Or that they would have been swept in by now? FEMA was absorbed, for crying out loud, why not CTU?

* great to see Aaron being used last night - some good stuff with him this season. While I hate to see President Palmer, Edgar, Michelle and Tony all bite it this season, it's cool to see him and Chloe flesh out; great gun fight last night

* I love having Wayne Palmer come back into the story

* the woman from Homeland Security looks like Helen Mirran

* both the Germans and the Chinese now hate Jack Bauer

* now Audrey will have a story to share with her family at Thanksgiving, as she and her brother compare notes on being tortured by CTU

* if President Logan is supposed to remind of us Nixon, then I am guessing the Vice President is supposed to remind us of Al Haig ("I'm in charge")

* I still think Curtis might be another mole

* I am slightly disappointed in this season - at the end end of "Day 4," we were teased with the possibility that the show would take a radical turn in the next season, because of the entire "Jack on the run" angle. The only thing it really did was set up some interesting twists to set him up to bring him back, and kill a lot of old favorites; it's almost beat-for-beat however the same structure as previous seasons - not a bad thing (still one of the best shows ever), but it's not quite what I was hoping for.

* my big out on a limb prediction is that the final act of this season will be Jack chasing down Peter Weller, and it will be revealed that he has Kim-napped Jack's daughter - they were both at CTU at the same time, left about the same time, and they went to such pains to set it up that he was a psuedo "father-figure" when Jack died that it's easy to see where he would have had that moment of sympathy to trick her. There was no other reason to bring them all together at CTU at the same time, imo, and besides this entire season has been about making the tension personal - President Palmer, Michelle, Tony, Audrey and then his daughter.

Chloe is so efficent. When Jack told her to find a link between Audrey and Cummings, she found out about the hotel, contacted the manager, sent him pictures and had him send her receipts and phone records....all in under ten minutes. Amazing.

I was pretty sure it wasn't going to be the Vice President (love that actor!), but I never suspected it would be Logan. A friend of mine did call it, though, late in the show, right after the VP asked Logan if he was aware that Wayne Palmer was there - something about the President's reaction made her suddenly question if it was him.

Will be really interesting to watch the rest of the season with this knowledge - is it time for Mike Novak to be a gun toting here, or is he going to bite it finally????

Great episode, but I can already tell that next week will piss me off.

First, Secretary Heller is going to be confronting President Logan way too soon. If this was the next to last or last episode, then it would be cool, but with 6 to go you just know something is going to happen to Heller. He won't be bringing down Logan that easy or that early.
Second, the whole "we caught you Chloe, now you are being arrested" storylines are really getting annoying and predictable. How many fucking times does that have to happen each season?

Jack assured her they would rescue the daughter, which they did, but the woman was shot (I think in the leg or side). That was when she told Jack that it was President Logan who was the real bad guy - and that she had a tape to prove it in a bank vault.

Jack and Wayne Palmer drove her to a hotel - all of LA is looking for Jack - the entire city is in a lockdown. The bad guys want the tape and that woman, and Jack knows that they will be monitoring the hospitals and ER's for her to come in with a gunshot wound. He also can't call CTU.

Jack thinks about leaving Wayne there with her, but she assures him she will be all right - that he needs Wayne, just as another person. So Jack and Wayne leave the woman (Elaine?) and her little girl alone in the hotel, where she eventually passes out. The little girl freaks out - the mom wakes up and tries to get to her and collapses and hits her head - the little girl calls 9-1-1 and tells them her mommy is hurt, and gives the dispatcher her mother's name - moments later Henderson receives word, and he is quickly en-route.

The woman is awoken by paramedics, who call her by name - she freaks out, because she knows that if they know her name, then...BANG...the paramedics are killed, as Henderson walks in the room, looking down on the woman and her daughter.

Moments later, we see the bad guys making a bee-line for the bank where Jack is, with no mention of the assistant or her little girl.

Excellent episode tonight. This season, 24 is completely doing what the show was made for and the writers apparently are excellent at -- the old time movie serial. Move the plot along, tension, move the plot along, cliffhanger... just excellent. Can't wait to see how it all gets wrapped up. And perhaps we'll even get to see a bit more Devane!

