It's been too long since we've spoken about the baddest man on the planet...so while I was tooling around the 'net today & found that...Jean Smart will play President Logan's First Lady and Connie Britton will play Jack's new lady friend. - and - ...Carlos Bernard is back as Tony Almeida....Even though I rarely watched Spin City, it always seemed to be Connie Britton was the reason I stopped on the channel & got into the episodes.  I think I'm going to love her as Jack's girl.  Althought the fact that she's white bread, combined with the fact that they're not only bringing back the President but giving him a first lady tells me that Jack won't be headed for Mexico.  It's a ways off, but I can't wait.

I think the season will be about the president's men vs. Tony and CTU to see who will find Jack first and allow him to come back without facing charges.OOOhhh I hate that President Logan!

Did it mention how far after Day 4 this new season is set? How can Logan still be president? I guess Keeler was hurt very badly (I thought he was going to be okay, but since it's just one day he was out for the rest of last season after Air Force one went down)Jack probably went to Mexico to lay low for a while and is back in the US, but I hope they don't just write him being back working at a governemnt agency and skipping a whole season of "Jack on the Lamb" or "The Chinese Government is after Jack" shows.And didn't Michelle and Tony decide to leave CTU together because they both ended up in situations with a Terrorist having each of them kidnapped while the other is in charge at CTU and had to make "The tough choice"? <a href="http://www.xmradio.com/programming/channel_page.jsp?ch=202" target="_blank"><img src="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=skw" border="0" /></a>

The new season will begin in January 06. Heres what I think
will happen. Some big terrorist thing is gonna happen in the beginning
of the season and one of Jack's aquitances/friends is gonna die. And
then Jack will get word of this and rush to help and take out the
terror people and Logan will realize that Jack is the only one that can
help and say once you're done we're handing you over to the Chinese or
something like that or Jack tries to get back at him for trying to kill
him and Logan lets him save the country. And I think that this is the
season that Jack finally dies...just got a feeling...

Awesome!I thank those of you on here who through the Season 4 thread got me into this show.I
am fully addicted now and seriously cannot get enough of it. I think
the Season 4 DVD is out in a few weeks and if it is like the Season 3
DVD it should have a nice little Season 5 trailer on it.After
Season 4 Ended, I went back and played "Prequel" and watched Seasons 1
- 3. It sure answered a lot of questions and were awesome in their own
right. Makes me want to watch them over again before Season 5 starts.

Can't wait. Best show on network television. I got my 70+ year old parents into the series by taping Season 4 for them and sending it at the start of the summer (they love to complain about nothing to watch during the summer). They loved it, so now I'm mailing the Season 1 DVD set (which i rewatched, and it still is the best of the four, imo) and will get the others to them leading up to Season 5. For being old and in Kansas they can be pretty cool - 2 years ago they were giddy when they discovered The Sopranos, and then learned they could rent them from the library.

I never watched 24 before this season,man what a dope i am.definitely the best show on tv.i agree that they should not just skip over jack being on the run,there is a pretty good storyline there i think

I never watched it until earlier this summer. I watched all 4 seasons in a month. What a fool I was never to have watched it, this may be the BEST show ever on TV. I can't wait till Jan 6.  When does season 4 come out on DVD????...I was hearing December.

There seems to be such a backlash against FOX because everyone I talk to complains about how shitty their programming is.  In my opinion, it's not only the best network out there, it's the ONLY network that seems to come out with decent shows that really grab my attention in the ways that HBO does.  In addition to 24, I've really gotten into House this summer (I've been watching the repeats on FOX) and I think its one of the smarest shows on television.  It's a little repetitive and some of the plots are a little far fetched.  But the acting is solid and it pushes the envelope a little from what you expect from a medical show.  It's true that every season they try and introduce a bunch of crap that doesn't make it (this fall it's Prison Break and Bones).  But they also have some quality shows that really hook you in.  NBC is barely watchable.  CBS sucks. And ABC is the absolute worst.

it's Prison Break and Bones).I'm looking forward to Prison Break. Fox probably is the best network, at least it has the most shows I watch.

From TVGuide.com:HOBBIT JOINS 24: The Lord of the Rings hobbit Sean Astin has joined the cast of Fox's 24. Although he will work for CTU (which will still be headed by James Morrison's Bill Buchanan), the net isn't spilling another single bean about Astin's character, and it certainly isn't admitting that he will have furry feet. The clock starts ticking again on Jan. 8.

Haha, that's kind of funny. But I love Merry on Lost so I'll probably like him. Maybe he'll die quickly. I'm still confused about what the plot will be in terms of Jack and the timeline. I hope they don't jump the shark this season. I love this show.

