Holy shit were those cars fucked up!!!

<p><font size="1">Ok...for those who do not know where I am or where I live, let me give you a brief introduction. I live right next to this little (sarcasm people...) piece of road called the Garden State Parkway. It is litterally my backyard.</font></p><p>So I was talking with a friend of mine at 2 am and suddenly I heard not one but THREE crashes on the parkway. They were not fender bender crashes either. They were the 'holy-shit-look-out-for-that-car!!!!!!!' type crashes. I immediately picked up my cell and called 911. they already got several calls on it. So I headed in my car to see what happened. </p><p>About 5 mins later I arrived on the scene.&nbsp; There were three cars that were FUBAR. (ask me what that means if you do not know) One was a japanese import. One was either a Ford Expedition or Lincoln Navigator and the third I could not even recognize anymore. I think it might have been a Lincoln Mark 8. But all of these cars were totalled. The SUV had NO front end anymore. The jap car was destroyed on the driver side (all up and down it) and the unrecognizable car (we'll call it the Mark 8 from now on) had NO back end...it was totally pushed up to the passenger seat. No trunk...nothing. What made this worse is the Mark 8 was not only in the middle of the highway but also sideways...he was taking up 2 1/2 lanes of traffic.</p><p>I passed the accident and noticed on the&nbsp;northbound side (the accident was on the southbound) there were 4 cars all pulled over. As I came up to the accident on the Northbound side I came to the pulled over cars. I asked if everyone was ok. ALL 4 of the cars had flat tires. One car had two flat tires. It seems that the accident was so severe that the debris landed on the northbound side and these poor people shredded their tires from it.</p><p>Well I could not just let them sit there on the side of the road. AAA does not come to you if you are on the parkway. The state police hire a tow company and they charge you about 100.00 to tow you off of the parkway. So I got to work and helped them. </p><p>The 1st guy I changed was a Newark Cop named Bob. He was with his wife. He was onhis way home from his daughters wedding. Had him finished in about 15-20 mins. He tried to give me money. I refused. His wife gave me a big hug, which was sweet of her. Poor guy could not believe i turned down the money. I told him he just got done spending thousands of dollars on his daughter for tonight. Save up all he can. He laughed on went on his way.</p><p>Now that left 3 other cars, including one who had 2 tires flat on the passenger side. So I organized everyone (they were ALL women) into a caravan to head about 1/2 mile up the parkway on the shoulder. We all had to drive V E R Y&nbsp;&nbsp; S L O W L Y because of the flat tires. I brought up the rear with my hazards on. We came to the Shell station in my town and I had everyone pull into there. Then&nbsp;I changed the next two sets of tires. Sent them on their way. One was two black girls who just came from a club in Sayreville NJ. The other was a sweet older black lady who was on her way home to Paterson. She also tried to give me money. I told her to keep it because she needed a new tire AND rim. </p><p>The last car were 4 girls who came from the nearest gay bar (two of them were lesbians). These needed AAA. They were the main reason why I moved the cars off of the parkway. Well that and it was dangerous to keep them on the side of the road while trying to change a tire. They also had a pair of friends who followed them from the club also, so there were 6 of them in two cars.&nbsp;I waited with them until AAA came and took care of their car. Nice girls. They seemed ok. We also got to see the cars that were involved in the accident as they passed us by when we were sitting in the gas staion. </p><p>To quote Will Smith&nbsp; &quot;DAMN!&quot;</p><p>The 4 of them rode in one car while the driver/owner of the car and the AAA member who used her card rode in the truck. Everyone is...I hope...safe and sound. </p><p>It is now 5 am as I finish typing this. T

<p>Being serious...that was probably the coolest, nicest thing I have heard someone do in a long time.&nbsp; I had a flat going up to Boston about 10 years ago right around New Haven, CT.&nbsp; I know how to change a flat, but some man pulled over and asked to help me right off the bat.&nbsp;&nbsp; He helped me get a new tire on and get the lugs on...&nbsp; </p><p>I was going to give the guy 10 bucks cause that was all I had. He&nbsp;went out of his way to help me..it was the least I could do.&nbsp; &nbsp; He wanted 20 and he wouldnt put the last lug nut on until then and held it.&nbsp; I was so steamed....I got 10 more dollars from my girlfriend at the time and sent that ass on his way.&nbsp;</p><p>After that guy took off, I thought about it&nbsp;and could have been worse.&nbsp; </p><p>But I digress....my hat's off to you sir.</p><p><img height="400" src="http://www.pewterkingdom.com/Olszewski/RonLeeHatsOffToYou1559.jpg" width="271" border="0" /></p>

Tru dat!!! I was driving through Asbury Park, Spring Lake and Belmar.
And the places in near the lakes over flowed. Don't know how many
parked cars and houses got flooded. Does car insurance even cover that?

<p>One thing I forgot to mention is that I spoke with the officer who was first on the scene of the accident and he let us know what happened. Apparently the guy driving the Mark 8 stalled in the middle lane and either could not or was trying to move over. And he got plowed into. I asked if there was evidence of alcohol involved and he said the drive appeared sober and he could not smell any alcohol on his breath. He showed no signs. So this was a true accident. </p><p>Wow.</p>

<p>Hey look I admit that it was weird to go to see an accident scene. But you have to also remember a few things. Having been to my place before you know how close I am to the parkway. So with my window open you can hear accidents as clear as if you were in the car yourself. It just sounded so severe that I wanted to see how bad it was. </p><p>Also it was 2 am. I was bored out of my mind. It was a friday night and I had nothing else to do but sit online and play cards, so I figured why the hell not.&nbsp; If this happened at like 7 pm and I was in the middle of doing something I would have called 911 and just read about it in the paper the next day.</p><p>It's not like this is the strangest thing this board has ever heard about.</p><p>Oh and Jay....you have to be one of the funniest posters I have ever seen. <p>Ok...just got home. To try to clarify Jenn's crack reporting....I was stuck in traffic on Route 78 East in PA&gt; About 15 mins from tje NJ border. There was an accident (calm down spoony...THIS one I stumbled onto) and the road was shut down. I actually turned my car off for like 20 mins. I saw some people who were getting out a map and trying to see where they could go. As luck would have it we were right next to the exit for Rout 22 (which runs parallel to 78 and will also get you into NJ). So I asked where they all had to go. About 3 cars, including the ones reading the map all had to go at least halfway into NJ.
