boom goes the dynamite is the best drop ever. i cant hear it and not
laugh histerically. and when i watch sportscenter, when "the man" as he
was called gets the kick out pass, i always think and boom goes the
dynamite. even if one eyed stu is yelling about the
other side of the pillow or his cousin rae rae and shaquon. Way to bust
those stereotypes ole blue eye

Since I have gotten xm there is no reason for me to ever listen to
regular radio ever again. I still listen to some regular radio shows
such as Hannity; I listen to Coast to Coast at night and am extreamly
annoided by the commertials. The cool thing about XM is when I want to
hear music I hear music with very little interuptions. When I want to
listen to O&A there also is very little interuptions. some breaks
here and there for 3 or 4 minutes. The boys biggest complaint is the
actually have to come up with so much more radio a day because they
don't have the long commertial breaks. This is really a great medium I
love the freedom they have and I am pleased with the content. They
never have to break in the middle of a thought, so the exaust the
subject for the most part and then take a break.  Ron
and Fez are a great show with great people. When they left WNEW I was
so dissapointed I wrote Ron an E-mail. I talked about how his show kept
me going after 911 and he wrote me back. he thanked me for being a
loyal fan. I moved to california last year and I was listening to
Hannity when he announced O&A were on his show and going to XM. I
also speculated in my mind that if they were going to XM and Stern to
Sirius, Then it would be so that RNF would be behind O&A.  It
took me about 2 mounths to actually get xm. Now I can listen to nothing
else. The iceing on the cake would be if RNF come to 202. I have been
spreading the O&A virus to my freinds out here and they are loving
it. I am also talking up RNF but its kind of hard to talk about a show
you can't let them hear. Everybody in radio that
have shows like these are being beat up on a daily basis by lawyers
with morality complaints and FCC violations. They are all sick of the
corperate and government control put on them and want the freedom to
create like you get in satellite. This will be big for RNF and all
there fans. You will either get XM and listen to RNF and O&A. Or
you will listen to RNF only. Or maybe your intent is to only listen to
RNF and you fall in love with O&A also. And O&A fans will fall
back in love with RNF... (Not in a "Gay Man Love" way of course.)

Ron and Fez are a great show with great people. When they left WNEW I was so dissapointed I wrote Ron an E-mail. Ron and Fez, O&A, and even D&M got me through some tough times. I wrote Ronnie once the same and he was the same way. What I've always liked about them is how down to earth they are. Whether hanging out at events or whatever they are super cool.

heard that too, and got me back to thinking about whether or not they
are really trying to work with their agent to get Infinity to let their
WJFK show to be put onto XM, as opposed to going there out right. 
Sort of like - SOME of the scuttle out there might be right, but
ultimately it all adds up to something just a little different. Just my
opnion too. Of course, all year there have been so many other clues and
hints that if you were even a casual listerner at this point, it would
seem more like a question of "when" they were out of there rather than
"if" they were. And about the Wegman's comment - yeah,
there might be other Wegman's across the country, but the point he was
making was that he was within walking distance to one near him, not to
mention close to a cool movie theatre, AND he enjoyed the ability to
grill - sort of making the case that not everything during his time out
in "toothless Fairfax" was horrible.

To revist the earlier comments/questions posed by Big Pare, I can easily uunderstand why Ron and Fez fans outside of Washington would want the freedom to hear them over the radio, whereever they are. That makes comeplete sense to me. On the flip side, I just hope the same consideration is made for people who can currently hear them for free and don't (or can't) make  the commitment to pay for radio or XM. There has been so much defensiveness and anger on here, people just need to understand that if they leave WJFK that it's going to be very, very tough on a lot of people. If we are to believe the survey Perrynoid posted, only 2 out of 10 current listeners will either follow them or already have them, and that's kind of sad - for everyone. Hell - just go back and listen to Ron and Fez last November, in the segment where they interviewed Tom Shales, to hear their very honest assestment (at that time) of satellite radio. Things changed pretty quickly since then, so who knows if they still have some of those misgivings, but I think a lot of the concern voiced on here is actually just stuff echoed from what they said.<blockquote dir="ltr" style="margin-right: 0px">quote: Excellent! Not sure if that's accurate or not.Actually, the "announcement" of the other shows going to "202," especially BJ Shea's, still makes me wonder that R&F and their agent may be working out a deal with Infinity & XM to do both. BJ Shea (from what I understand) has a really sweet deal in Seattle, and I would be very surprised if he gives it up. This could easily be the reason why they are still at WJFK, and yet still dropping the hints. Could be very, very wrong about this.