Watching 24 is fun, but the suspension of dispbelief needed to get through each episode is getting harder to accomplish. Jack Bauer's inability to just play the god damn tape over his cell phone has me screaming at the TV for the entire hour. If he played the tape over the cell phone while on the plane, that Nixon clone of a president would have eaten his gun by now. And while I'm at it, that worm Niles should have been relieved of his position right after Chloe escaped. Now he will get what he deserves: sleeping with the fishes. And who are those "star chamber" mo fo's? The bald guy with the blue tooth headset is another graduate from Robocop 1, as well as Peter Weller. One more thing: why transfer Bialek out of CTU, when you have all the tools to interrogate him there? Oye. Despite the absurd pretexts, 24 still is must see every week.

The first 20 minutes of last night's finale was the best 20 minutes of 24 ever. I was glad that the petty officer who survived the attack survived... not many who team up with Jack do. The real payoff was Jack offing Henderson. "They were friends of mine!" Awesome.

I thought this season would be about the Chinese but shortly after it started I forgot all about them until (I saw that too Tall James!) the Chinese eyes through the ski masks at the end. Brilliant. Love this show.

But where the hell did Chloe get an ex-husband?! Did I miss something or did that guy just drop out of the sky?

I'm hoping for a special-ops raid next year... led by ex-secret service, now working for CTU man, Aaron!

Was it because of the deal with the Russians that Logan was all about at the beginning of the season? What was going on?

Logan's plot was to make himself look like a hero and simultaneously give himself more ability to strike back at terrorists.

Here's a thought: I think Logan or the Bluetooth guys had tipped the Chinese off that Bauer was alive and were going to leave them to clean up that loose end.

He OK'd the sale of the nerve gas to blame the terrorists and move into Asia to "fight" them while securing the oil fields. The Bluetooth guys set up that plan - they are probably some kind of Big Oil Bad Guy group.

But they'll most likely be back, and after Jack, when he gets out of China.

HSW said that the President would name names and in return would seek clemency. Bill said he doesn't deserve clemency, and HSW said that she agreed, but that the country doesn't deserve a long impeachment etc.

So by that conversation we can infer that the Logan dimes out the Bluetooth Mafia.

In the last conversation between Bluetooth and Logan, Bluetooth guy #1 asked what the President was going to do about Bauer. Logan said something to the effect that he's already worked out how to take care of Bauer. Since we didn't see any other actions taken other than the Chinese kidnapping Bauer, we can assume that the Chinese taking Bauer was what Logan was referring to.

From TVGuide.com:
24 Isn't Ordering Chinese

Despite how Monday's season finale left off, the sixth season of Fox's 24 will not pick up with Jack Bauer riding a slow boat to China as a political prisoner. "I don’t think much of the story will take place in China," executive producer Howard Gordon tells the trade mag TV Week. "It's just an impractical thing given the real-time constraints, because it would take Jack 16 hours — three-quarters of the [season] — to get back to L.A." If Jack's imprisonment isn't the hook for 24's January '07 return, what is? Howard shared no details, noting, "I just started writing the first [episode] this morning" — meaning only two or three main characters have been killed thus far.

They'll probably start the next season off with Jack escaping prison or something. They can't just have him working at CTU or DOD next season without some kind of explanation?

Maybe his escape from China could be the 24 movie.

But there's no way to have a movie out by January. 24 is most likely going to be a summer movie, when all the big actioners come out.
All three will produce via their Real Time Productions, as will Imagine's Brian Grazer.

No talent deals are yet in place, though Sutherland -- an executive producer of the hit Fox series -- has made it clear he's interested in starring in the film should it snag a greenlight.

Cochran, Surnow and Gordon will begin work on the script late this summer, just as production on the sixth season of the TV series gets under way.

Executives at 20th should have a draft of the script in their hands by early winter. Once they see the script -- and look at ratings for the first few episodes of season six, which kicks off in January -- they'll be able to make a decision on greenlighting production of the film.

Under the most optimistic scenario, the feature would be greenlit early next year and film next spring and summer during the hiatus between season six and a likely seventh season of 24.

Current plan calls for the 24 feature to abandon the real-time conceit of the TV show, making Sutherland's Jack Bauer, rather than the clock, the star.

I am guessing that they would have to abandon the real time format.... considering a movie is 2 hours or so.... how would they translate the real time into a 2 hour movie? I don't care how they do it I am first in line to see the best TV show ever (well 2nd to Seinfeld) come to the big screen....