I saw some of the marathon. They didn't do 24 hours straight through, but it was still cool. They are going to have 4 hour blocks on Mondays so a season will take 6 weeks to finish)

I know ive asked this in the past, and pretty sure nobody answered so ill ask again.  As far as the skipping of the "on the lam" angel goes, didnt they already skip one of those with that whole prison break thing?  Season 3 I believe, with the mexico thing when he broke out that dude to prove he was bad and he couldnt return to his coutry cause he was a fugitive, and it was true.  But how the fuck is he working in Washington last season?

The President Palmer was upset that he wasn't in the loop, so was his boss (Chappelle, who Jack shot in the head later that day with Palmer okaying it!) so he may have been in some kind of trouble that we didn't see (I don't think so, Palmer would have let it go, since he trusts Jack) but he wasn't a fugitive at that point.Jack killed a lot of people over these past 4 seasons, did he kill a guard during the prision break? I missed that (Do you mean the Russian Roulette scene?). But, yes, he did start that riot. Jack does a lot of stuff that your not "supposed" to do, but he does it for the greater good to help his country. And How does the government repay him? More cast additions reported today:The fifth season of Fox's 24 from Wonderland Sound and Vision and Warner Bros. TV, will add to its regular cast with Julian Sands, JoBeth Williams and Peter Weller.  Sands has been cast as a bad guy billionaire, Williams and Weller will be husband and wife - he's a federal agent. The coolest movie Mom ever from Poltergiest and Robocop!  Nice.

Per Variety, the "prequel," set 14 months after the Season 4 finale, kicks off with a clandestine meeting between Jack and Chloe and ends with Kim being devoured by a mountain lion. Did they explain what happened with President Keeler? Keeler was the guy running against Palmer during Season 3, Palmer decided not to run again and Keeler won, Air Force 1 was shot down during Season 4 so VP Logan was sworn in as President while Keeler was hurt. Did Keeler die?

I would say the speed of people finding out is just a plot device.  However, two things. 1)
Are you sure Fox news five minutes in was broadcasting Palmer had been
shot?  From what I remember, Fox News at CTU at that point was
playing up the Russian/US Summit, NOT the Palmer assasination. 2) We've already established that Logan's a fucking moron.

I'm a 24 fan since day one.Tonight, I watched with my driver, who has never seen one episode. I felt bad for him for the 1st 1/2 hour, since it was basically catching up with people he didnt know. I enjoyed it thoroughly, altho yes, certain suspensions of disbelief need to be made...as with every season, and every good movie.Anyway, at the end of the 2 hours, my driver asked, "what time's it on tomorrow?!" He's hooked.So now Jack/Frank has a another child-figure who just wont listen and ends up getting himself into all sorts of predicaments. At least this one can act.

The kid sees some suspicious guys go in the airport a few minutes later and in true Kim Bauer fashion ran in to warn Jack. Jack meanwhile finds the guy he was looking for, but is distracted when the suspicious guys who went in after him start firing guns into the air and taking hostages. While Jack is distracted, the guy he was looking for takes a suicide pill and dies.

A couple of thoughts: - Still the most amazing show on broadcast TV - HOW HOT did Michelle look? * Can't believe they killed her off within 10 minutes...I was so psyched that she was headed for CTU (& would be spending the entire day in a tank top) * - Crazy first lady Jean Smart looks like she will be a fantastic character.  - Seeing the pain in Wayne Palmer's eyes when he was in the study with Jack almost made me tear up.TWO MORE HOURS TONIGHT BABY!<img src="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=spe5150" border="0" />

Not a bad 4 hours.  Probably the fastest they've ever wrapped up a storyline (or at least a pre-twist storyline).It'll be interesting to see how they reveal the turncoat(s), and it looks like the plural might be possible.  The President's aid?  How deep is he?  How will they turn it around, a la Gael?  Is Mike Novick dirty?  Is there someone involved that we haven't met yet, like the new VP?  What did Palmer know?  And just how nutty is the first lady?Love this damn show.

I was at the Billy Joel concert last night.  Can somebody please recap last night's episode for me?

BUT meanwhile the new guy, Chloe's bed buddy from last night - let's in an assassin who kills the CTU doctor, and calls for Jack, saying that Tony is conscience and wants to talk to him.  Jack goes to the infirmary and the assassin attacks.  Jack kills him with surgical scissors.  The mole is outed but he thought he was part of an internal affiars investigation ordered by the White House.... specifically, the Chief Of Staff.  So Jack is going to get him - alone - and kick his ass.