of satellite has or hasn't changed is irrelevant to the fact that they
haven't had the support they need to put on the show they want to put
on at WJFK.  Do you think if there were no XM option, they would
want to stay at JFK?

Curtoid, why are you so hung up on this idea of them staying at JFK, and simulcasting to XM.  It seems to me that whether Ron's opinion of satellite has or hasn't changed is irrelevant to the fact that they haven't had the support they need to put on the show they want to put on at WJFK.  Do you think if there were no XM option, they would want to stay at JFK?   I may be "hung up" on it because I think it will suck for people who currently have a show for free to have to suddenly be pay for the same thing, but I also think that sometimes this board (and this thread) becomes too much of an echo-chamber, with people bouncing the same ideas off the wall, and then agreeing with each other. The only variations then turn out to be the negative ones. I'm simply speculating on something different. Whether I believe it or not is not really the point, however I do think based on the fact that they have had as many as 3 different times to leave WJFK (from what we already know) in the last 3 years, at contract time, that they would want to stay at WJFK if some things were different. Infinity and WJFK can be cheap bastards some of the time, but they can also make their talent very, very, very wealthy. With Stern leaving in September, and based on contract negotiations in the past with Don and Mike and The Junkies, I would not be surprised if they are in the middle of something much larger and complicated than simply them wanting to follow Opie and Anthony on satellite radio.As I often say, though - I could very well be wrong. quote: I disagree. I may be wrong, but I think XM would make the announcement first. I only base that on Jefe and Dubs having to announce their move in FLa before WJFK.

I didn't mean it to sound like an echo chamber of the other opinions
already given.  I don't think they are O&A lapdogs
either.  What I think is that the show, while still very
enjoyable, is obviously being "phoned in" by the guys.  I don't
remember them ever sounding this exasperated during the last contract
negotiations.  I appreciate your opinion, but could you really
envision a scenario where they stay at JFK?  I could accept the
fact that they may not necessarily want to leave DC, but I can't
imagine them wanting to stay at JFK.

But based on their aired opinions about satellite radio, would it really be a step up?  Wouldn't it make more sense for them to be trying to get on a different "Earth-bound" station?  Why is their on-air frustration with WJFk taken as gospel, but their on-air bashing of satellite totally ignored?And I'm not saying one is actually better than the other...I'm just pointing out how NONE of this makes any sense.

If I remember correctly, their opinion of satellite radio didn't really
amount to a bashing.  It went more like "It's narrowcasting", or
"It's still a new frontier, and what happens to pioneers, they get shot
with arrows."  I don't really remember them bashing it hard. 
It just seems that if staying at JFK where an option, they would be
trying to make the best of the situation the way they've always
done.

