I need some help do you know any sure fire ways in treating a canker soar and you going on the bar crawl with al dukes it sure can be more fun then watching your grandma eat soup.........

FEZWAD - Canker sores are a nice ways of saying oral ulcers. They are to be distinguished from cold sores in that canker sores are not viral and are not contageous whereas cold sores are viral and VERY contageous.

Certain foods have the reputation of causing canker sores but I do not recall who did this study and thus can't vouch for it's reliability.

These foods are: Grains such as whole wheat, rye, barley, and even flour; Alcoholic beverages (made from wheat, rye, or barley); Nuts; Figs; Shellfish; Soy; Dairy products
including chocolate.

Canker sores can be caused and are almost always aggravated by using hard-bristled tooth brushes. Switch to soft! Also, use a toothpaste that doesn't contain sodium lauryl sulfate (a foaming agent).

Stress has also been linked to formation of canker sores.

There are many (overpriced) over the counter canker sores "cures." For the most part they are not any more effective than a multivitamin (make sure it includes vitamin B).

Baking soda directly on the sore can help the pain of external sores and rinsing your mouth with a 50/50 soultion of hydrogen peroxide and water can help those on the inside (it tastes really gross though). Needless to say, don't swallow the peroxide
