Too bad you didn't watch the WV/GA game Mudo, it's the best this bowl season so far!  What a finish.And fuck all that "ND just doesn't have the athletes" whining bullshit!  They fucking lost, end of story.  Oh wait, 13-14 in bowl games now.  And how many losses in a row?  The last win was in 94 and they should have lost that one too.  I guess getting into bowl games they have no right to be in doesn't pay off in terms of winning at least.  Fuck ND baby!

Did you watch the game? It was pretty apparent the Irish do not have
the athletes at this point to compete with Ohio State...they had no
answer for Ginn, Santonio Holmes, or even Pittman for pete's
sake....they were averaging almost ten yards a play and just running
for 8, 9 yards at a time on simple stretch run plays....and they had no
answer for Troy Smith...he had almost 400 yards by himself! 
And the Buckeyes defense was overwhelming....they forced Quinn
to wait in the pocket, and when they sent out Darius Walker on routes,
Hawk would come on a blitz and get through every time...Why do
you think I'm making excuses for the Irish? I'm just stating facts that
at THIS POINT...they do not have the athletes to compete with a team
like Ohio State, and I think that was proven yesterday...Will they
eventually get those athletes? Of course....But if theres really
any silver lining for the Irish, they did manage to hang around
probably the second best team in the country after USC....

Does Joe Paterno do anything else except pace around with a confused look on his face and yell at refs? At least Bowden looks like he's coaching, Paterno looks like an old man who somehow got onto the field and doesn't know what to do.

It was pretty apparent the Irish do not have the athletes Quinn's lack of mobility and inability to make a run when needed cost them. i believe he had a bunch of negative yards where the other quarterback had at least 66 positive running yards. not only does it get you key first downs but it also demoralizes and tires a defense...

Penn St. finally beat FSU in 26-23 triple overtime.  Both head coaches were asleep at the time.

I've never seen an FSU team as unathletic as this one.I mean they couldnt get pressure on the QB without blitzing.They couldnt cover in the secondary.Their O-line was awful regardless of the injuries.Even when the QB was in the shotgun they were pressuring him.If you're a scholarship player at a D1 school you should be able to do your job.They couldnt block anybody.Plus I think I only saw FSU run a 4 or more WR set one time.They werent getting protection with a TE end so they mioght as well have gone with the spread.And Paterno did look like he was left at the racetrack.

Yeah both kickers were awful although both punters were great ( they had a lot of practice )I still find it hard to belive that Weaterford is the best FSU can do at QB.

Mudo, ND has had some of the top recruiting classes in the country of late.  So much for your theory on talent.  And how can they hang with the athletes at USC, but not OSU?  And OSU isn't the second best team in the country bc they beat ND.  They lost to both PSU and Texas.  Both teams still rank better as well.  Blow that one down the toilet!

That play by Bush may have been the stupidest play I've ever seen in my life.If they lose this game he better hang himself in the shower.maybe he's shaving points.The one thing I will say is it looks like it should've been flagged for illegal forward pass.

young on my team any day. Leinart looks worse then Kurt Warner if you

to add: With these athletes USC has, leinart's numbers dont impress me
like they did. Even that last TD pass was a high throw and good play by
the WR. Half his yards are dump offs to one of the 900 great backs they
have who break long gains. some team is gonna make a huge mistake on
this guy

Isn't the rule on receptions that a receiver has to have control of the ball and then make a "football move" for it to be a reception, or are the rules different in college? If they are the same, that was incomplete, the reciever just stood there, didn't move much at all before the ball was knocked out.

leinart dumps it off to guys who turn it into 30
yards. Anytime someone is in his face its a dump or sack. Its nothing
great, he looks to me alot like chris simms.  and
newport is dead on about white, he looks so much better to transition.
Reggie bush just doesnt look like he could do that against the faster
guys in the nfl

People said the same things about Tomlinson, and Bush is better. Not as big, but Bush can put on a little more weight in the offseason. He will be better than White.

And Dunn is a very good RB who ran for over 1400 yards this year. And he's also much smaller than Bush, 2 inches small and 20 pounds lighter as of right now. And he's also slower and less agile than Bush. EDIT: What I am concerned about with Bush is patience. He always seems to immediately take off on every handoff. That's an area where White is way ahead.

