Why are they red...or green? do they taste different?

They're green.  The shells are supposed to be tan.  That red shit is just dyed salt stuff they put on them, for some unknown reason.Buy naturally opened ones for better tasting pistachios.  The machine opened ones are cheaper but you'll get more closed and immature ones.

Does anyone know what this effect is all about?*> *> *>Ive noticed it since we got the new tools... What causes it? What does it mean?Back to the pistachios.. I saw in the supermarket they have shelled pistachio "nutmeats" (the nuts without the shells) and I was tempted to buy a bag and be done with my craving.  Id much prefer the undyed shells myself if given the choice.
