View Full Version : Cheesecake Factory in Tysons question

So I went to the Cheesecake Factory in Tysons last week with my mom and dad and I was definitely impressed with the food, and the actual dinner to, not just the cheesecake. But I wanted to ask anyone who's been there, was your service really shitty, or did we just get a bad waiter. I would especially think in an upscale joint like that your service would be really good. This guy was taking forever with everything, forgetting orders, forgetting refills that we asked for. And I'm not bashing waiters/waitresses, I know how hard it can be, one of my best friends is a waitress, but seriously wtf? Bad guy or is CF a bad place for service?

I think it was just your server. I mean you also have to take into account that those places are usually full, so that means longer waits for everyone. But I've had at least decent service everytime I've eaten there. Hope you left your server pennies for their poor performance. That's what I do.

it's basically just an upscale Olive Garden with a menu that you need a good half hour to read through. come to think of it my waiter was kind of dicky too.

I mean it's a nice place, but it's still a chain. It's not the nicest place around but it's good. I think I'd still rather go to a good local Italian place myself. They don't have ads in their menu. That REALLY pissed me off!

Sounds like the Cheesecake Factory on Wisconsin Avenue just near the DC/Bethesda line.

I've been to the Cheesecake Factory at the Palisade's Mall. The service there is ok, not too bad. My favorites are the Incredible Eggplant Sandwich and the Dulce de Leche cheesecake.

I've been to a couple before and found the service to be okay, nothing special. The food was very good for a chain, much better than an Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday, Chotchkie's type place. But it's still a chain so it's not going to be as good as a REALLY good resturant.

I've had some AMAZING cheesecake there. There was this one with like white chocolate and rasberry on it. I seriously felt like I got kinda high off it, it was that good. OH MY GOD. And I got one with like Tobelrone or something similar in it. SO good.

I've had that chocolate one too. I haven't had a bad cheesecake there, but to be honest, I was usually too full eating there to even bother with desert.

I have never eaten at a Cheesecake Factory. I've always thought that since it was a chain restaurant like an Applebee's or TGIF that it would be like "assembly line quality". Plus, I prefer the small, family owned types of restaurants.

But I may need to reconsider my line of thinking. Lots of you folks seem to like it. What makes it different from some of those other chain restaurants?

Being a chain does not necessarily make a restaurant bad.
Never been to the Cheesecake factory, but I imagine it's probably better than a Fridays or Applebeys or whatever - you know, like a place for Outback Steakhouse regulars to feel like they're eating in an upscale classy joint, but in reality nothing that exciting.

But anyway to get back to my point, chain does not immediately equal bad. The Palm steakhouse is a chain, heck, there are even 2 Peter Lugers. Legal Seafoods is a chain similar to Cheesecake Factory (found in malls and whatnot) and it's nothing spectacular but it is definitely a cut above the typical crud you find these days at other chains like Bertuccis etc.

I go often for lunch for company business. 9 times out of 10, the wait staff just sucks. it is overcrowded and loud no matter where you sit. The place just annoys me.

I personally dont think it's that over-priced when you take into consideration the portions.

Their chicken fingers plate comes with like 12 large fingers.

The pastas are always over-sized.

I dig that the menu is so big because you can go back several times and never have to get the same things.

the menu has a huge, different selection, and i think the quality of food is much better than a typical chain restaurant.