That was a hell of a game. One of the best I've ever seen. Vince Young is going to be something. I think he jumped ahead of Leinart in the draft if he decides to come out. Hopefully he doesn't fall into the Mike Vick trap. And that decision to go for it on 4th down late in the game was DUMB.

Huge game.I said to mysel after my last post that if Young could lead them back after being down 12 points I'd give him his credit and he deserves it.Very clutch.Now I need Reeggie Bush and whoever that guy was that dropped that 2nd and 7 pass on USC's last drive to go get drunk. get behind the wheel of a car, and drive themselves off of a cliff.I will now devote the rest of my football watching life to rooting against Reggie Bush as a pro much like I do against Michael Vick.I dont care what he did in the last 34 games, or what he did in this game, his piss poor play in the 1st quarter cost them that game no matter what anybody says.

USC is still one of the Top 10 teams all time.34 games in a row and 15 of those teams were ranked.Congratulations to Texas but tell me how great they are after they beat Oklahoma 2 years in a row.And you know what Snoogans.If Lienart is sitting next to a guy with 20+ wins someday in the NFL Young will be sitting in the replay booth with the likes of Rodney Peete, Major Harris, Darien Haggan and Andre Ware.All QBs that had great runs in college but won 10 more games in the NFL then this entire board.

He played more of a Mcnabb style. the way McNabb played before he apparently sold out and stopped playing like a black guy wouldI know you'e fucking with me, but I'd like to meet the black guy, besides Vick, who'd decide to run when he has TO wide open on almost every play like last year. Or this year when his groin was almost ripped in half. I don't watch college football much, and I haven't seen Young much, but he ran an awful lot tonight. Can't question the results, but he doesn't have the power of McNabb or the speed and moves of Vick so he's not going to be able to do what he did tonight in the pros. He's going to need to throw and I think he'll be able to do that. He's got a great arm and is accurate. We'll have to see if he can understand and execute an NFL offense which is always the biggest stumbling block.

no, he doesnt have the speed or power. He runs alot but they are
mainly called, he can throw, he led the nation in efficiency and throws
alot, usually well. 25 TD's passing or something, he will be a better
thrower then vick comparably, but i dont know if he is a lock great
player

Now and i'm not even saying that Young isnt better than Frazier, cleraly a better passer and stronger, as in power, runner but my point is more about Fouts saying that Young may be the greatest scrambling QB in college ever.I mean even Charlie ward won a nat'l title ( althought he shouldnt have )I'm not gonna take anything away from Young tonight because he had one of the best " Carry Your team On Your back " games ever.Even the stat about being the first guy ever to have 1000 yards rushing and 2500 yards passing was incredible.But I'm not gonna say that USC, or Matt Lienarts, legacy is hurt in any way by losing this game.If winning 34 games in a row was so easy why doesnt everybody do it ?

Yeah I heard that about taking Young #1.Thats why Lee's doing ESPN now and not coaching in the USFL or where ever the hell he was last.If Young had lost that game I'd have said his numbers were meaningless.Just like Vicks numbers against FSU when he lost the Nat'l title game.Run all you want but if you cant win the game it means nothing.But Young got it done and I never even once wished cancer on him.Maybe that was the problem.

Before this game I would've tried to defend Bush's NFL hype but as I said he's now on my shit list.That shit he pulled in the first quarter should have his H-man pulled from him.I dont care about the blown call on the knee down, the missed fumble call, the reason USC lost is because they failed to take a 14 point lead.If they had gone up 14-0 they could've blitzed Yoiung all day and the outcome might have been different.

USC's legacy will not be lost.  That was the greatest run in our lifetimes.  As far as Vick, he is a freak of an athlete but he cannot run an offense.  Their passing attack never has a rhythm.  Young has a strange release but his passing efficiency is great.  On the run, he is moving much faster than he looks.  My only comparison is how effective Magic Johnson was on the fast break.

The greatest run in my lifetime was Nebraska 94-98. They went 60-3 and won 3 championships. That '95 Husker team was the best ever.  As far as Young. I've never been more impressed with a single individual in any sport in my entire life. Tons of credit to the Texas O-line though.

SC ran alot of blitzes.  Many of them CB blitzes.  They left alot of running lanes for Young when he didn't throw the ball.

I think USC tied Miami (02 or something) for consecutive wins. I was a lot more shocked to see the Buckeyes beat that team then I was for this game.