Heres what i got to say.  True 60 million listeners of regular radio and 5 million xm subscribers.  But Ron and Fez is in the 8th market in Washington DC during the 7 to 11 pm slot.  I am sure they do not have 60 million listeners.  Ron and Fez's potentional is being stunted stuck under the infinity umbrella in the 8th market.  Right now if they went to xm they would probably have less listeners... for a little while.  But the popularity of Satalite Radio is growing substantually.  It would be a smarter move to join Satellite radio now as oppose to in 2007 after the dieing industry fires them and the all the slots are filled up because of the limited space/money/bandwith.  I understand that alot of DC listeners would be upset, maybe just as much as all the New York listeners were when Ron and Fez left us.  But to want to limit Ron and Fez's potentional would be selfish.  It seems like people are afraid of OnA fans becoming fans of Ron and Fez (the ones who arent already).  "Like those type of people are so loud and gross and just dont get the type of humor like we do"And those out there who think that by staying on Fm radio would be more beneficial, Regular radio is not looking for intelligent comedy.  They are looking for Stern Replacements which means a "Dick and Fart" show lite.  The asshole suits would not risk putting Ron and Fez in a major spot and that is sad and it sucks.  It is much easer to pepper the dying, "talk genre" in the major markets with tame puppet shock jocks.  And as of now Infinity is showing Ron and Fez NO RESPECT.  The biggest radio corperation there is does not give a shit about Ron and Fez.  From making them move to not helping the show through WJFK to potentionally holding them to there contracts they have been nothing but a hassel for Ron and Fez and to a certain degree the listeners    As far as Channel 202 xm is concerned that would be the smartest move to make.  Yes i am a Opie and Anthony fan but i am not somebody who is looking foward to an AFRO show everyday.  I think Ron and Fez would florish in NYC.  Did you not hear how HAPPY Fez was talking to Billy and Mikey the other day???.  And working together with there good friends OnA, they would be in a stronger environment not alone or by themselves.  OnA are stong allies to have, and XM will bennifit from having Ron and Fez on there station.  I am sure Opie has been working behind the scenes for months concerning Ron and Fez.  Yes OnA have problems with management but all of there problems are very very minor compaired to what Ron and Fez are suffering through.  No matter what happens i am going to be following Ron and Fez, weither it be to XM or Sirius or FM radio on the floating continent of Laputa.  No matter what happens i will still be looking foward to the day when OnA and Ron and Fez are working back to back again.

What I have seen voiced on this board is a concern that R&F get sometimes considered by O&A fans as (along with Ferrall) O&A's supporting castwhile i have seen that voiced, I don't think I have ever seen that opinion posted by an O&A fan.  I think its more in the minds of the Ron and Fez fan that is afraid of that happening.  I think most O&A fans want Ron and Fez to move to XM because they like the show and is easier to have both on one platform which they currently own.

completely, especially with the first part (more than I can say). 
And with Stern leaving, and a presumed schedule shuffle it sure seems
like it would make sense for R&F to stick it out to see what
happens... And perhaps that is what this is really about -- leverage to
get the day spot that R&F want.  Does that help make sense of
the glaring contradictions in the situation?Do R&F really want 3-7pm and D&M or the Junkies are in the way? 
Things that don't make a lot of sense to me, in no particular order:Stopping
FLA syndication around the time Baltimore went away -- was this an F
you to Infinity mgmt for taking away Baltimore?  For not pushing
to syndicate more?  Or is it as many speculate part of a

Keisha can't come to JFK except during R&F show hours --
this one is so bizarre... is this mgmt's counter F you at
R&F?  Is Keisha the producer because mgmt won't spring for a
"real"  (read that: experienced) producer because of an ongoing
contract dispute?  Or are R&F calling mgmt's bluff by not
hiring a producer... Are R&F producers hired and paid by R&F or
Infinity?

I will simply go out on a limb and say that what concerns some Ron and Fez fans is that R&F's identity might get lost on someone else's station (whether that someone else is O&A or Stern). Hopefully whatever is worked out will benefit everyone, but most important, regardless of what I want, or what I think, or what I make up and speculate, I will echo Mikey's gay comment from yesterday that I REALLY want whatever is best for them, by their own definitions. IF that means staying on with WJFK until a better deal, timeslot, syndication deal, whatever, then cool, or if it means going to another market, then fine, or if it means going to satellite radio, then just as cool. YES they can make great radio in the worst of circumstances, but why should they have to?

that's the main thing. Why anyone would think Ron and Fez were to be
slighted if they went to XM I don't understand. OnA controll that
station, they could put anyone on that they wanted. They are hand
picking Ron and Fez. Why would they do that if they didnt think it
would be a success and support it. OnA would have just as much of a
stake in making sure Ron and Fez succeed as Ron and Fez would. They
would help0 them at all cost.

