hey everyone.. its been awhile since I left a post but I really could use some advice right about now..

i'm an A/R Clerk by day, and a part-time web designer by night... I make no money doing the web design since I am working on my own sites for now.. I have been looking for a web job for such a long time that i just gave up until yesterday..

i went to the interview and everything went ok.. this morning i was offered a job by the company, making the same money i make now, with a share in profits in the next 2 months (which sounds good), but with no benefits... I currently have benefits with my current job...

i have a family (wife + baby) and need those benefits... the potential employer said we can talk about benefits in about 2 months if all goes well... he said (which makes sense) that i would gaining a lot of experience doing ASP/Server side maintenance, plus extra web design skills so it would pay off...

what should i do?? should i risk myself with the new job without benefits but with some profits OR stay ay my same, mundane job making the same money with benefits (haven't been promoted in 4 years, haven't had a raise in 1.5 years) ..

half of me says "go for it", and the other half says "stay put"..

If you need the benefits, stay put. There's always other jobs out there. NEVER EVER EVER trust an offer that says "we'll talk about it down the road".

I agree 100%. Never trust a "down the road" comment.

Your family needs you to have health coverage, you can not sign on with out it. If they want you that bad, they can start your benefits now.

with a wife and baby... you definitely need health insurance (babies go to the doctor a lot) If you have to buy your own policy for the entire family that could run upwards of $800 a month.

Tenbats is 100% correct. I'm still waiting on the dental plan that was to be discussed a few months down the road. It's been 1.5 years.

There ARE other jobs out there, just don't lose hope if you haven't had any luck within a week or so. It does take time but be persistant and good luck!