I really hope Vince goes pro. This team could become the next great hype just like the one they just beat. If he does come back though, you can forget about the Heisman race. It's over now. Herbstreit and Fowler always backs the guys on top. It wouldn't matter what kind of year Young had.

All of the history in the making stuff was hype. ESPN spent all this airtime pondering how much this team would beat the greatest of all time. They are a great team, maybe one of the best. Even so they are still one of the most overrated teams in the history of football. Not their fault, it's mostly ESPN's. Yeesh....Let me deal with this first....
Mudo, ND has had some of the top recruiting classes in the country of
late.  So much for your theory on talent.  And how can they hang with
the athletes at USC, but not OSU?  And OSU isn't the second best team
in the country bc they beat ND.  They lost to both PSU and Texas.  Both
teams still rank better as well.  Blow that one down the toilet! Okay
let me say this then....Would anyone currently starting for the Irish
on offense start for Ohio State (that includes Brady Quinn)...And would
anyone currently starting on defense for the Irish start for Ohio State
(with the exception of the Abiamiri kid)?  Having top recruiting
classes means zippo in the long run...And I believe if Ohio State
played at least Penn State again, they would pummel them...As far as
the ND/SC issue goes, thats a rivarly game, and records don't matter... 
 I thought there were a lot of dumb decisions made
by SC last night...between Bush's lateral, and going for it on that
fourth down early in the first half when it was explained Carroll
wanted to call timeout, SC probably should have been up substantially
more than they were, and they let Texas hang around, and it came back
to haunt them, and I still don't understand the really short kickoff
near the end of the game, and going for it on fourth and two from that
spot on the field late in the game...Still a good game I guess...now I gotta do a lot of paying up...thank God i didn't do any "hair vs. hair"

Snoogans I kinda mentioned that earlier when I said that Bush and the other guy should drive off the cliff.It actually was a good call in that it worked but the stupide receiver, either a TE or a FB I think, dropped it.He would've clearly gotten the first down.But it did stop the clock as you pointed out.As far as who on ND would start on Oh St not only would it be Quinn but Fassano at TE, Walker at RB and either The Shark or Stoval could start on that team.

I know they were talking about Leinart having pressure in his face but I though he gave him a " decent " pass.So many what ifs for USC. They might have won that game 55-10 with the " what ifs "Texas on the other hand did what they had to do although you could say it might have been more in their favor if they didnt fumble in the first quarter.I just think that USC had them down and they were worn out but USC gave them enough of a spark by not converting that 4th down play.I agreed with the call as far as going for it but maybe they should've use a different play.I mean they werent gonna punt from there because it would've probably gone in the endzon for a touchback anyway.The reward would've been worth the risk.

College Football is a year-round phenomenon these days.National Letter of Intent Day is next week.  Although most kids verbally commit way before then these days.  Looks like Florida, ND, USC, Texas have good classes as always.Big news today, though was a top 5 QB changing his mind from 'the U' to PSU.  Pat Devlin was from PA, but committed to Miami months ago.  When UM fired most of their coaches after the bowl, Devlin had second thoughts, took a vist to PSU (his parents are alums) and changed his commitment.  With a few more kids PSU will have a top 5 class, including pretty much a clean sweep in Maryland (sorry Mudo).  The last couple highly rated MD kids are announcing today at the ESPNzone in Baltimore.  Both are chosing between UMD and PSU, if you are to believe the various online publicaitons.<img src="http://www.christpuncherrecords.com/sigs/fs_boh.jpg" border="0" /> We don't need a cure we need a final solution

My friends from college still attend a signing day party at LSU every year.Its held at one of the casinos and its like a 12 hour drinking fest.As much as I'd like the all day party the fact that its a high school kid signing day is kinda lame.The #1 guy on one site I saw was an undecided OL.

Well...our team is on the younger side, so I guess they probably would want to go somewhere where theyll get a lot of PT....

And we have like a thousand QB's...including that Portis kid that just transferred here from Florida, and we were rumored for a while to be in the lead for getting Brent Schaeffer, late of Tennesee and 1-AA but with the addtion of Portis, I don't know any more....(EDIT- He's going to Ole Miss(!)

We'll have a great team next year, between getting back Josh Allen, and hopefully some of the pups on offense and defense growing up, and some really good young offensive linemen...

I hope the kid recievers we got last year can finally make a difference...
