Guys will do this and understand where I am coming from...  A UPS guy will stop a light and a FedEx guy pulls up next to him and they will look over at each other an one of them will nod, and the other will nod back.  When its Blue Collar guys, its a slight flip of the head upward. But then there is the Corporate head nod..You manager will walk through the office and you'll get eye contact and youll do the Blue collar head nod, and he will do the Corporate head nod back at you..  The Corporate head nod is a slightly to the side head nod, almost like a salute. So which do you do?  The Blue Collar or Corporate?

I just say "Hi (insert name here)".  I don't care if its the mailroom kid or the CFO.  The head-nod is as stupid as the Power Tie, Team Building Exercises, Sensitivity training and about a hundred other stupid innovations that have been incorporated into the corporate world in the past 20 years.Here's a novel concept.  Do your fucking job.  Do it well.  Make a good impression.  Move up the ladder.  And don't expect it all to happen immediately.Sorry for the diatribe.

I usually do the straight nod.  But I got a lot of fucking awesome moves.  Thumbs up, the point, the nod AND smile, the big tough frown, and the crotch chop at people I know and want to mess with.
