So today this chick here is wearing leather pants. first of all, she should never EVER be wearing leather pants, no less at work. second of all they are red, third of all its the end of april. fourth of all, her thighs are rubbing together and going swish swish every time she comes by and fifth of all this is work!!! not a club where people get spanked and chained (i think maybe i should just get a job there instead of this craphole)... is wearing red leather pants to work ok or am i over reacting?

I personally think it is tacky to wear leather to work. Plus leather pants went out in like 2002. Red Leather Pants are NEVER cool.

Now with that being said, I COULD possibly see someone wearing nice, high quality (not shiny) TAILORED leather pants to work. When I worked at MasterCard and leather pants were still in (in 2002), I did see some people wear nice leather pants to work, even though I was talking about how tacky it was behind their back.

To summarize:

TACKY:

ACCEPTABLE: (possibly with crisp white shirt)

yes. these pants are in the tacky! category. and yes, Ani DiFranco speaks the truth. yet the fact that she is black has less to do with it than the fact that she is too plus sized to be wearing the damn pants... and i am not a skinny chick, so if it bugs me out, then there is something wrong.

I hear ya. Last week at work a plus-sized woman here decided to wear a sleeveless dress in hot pink/orange plaid print that looked like a sack. Plus she has tattoos on her fucking biceps that are on display to everyone (I have 2 tattoos, but they are on my back and hideable with normal clothing)

I am an admin, and share an office with another admin, and we most definitely don't ever dress unprofessionally. There are just a few people who were obviously never schooled on what is appropriate for the workplace. My first job was at a recruiting firm where I had to wear a suit w/ pantyhose every day. No open toed shoes, no bare legs, no sleeveless tops. I still won't wear a shell style sleeveless top to work, although I will do open toed shoes. We can wear jeans here and I think in the year I've worked here, I've only worn jeans twice.

The same girl who wore the fluorescent sack to work the other day was rocking a hot pink sleeveless shirt, with capri jeans and probably 5 inch heels with pink bows on them the other day.
Yea, leather is one of those weird materials for clothing. Coats=always cool and stylish. Pants=SHAKEY GROUD.

Plus, if you're not in excellent shape, you shouldn't be wearing tight fitting stuff, period. I'd say red leather pants does kinda scream "Hoochie Mama" and that's not professional. Tell her to take them off and walk around in her panties all day as punishment. Then, drop pile of pens in front of your desk and make her pick them up as you take pics to post on the internet later.