11:00 A.M. The yellow tie man and his team transfer the canisters into a fake police SWAT van. They pull out of the hangar and exit the highly guarded airport.11:02 A.M. As Jack is being driven to CTU, he gets a call from Curtis who inquires about the yellow tie man’s possible location for escape.11:03 A.M. Evelyn is alarmed to find Martha passed out on the bed.11:04 A.M. Curtis pulls up security footage from outside the terminal and he sees the yellow tie man fleeing to a hangar outside the security zone. He goes there.11:06 A.M. When Curtis enters the hangar, no one’s there. He sees the hole left by the canisters. Curtis finds dead rats on the ground and he calls for forensics and biohazards to come in and inspect the premises.11:07 A.M. The yellow tie man moves the canisters to another truck. He tells his cohort Hank that “the Russians will finally understand the consequences of occupying our homeland.” The plan is to bomb Moscow.11:08 A.M. Logan comes to see his wife, who is groggy. She tries to explain to the doctor and Logan that someone knocked her out. Martha tells Logan that she had proof that Palmer called her to warn her about the day’s events. The document was hidden inside her blouse but it was stolen. The President still doesn’t believe her.11:10 A.M. Cummings advises Logan to send Martha back to a treatment facility in Vermont. Her conspiracy theories may leak to the media. Logan agrees to have her committed.11:11 A.M. Cummings assures Nathanson that Jack is en route to CTU. Cummings will take care of killing Jack because he has a mole on the inside.11:16 A.M. After getting confirmation from Curtis, Edgar lets Buchanan know that traces of weaponized nerve gas were found at the hangar. McGill orders forensics to figure out who manufactured it.11:17 A.M. Martha’s doctor tells Logan that he has no idea why she blacked out.11:18 A.M. Novick lets the President know that a second team of terrorists escaped from the airport with nerve gas.11:20 A.M. After seeing Chloe and Spenser argue, Edgar approaches her. He is upset that she has been keeping secrets from him about Jack and about her relationship with Spenser.11:21 A.M. Spenser returns a page from Cummings, who wants to know when Jack will arrive at CTU.11:22 A.M. McGill has Audrey question Diane Huxley because CTU is overextended. I missed the show last night.Forgive my ignorance as I've just started watching the show this season but is Cummings the dude who chloroformed the First lady and took the transcript out of her blouse or is Cummings the bald guy with the glasses that works with the President ?And on a side note that one lady that works with the boss at CTU, that questioned Jack's old lady last night, is one ugly dame.

Well, I don't think it matters which party the 24 presidents are in, It's just there isn't really a lot of carryover between administrations. Clinton's Cheif of Staff would not have a place in W. Bush's Administration. Presidents come into the office with a long list of people they owe favors to. A Presidential appointment makes a great gift!

ACTUALLY, the creator of the show, Robert Cochran, describes himself as a "right wing nut." I mean seriously, do you think last year's torture-fest was written by some crazy lefty Democrat?

And Keeler was the President who was shot down last year, and he was portrayed as someone who was competent and in control.

Look, at some point in the first season Palmer was off-handedly mentioned as a Democrat. Other than that, partisanship has been avoided completely on the show. People just need to stop worrying about it and enjoy the show.

Well, that person behind the bed sure was anti-climatic. All that suspense for nothing. Anyway, why is it every season someone at CTU has some personal crisis to deal with while everything else is going on? In Season 1, Jack had to deal with Teri and Kim being kidnapped. In Season 2, George Mason had to deal with dying and reconcilling with his estranged son. In Season 3, Tony had to deal with trying to save Michelle. In Season 4, Erin Driscoll had to deal with her nutjob daughter. Now, in Season 5, Lynn McGill has to deal with his crack whore sister. I personally find these side stories to be distracting and frankly annoying. There is so much other stuff to worry about, like saving the country. Who gives a shit about psycho, suicidal daughters and anorexic, AIDS-riddled sisters?

Now, in Season 5, Lynn McGill has to deal with his crack whore sister.Don't forget, we still don't know what the relationship between Lynn & Bil Buchanan.  They had some interesting scenes in the forst few episode that lead you to believe they had a past, possibly even a father/son relationship, that still has to play out.  And, of course, within two episodes of her return Kim will find herself in mortal danger.

I started laughing as soon as they showed Lynn's cracked up sister.  Yea, they have to throw that story line in... no one likes it but they do have to fill in those minutes.  They can't all be Jack beating people up.I saw that Russian runaway killing her captor right away too... a bit too predictable of an episode.

For the first time since this show has been on the air I'm losing interest. I'm satrting to feel like I'm seeing the same thing every week. HOWEVER, the subtle little connection tonight that is connecting this season to Season 2 had me intrigued.

