View Full Version : Soap or Body Wash?

All my life I have been a bar of soap kind of guy. I always thought of "body wash" as something only a girl would use. But I started working out and afterward would be sore and take a bath and I started buying body wash as a kind of bubble bath (gay).
But then I bought this one tonite in Walgreens because it was buy one get one free from Adidas..
http://swistak.pl/zdjecia/00/00/13/14/131492_1.jpg
and hot dang! This stuff has something in it thats very cooling to the skin and Im thinking of
giving up my bar of soap now! Anyone else use body wash? I still think I get cleaner dragging
that bar of soap over my skin though...

Between the body wash & the deodorant (Pure Sport, Fresh, or Mountain Rush), they are...THE BEST THING GOIN' TODAY! And the scent lingers but doesn't overpower so cologne is optional.

I'm loyal to Irish Spring. Just the possibility of having a day that good from soap keeps me trying.
I shampoo though with the half-used castaway bottles of product from my wife's collection of shampoo. Haven't bought a bottle of shampoo in 11 years.

been using it forever

i used to make batches of Irish Spring when i worked at Colgate Palmolive. I'd drop 500 lbs of soap chips, add ingredients and coloring, let it mix and then open a chute to drop it down to the production line. there it went into a plodder with a big worm/screw, the screw would force it out a piece of metal that shaped it rectangular, then the cutter, and then a cold press that gave it it's final shape and engraved the Irish Spring name on the bar itself.

Then the wrapper to the case to the gluer across several blocks of conveyor belts to the warehouse where cases were stacked on pallets. The warehouse guys would bring it to the shelves or the trucks which went to the stores.

I loved that job

before it went into the plodder it had to stick to and run up 5 cooled rollers. if the soap was too fresh/warm it would fall of the roller. if the rollers weren't cooled by the chilled water from the power plant the soap fell off. if the rollers weren't adjusted right the soap would fall off. some nights all i would do was make batches, drop them downstairs, and then go downstairs and shovel it off the floor into bins for recycling. and the line never pushed out much production that night...

the end

mind you, with these rollers there was 1 guy in the plant, Mr Cirelli who really knew how to adjust the rollers. That's 1 out of a 1000 workers. He had close to 40 years service when i was working there and he was ready to retire. You prayed he was on-shift somewhere in the plant when the soap would just drop off the rollers to the floor. I was friends and played ball with his son.

these rollers/presses supposedly came from south america and were used for sugar production at one point

anyway, i had two glasses of wine for dinner so I'm talkin my ass off, sorry!

Only when I don't get a chance to take a bath of fire (to get that deep down dirt).

My brother took his children on a vacation and they stayed in a hotel. He had to convince them that a bar or soap was actually soap. They had always used liquid up to that point. They were 5 and 3 years old.

I have been using Kirk's Castile soap for a few years now, and it is great. I get it at Trader Joe's. Trader Joe's also has other soaps that I use, like south of france citron soap and even a few own brand soaps. I also like Zest and Lever2000. I also get soaps from the Vermont Country Store, and occasionally use Magno soap. I also use Lush soaps occasionally. I guess I am not loyal to any particular brand, and I like to mix them up. I dont think Id care to only use one kind forever.

Yep, no wash cloth either. Since I'm the only one who uses the bar of soap, I just grab it and soap up. But I still make sure that there are no hairs on it when I put it back in the soap dish.

Body Soap all the way. I switch my brands around depending on if I want to take the time and money for fancy stuff, if it's winter I tend to get ones with more moisturizer to ease my dry skin. I absolutely cannot use Bar Soap. It dries the shit out of my skin.

My husband is also a fan of the Irish Spring, the Body Soap version.
