<P>Man, I just got off the phone with a guy who represented the law offices of blah blah blah.&nbsp; I can't believe they got me here.&nbsp; Crazy shit bro.&nbsp; I've hed no money, so I had nothing to give them, and they were leaving the weekly message on my phone at home.&nbsp; Yes I know, dodging a debt is stupid, but my credit is already destroyed from the 10 large I owed some other company and eventually got rid of.&nbsp; This one was A LOT smaller, but still an outstanding debt.</P>
<P>But today..... BLAM!&nbsp; Got me here.&nbsp; </P>
<P>It was actually a good thing.&nbsp; I've been meaning to get rid of this last debt I owe for some time now, so I gave him a large part of it today and will take care of the rest in a month so it doesn't completely clean me out.&nbsp; It's gonna eat up my tax return, but at this point I'm so sick of worrying when that lawsuit was gonna show up I'm kinda excited that this will be resolved.&nbsp; I'll be back to square one with cash basically, but I'll owe nothing to any companys.</P>

I do collections Moe, you are lucky it took em so long. I had them once put a freeze on my checking account for $7000, twice what I owed, without me even knowing. I ended up settling for $2500.

If you talk em down, you can get a better deal, but make sure you get it in writing that they will remove and delinquencies from your CBR

The last one I delt with sent a letter to the people that handle credit or whatever they're known as.&nbsp; These people said I'd have to mail the settlement documentation to them myself once it was square.&nbsp; Either way I'm waiting for stuff to sign.&nbsp; When it's paid, I'll send them the stuff.

the folks collecting the debt should be responsible for taking the derogatories off your CBR, I wouldn't give them dime one until they promise in writing to do so. Also, negotiate. They will come down on the $$.

<P>What can I do to make sure they mail the comfirmation of settlement to the Credit people?&nbsp; And if worse came to worse, is it hard for me to contact them with the official settlement letter to get it off my report?</P>

<P>we had a prob&nbsp;with a medical bill. my wife thought she settled it many times and with many hours on the phone with the Insurance and the Doctor's Office. So we went to court and plea bargained. They got 150 of the 300 and then court costs.</P><BR>

<P>Well that was the problem for me.&nbsp; For like a year I just totally forgot about them, shutting them out of my mind.&nbsp; Then the lawsuit for the 1st one came, and I was forced to deal with it.&nbsp; </P>
<P>Once you start to think about it, yes, it can consume your thoughts.&nbsp; It took so much just to get to 0, you know?&nbsp; But I'm fairly excited to owe NOTHING to any company or other finacial entity.</P>

I collect from people that owe the firm, from people who the firm won judgements against, and I also have some clients that I do commercial collections for. My biggest being Verizon which is kinda nice.
