Hopefully I can get some responses quickly. I'm thinking of seeing this movie tonight but I don't know shit about the comic (or comic books in general). Will I still be able to enjoy this flick?

They showed plenty. I was particularly impressed with Carla Gugino's tits. Which you get to see quite prominently displayed.

Very good movie, I highly recommend it.

Batman Begins will be better though, as any SANE comic geek will tell you.

The fight scenes in the movie were fucking intense. The movie is visually aesthetic, well put together and best of all the actors didn't ruin any sense of what the movie is about.

Easily the best movie i've seen in the last 3-5 years.

I hated it.

I went in with a COMPLETELY open mind because I don't know what SIN CITY is. I've never seen the graphic novels or anything. BUT...I love Tarantino and many of the actors in this movie.

I didn't know the writing was going to be so stylized. "I look at her and she shakes like the last leaf on a dying tree....." etc etc. Plus, just about every actor in this movie uses the same noir-ish , deep, whispery, gravely, voice.

I did however absolutely LOVE the look of the film. From a visual standpoint...it is a brilliant movie.

I loved this movie. Both the look and the story(ies) were great. The only problem I had with it were some of the acting. I'm looking in your general direction Alexis Bledel. And I'm looking straight in to your eyes Micheal Madsen, Brittany Murphy and Micheal Clarke Duncan.

Michael Clarke Duncan might be the worst actor I've ever seen, other than his role in The Green Mile, though Madsen's work in the first scene rivals some of Duncan's worst.

On the other hand, Clive Owen, Benicio Del Toro, Nick Stahl, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis all were stellar. Rosario Dawson was very good as well. While some of the actors could only manage a laughable parody of noir acting, those guys did a great job. Even Josh Hartnett did a great job with the little time he had. This movie really exposed the amateurs and wanna-be's from the real actors.

I think Brittany Murphy played the role of "retarded whore" really well. Though she probably wasn't relying on her acting ability too much there.

Yeah, most times comic book adaptations don't do much for me but I didn't even know what this was and the trailers just looked so tasty I could tell it was a comic book adaptation. I definitely need to see this.

Oh, and the boobies were really hot.

Using big boy words I see.

I saw it last night. WOW! Great...really, really great! (Seinfeld reference). The acting was pretty average and was brought down as a whole by some poorly acted parts, but some of the actors really took it to another level. Clive Owen and Benicio Del Toro really stood out for me, but I guess I love them in every movie they do. The way the whole thing was shot was great.

4 and a half stars out of 5. Best movie Ive seen this year...

one thing that bothered me in the movie was the josh hartnett part.
was his role really necessary in the movie? i'm tying to see how he fit into the scheme of things and validate it. arg, it's just a movie, so i'll chill.

visually, it was great. overall, not too bad.

I think the movie was great. The lead actors and the aesthetics really captured the noir feel. Carla Gugino was smoking hot. And I really dug Elijah Wood and Nick Stahl in this movie, they both had great characters.

I loved the use of shadows. It really catured the feel of Frank Miller art. I haven't read Sin City, but now I really want to.

And this movie easily has the most castrations in any movie I've ever seen.

I'm not sure if it was visual trickery or just great acting, but Powers Boothe really freaked me out. Just the way he looked, especially against that solid black backdrop, as if they were in the middle of nowhere. That certainly added something to it.

Saw it last night. On the advice of Mojo, I had read the books previous to seeing the movie.

All I can say is that it was amazing. Thats what you dream about when you are kid when you think about a comic book coming alive. The shoots and the colors were amazing. When Hartigan was walking to the Barn, and when he was walking out of Jail, and when he was IN jail were all amazing. They got that 2-d feel of a comic book with the bars.

Anyway I thought it was just awesome, I think I may go back and see it again tonight.

I saw it last weeken, it wasn't bad but it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen. I thought black and white with some things in color was fabulous, it made the movie more gooder.

quote:
Saw it last night. On the advice of Mojo, I had read the books previous to seeing the movie.

All I can say is that it was amazing. Thats what you dream about when you are kid when you think about a comic book coming alive. The shoots and the colors were amazing. When Hartigan was walking to the Barn, and when he was walking out of Jail, and when he was IN jail were all amazing. They got that 2-d feel of a comic book with the bars.

Anyway I thought it was just awesome, I think I may go back and see it again tonight.
Preach on brother, preach ON!

Alba getting whipped at the end of the movie is the hottest thing I've ever seen. The orange dude is like whipping her as she is on her knees with her arms tied to the ceilling demanding that she scream for him...

Too bad it only lasts like 30 seconds....a 4 or 5 minute scene would've helped me bust a nut forever...

The sequel has been greenlighted and Rodriquez said he's doing "A Dame to Kill For" in part 2....and most likely Family Values, as there isn't many Sin City stories left to fill a movie...

Bought the DVD last night, (they come out a little early here). Not much for features, someone will have to tell me if the first DVD release in the States is the same.

Great flick. I think I'll be one of those movies that I watch whenever I'm in that kind of mood. Like in the mood to castrate someone - twice.

Mickey Rourke was fucking outstanding again. After Animal Farm I'm beginning to think he's actually a better actor than the old Barfly days. He's unbelievable now. He really had the most charisma, which I thought was lacking in some of the other performances, especially Michael Madsen and Michael Clark Duncan. I even thought Bruce Willis was coasting on this brooding wounded guy character he's type-casting himself into. I didn't see him really do anything different with this character. Just one-dimensional.

Smokinest babe - Rosario Dawson.
