<p>I've suffered from insomnia for a while. My doctor prescribed Ambien. I only take it when I'm really tired and desperate for sleep</p><p>Some nights I get sleep. Most nights not. </p><p>Any other sufferers?</p>

I don't think I'm an insomniac, but when I do go to sleep, I have trouble staying asleep. One thing I've found that helps is to put on a Jazz channel. I'm not saying jazz is boring... It's just a good sound to have playing when trying to sleep. I've found that I sleep longer, and I have better dreams. It's also important to set a timer to turn the music off after 60 to 90 minutes from the time that you put your head on the pillow.

I used to suffer badly, but I recently kicked it with Tylonol PM oddly enough. I just OD'ed on it every night and I was out cold.

<p>I often lay down to go to sleep, but I go "halfway" to sleep (I have a dream, but still know what's going on around me). This lasts for about 20-30 mins, and then I snap out of it and can't get back to sleep for a hour or so.</p><p>I'm thinking of getting sleeping pills, but I don't know....I barely get like 6 hours of sleep, and that's even if Igo to bed 2-3 hours earlier</p>

<p>once in a while my mind will be racing too much or my stomach will be a little upset and making tons of gurgly noises and i can't sleep... then i try to think about what i ate or drank that night before bed...</p><p>the other night i was wired-up for some reason and every few minutes my head would twitch... i had to go downstairs and watch tv... watching tv seems to be the best way for me to get to sleep. the only problem is i wake up about an hour later cause the couch is not 'sleeping comfortable' for me... then i can go back to bed and usually get to sleep</p><p>the end</p>

<p>I had insomnia as a kid, in like 7th or 8th grade. It was probably after my aunt died, I just can't remember the exact times. But she was very close to me, so it makes sense. I must have watched DD7 commercials for WEEKS. That was back when infomercials weren't as good. Very ghey.</p><p>But recenly I've been sleeping OK. I even fall asleep in front of my computer, as many of my annoyed IM friends will tell you.</p><p>Closest thing I had recently was on unemployment. I fell into a HORRIBLE sleep pattern. Asleep at 4, up at like noon or later. Terrible. NEVER doing that again.</p>

<p>I wouldn't go the pill route, myself. Insomnia usually means
somethings bothering you. It'd be better to just deal with it, whatever
it is. </p><p>You probably know whats bothering you, so just do something, anything to deal with it.</p><p> </p><p>BTW-Sex always puts me to sleep. And I've been known to put a few of my girlfriends to sleep, too. Usually halfway through it. </p><p>"psst. wake up! wake up!! I'm not done yet!" </p>

I'm actually going through insomnia right now. I'm in CA
working temporarily. I'm living in a furnished apartment but I
have this fear of someone breaking into it in the middle of the night
and killing me. Needless to say, I get no sleep. I have
ambien with me, but I don't take it because I'm scared to go to
sleep! Oddly enough, I have no problems sleeping when it's
daylight, I mean it's not like someone won't break in during the day.<br />

I watched "Freddy vs. Jason" last night on Encore and passed right the fuck out.
I highly recommend it for all insomniacs.

Every time I quit smoking the herbicles for a little while I get very bad insomnia. It's expected, and goes away after about a week, so I just deal with it.
Many long nights of anime and Adult Swim.
Besides that I used to have horrible sleeping habits. To bed by 2-3am, up by 7-10am. I did that for about six or seven years. I actually just broke out of it last year.
Another Contra and LSP joint production