Some hints on the O&A show:Opie knows a secret about Channel 152 - the extreme talk channel on XM.Opie said expansion of 202 starts in September.One can extrapolate from Eric Logan's comments that he is not happy with the performance of the shows currently heard on 152.  Definitely on Phillips Phile, but other stuff as well.Clear Channel has a lockdown on 152.  It's part of their VERY SMALL partnership with XM.** BEGIN SPECULATIONPerhaps one of the reasons that prevents a Simulcast is not just Infinity didn't want to release their properties to satellite radio, but maybe, just maybe, Clear Channel had an exclusive agreement when it came to Simulcasts.  Now, Hannity is on XM, but he is a nationally syndicated show.  In fact, all of the material on XM that's simulcast is either national syndication (through Westwood, premiere, etc) or Clear Channel's shows on 152.Just an idea - perhaps if CC's contract expires, 152 is blown up, and the bandwidth is shifted to create a second "Hot Talk" channel.

Opie said on today's show that the news was "personal, not having to do with the company," but then said it had to do with 202 (which kind of would be the company, wouldn't it?).  Of course, there was Signed, Sealed, and Delivered played last night.  Opie said they would make the annoucnment sometime in the next week, but wasn't sure when.  Maybe they are trying to figure out a date this week to get Ron and Fez in the studio to do a live annoucement of them coming to 202?

So you're a big fan of Ron and Fez?They were doing well in NY and Infinity stuck them in DC when WNEW blew up. If they were properly supported I think they would be able to do well in more than one market at the same time.I was trying to say a "one market zero" is someone who is limited to one market that they do well in, while not doing well in other markets. O&A mention Don and Mike. Yeah, D&M got bumped in NY & Philly, but they are also on in Las Vegas, Baltimore, San Fran, Tampa, Pittsburgh and several other markets, including Sacramento (the number one ad revenue radio market in the country), where they have been on for years and years (like Vegas and Balmer) and do really well. They get put on and taken off all the time over the years, and if they stay in the syndication game, they will continue to do so. They did make a decision after the NY and Philly abortions to try and remain a local DC show that just happens to be heard nationally - instead of bending over backwards trying to be everything to every market, etc., which just smelled of being phoney. The bottom line, though, is (from what I've heard) the larger the market, the worse the radio. I'd take Kansas City, Richmond, Charlotte, Omaha and Boulder over NY, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and especially DC any day. Still more indie stations once you get out of the big cities.

A little something i came across on another messageboard apparently everyone thinks R&F are off to XM:Hey Animals, it's time to get some buzz going around the show and the boys need our help here. Recently, the Opie and Anthony show stated on air that they were going to be looking for some new talent to work on the station that they're on, XM 202. It's pretty much one of the worst kept secrets in radio that Ron and Fez will soon be joining O&A on XM 202 but there is still openings to be filled and Big O and Dukes would fit into XM's plans perfectly. Here's where you guys step in. The more buzz and support we are able to generate for the boys, the better their chances will be. We need everyone to email O&A's producers, Steve and Ben and let them know that you'd love to hear them on XM. It doesn't matter if you guys aren't actually XM subscribers yet, just email them and show them that they're worthy of such an opportunity.

September 6th, huh? That would put this almost exactly at 6 months since the first YMB reference. And if Monday, August 1st is really the announcement day, you have to question whether or not R&F would actually do it on their short porch show, or if it will be through an official press release, or on an appearance on O&A. I have my personal doubts that it would be on that particular day if they are still on WJFK (aside from them only coming on at 8pm, Don returns that day and is supposed to do the first hour and a half of his show solo, so I imagine the focus of the day, radio wise in DC, will be on that) - so, once again the question comes up as to whether or not this next Friday is the last Friday. Didn't they do several afternoon drives on NEW after O&A got canned? I thought that was at the same time that the Daily News had an article announcing R&F as the new "shock jocks" on NEW, and they were doing three shows a day.

Yeah, I have it on my iPod...If someone doesn't post it before tonight, I'll PM you with a link to it.People on Wackbag and other Boards made a big deal about it (Norton was off the show the following day, but not because of the fight, he had a gig) but it wasn't really a big deal. They are using a couple clips from the fight on the newest version of the O&A show's opening. think Mornings is the best slot in radio, so they figured that they
could go in Mornings and replay the show for their old night listeners. 11-3 is one of the worst times for a show, I think R&F should go to 3-7 or 7-11.