I love when Jean Smart's first lady acts nutty - also love that this year's mega villian is Julian Fucking Sands. Brilliant casting! The only thing that annoyed me (but not really, because for me part of the fun IS getting annoyed by 24!) is that in 5 seasons now I believe we have had five dead guys hand a secret government chip to Jack - could be wrong, though!

He's not as much of a good guy as they've portrayed him to be in Seasons 4 & 5.

i have 2 thoughts about who the government conspirator might be:I agree with the mike novic idea to a point. he has motive, in that president palmer "embarrassed" him and tried to ruin his career by firing him (dont 4get, thinking as mike novic), so mayeb he wouldnt have minded seeing palmer die. and he certainly knew that killing palmer would bring jack out of hiding, and of course jack has something to do with novic's palmer troubles as well, so screw him. that said, it seems too easy for these clever writers to fall back on.2nd, i dont fully trust the 1st lady's assistant. why did she HAVE to know about why the guy hung himself and what was gonna be said about it?  i dont think she's alone, of course, but she could be in cahoots. Is it me or does mike novack look like a fit and healthy Dick Cheney?Also dont forget that David Palmer's brother also knows that Jack is alive and he could possibly be a person feeding information along.Is it me or has Jack Bauer slowly transformed into a modern day Batman? Also as far as Jack getting killed, i would like the show to do each day as a hypothetical how would Jack deal with this situation.  Like this season have Jack fail and the US gets gassed.  Then next season Jack does a different threat where he saves the world but dies in the process.  Its so much more believable then the same guy saving the world so many timesAnd maybe Edgar is an informant, isn't he also on the Sopranos?

  But the terrorists didn't know who he was, whereas Henderson knew exactly who was coming and why. There's also not yet any evidence that Henderson was actively working with the terrorists. It could be a situation like from last year or Season 3 where the company is just manipulating the terrorists for their own reasons, or something else where they aren't exactly on the terrorist's side but were just trying to make some money and are now trying to get rid of evidence.

I liked the episode.  I just felt reprogramming the key card was super unrealistic.  Why would they store a picture ON the card, when the picture should be stored in the local database and the card just references it.  That is the most unsecure facility I have ever seen.  And what kind of buildings have these ventilation systems where you can put a larger canister in.  Aren't they usually on the roof or in the ceiling?Regardless, the X-Men Trailer was amazing

Son of a bitch! It's one thing to kill off Edgar, and I could care less about Lynn kicking the bucket, but not Tony! They are really pulling out all the stops this season and cleaning house. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one more major character bite it at this rate.

it was awful watching lynn and that other dude die.  And like a girl, I cried a little when tony died in jack's arms, and jack was crying.  i think he cired only one other time?  after everything that he went through in previous seasons,  it sucks that tony went out that way.  very romeo & juliet like.also, is that it with kim, or do you think she'll be back to resolve things with jack and/or even chase?

Well, Kim and C. Thomas are leaving about the same time as Peter Wheller is escaping, and they went to such pains to set it up how he and his wife were there for Kim - so, my guess (not based on anything) is that Kim is around for awhile longer - she has a very tough time getting out of L.A. when things go bad.One thing I was annoyed about was why wasn't Kim asked to pitch in and help Choe? She's had some experience at CTU, afterall. Have we reached the 12th hour yet? It sure seemed like a half-way point (I should check). I liked the recap of the day from the President on his shitty day.

So, Tony is definitely dead?so the stuff they were injecting henderson (is that his name?) with was not truth serum? was it some deadly chemical or something? I was under the impression that another dose would be fatal to henderson and just put someone else-tony- out of commission for a while.  I f not then that is fucked up... I was looking forward to Tony getting revenge on the actual terrorist- the higher up.

Probably the best show this season, not any real slow moments, it not only ties up some loose ends but it also opened up upcoming storylines. This is just too easy of a setup. I don't think it's really Audrey behind this. I was like "Holy shit!" when I first heard her name, but after thinking about it, it just doesn't add up. Why would Audrey go through all the trouble of try to help Jack when he was out in the field and then make a push to get Lynn out of CTU when leaving him in would have done more harm than good. Something just doesn't jive here.

Once she saw him again all the feelings came rushing back but maybe she was desperate and bitter when she got involved with that woman. You never know what someone will do after going through the trauma she did last season.I'm just saying don't judge too quick. I thought overall it was a good episode but certain things definitely are getting more predictable. I knew something was going to happen to that list after Jack got what he wanted. And Palmer's brother? Holy crap, they did NOT hesitate to take him out.
