View Full Version : Stubbed my toe, BAD.

So I have a tripod I use to take different shots with my digital camera sitting on my floor in front of an old desk in my room. No big deal. That is, until I stub my little toe on my left foot on it. Wow it smarted, but I didn't bother to stop and look at it because you stub your toes on shit all the time and you're fine. It was paining me as I went to sleep, but I just figured it was bruised a little.

Goddamn! When I woke up this morning and went to put my socks on, I noticed what had actually happened. My nail was split in half and peeling away from the front of my toe. I played with it for a minute and it started bleeding again. Shit, no wonder it hurts like that. I guess my toenail will fall off now. Very lame. It doesn't look bad, but it's gonna fall out, I just know it.

Anyone else do something like this?

The second I got to the split toenail part, I stopped reading. Torn toenails and nails that pop off stories, creep me the hell out. I can't even hear them. It's making me sick just thinking about it!

That has got to be one of the worst pains ever. Sort of like
slamming your finger in a car door and having your nail come off sorta
thing.

When I was a kid, I had a door get slammed OVER my foot (weird door frame, living overseas at the time, long story) that caught my big toenail and essentially slammed it back INTO my toe. Easily the worst pain of my life. And because of the nature of the injury, the nail couldn't fall off or drain, so all the pressure built up over a few days until my toe was purple and I had to go the doctor. To free the blood trapped under the nail, the had to puncture the nail itself with a heated needle, and my God, the pressure was so great the blood shot across the room and hit the wall. Contrasting the pain earlier, this was the greatest feeling of relief I've ever felt, possibly better than any sex I have had or will have. THEN, again, because of how I was injured, the new nail kept growing in sideways, and I had to get two surgeries to repair the damn thing.

In short, if you're trying to kick your brother's ass for being a little shit, be sure to catch him BEFORE he can slam the door shut.

I feel your pain, Moe. And then some.

Wow, that's far worse than mine. My toe actually stopped hurting all together and I was able to jam with Unhallowed last night.

Mojo's story does remind me of a time with my father. He had somehow slammed his finger at work and blood was building up under his fingernail. We sat there at the stove, under the yellowish light of the stovehood, heating the needle and burning through his nail until the blood came out.

Good times.

after taking a shower my oldest brother George 'for some reason' was walking real fast back to his room and he was all happy 'probably going on a date' and his feet were still wet. he wound up slipping on the linoleum and his foot slammed into the corner of the dresser. i've never seen happiness turn to sadness and pain so fast in my life. i couldn't stop laughing...

I jammed my finger in July or early August (can't remember) while trying to catch a football. I didn't really think much of it at the time, and figured it would go away.

The pain is pretty much gone, but there are times when, if I put a certain amount of pressure on it, the pain comes pain, and its October. I think I mightve sprained it or fractured a bone or something.

Well an update on the toe. I guess I greatly over reacted. I mean it's kinda dark under the nail but nowhere near black at all. It's still got a crack down the middle, but it's growing fairly normally and stopped hurting like 2 days later. It's just there now. Hope it grows out in a couple weeks.

Add me to the list of victims.

I woke up about 0400 to get a drink of water. Now I've been here for 8 months so I should know the layout of my quarters pretty well right? Well, half asleep, I start walking out of the kitchen and walk right into the corner of a wall, jamming my big toe right onto the edge of the molding. I didn't think it was any worse than a stub -- until I saw the trail of blood on the floor and a nice flap of skin peeled back.

Good times.

Another toe update. It seemed as though it was growing normally, so when I went to cut that nail, 3/4 of the left side of the nail came right off. There's about a 32nd of an inch of nail sticking out from under the cuticle or whatever you have on your toes. But it never hurt after that 1st couple days and it's not discolored.

So I guess that's that.
