I just heard the PSA about giving back to the community and I'd much rather help animals than people.

Is that wrong? I just don't like people. I've tried to give back to people and I've just been spat upon. Literally.

I prefer animals.

Dear Alice;

I'm with you. I'm a strict vegetarian, but I believe that cannibalism would be OK, because I wouldn't be preying on a lower life form, and because I like animals so much better than people. I have also started feeding my bulldog people-meat, which she likes but which makes her sing "Marie Provost" by Nick Lowe.

Regards, Virginia

Two days ago, on my way back home from the train station, I see this car stopped oddly by the side of the road, and as I pass it, I see the woman in the car is saying something out her passinger window, and as Im going by, I see shes talking to a very heavy man who was laying face down on the sidewalk with a cane next to him. He appeared to be in considerable distress, but at first I figured the woman would call for help and I drove on. But I felt bad anyway and live right next to a firehouse (maybe a block from this scene), and I drove right to the firehouse and told them, and they took off with the ambulance toward him.
Now, if it was an cat or dog, would I have pulled over to offer help?.......
Clearly the woman in the car had more inclination to help. But I think if I didnt see the woman there, I would have pulled over myself...

I can agree that animals are more predictable and therefore trustworthy, and people are just the opposite. But there are good people too, so I am kind of torn. I would still rather eat meat occasionally than be a strict vegitarian, if that makes any sence.

I am with Mojo, i have no desire to help animals. I also agree with Alice, I def. do not go out of my way to help people. They are ungrateful most of the time. I help myself, usually with large plates of meat.

I do send care packages to soldiers over seas. Grateful or not, they need that shit, and i know it is def. for good use. I tend not to donate to charaties because of the HUGE amount of overhead and small % of money that actually go to helping the cause.

Until my life is 100% where I want it to be, I can not see myself helping out to many people or things. I know it sounds selfish, I may be part of the problem with this society, but oh fucking well.

Now give me a large bucket of mistreated KFC chicken, a pair of Nike's made in a sweatshop, and over priced goods and services.

I am just under the impression that there are too many people that are just plain stupid.....people who know better but choose to be ignorant and rude.....like talking very loud on cell phones in very public places or don't know what to order in the dirve thru at Taco Bell....come on...it's not that tough!! I agree, animals are just plain cool and sometimes, I thin, have it together much more than us homesapiens....just an opinion....

There are people I like, and people I don't. I can say the same of
animal. I help who I can help, be they animal or human. Sometimes the
ones I help, I don't like. Basically, I do what seems right at the time.
I agree.....when someone is in trouble, the personl issues tend to go away.....I was simply referring to the day to day normal interaction with people....People who are in trouble are people in trouble and if we can do something to help, regardless of our opinion, we should; we may be there one day and need to lean some one who may not like us very much....it's a fine line we walk....so deep fro quarter of 3 in the morning!!

I like animals, the ones that are easy on the eyes.

=

Bingo. It's not just you.

People say they love animals. They mean they love pretty animals that look kinda-sorta human, hence people think they act kinda-sorta human, and have kinda-sorta human feelings about things [like their owners], which is, as Penn Gillette would say, stupefyingly full of Bullshit.

Worse is how we pick and choose according to the very things we loathe. If its a nice pretty creature, we treat it nice and make movies about them looking for their parents. If it's a nasty creature, it's screwed.

=

The trying to help thing? People or animals, that's a recipe for disaster at best.

Aphorism 1: Helpful people are a nuisance.

Aphorism 2: Distrust anyone trying to teach you something.

quote:i prefer to help people b/c people have free will and animals have no sense of reason they just live off instinct.
Right. Animals are what they are. People can choose between right and wrong, and usually choose wrong.

Which makes them much better.

On
a more serious note, the animals were talking about are usually
abandoned pets. And most dogs have the relative intelligence of a small
child. So to me, mistreating an animal is like mistreating a little
kid.
