I dont think its wax, it seems to be part of the cheese and I never cut it off and when I have had sandwiches with it at the deli, its always on there.
Somethings telling me its paprika or something, but it doesnt seem to have any spicy taste at all.
Would it still be muenster if it wasnt there?
