View Full Version : How do YOU prepare for a Dr's appointment?

Im going to a new Dr tonite for the first time.  So, I showered and shaved (all over) and brushed my teeth. Why do I do this?  Am I the only one who does this? Im my mind, I reason that if Im clean, the Dr wont be "offended" by my body (I know, its rediculous), but it is my fear that it will turn them off (not that I want them turned ON...either).Does anyone else, prepare for an examination by cleaning yourself excessively, or impuslively?

But seriously, yea.  I haven't been to a doctor in awhile, but it's only natural to clean your body if a person is going to be looking at it.Nothing weird about that at all.

I usually freshly shave the 'gina region.  I don't want the doctor to pull out a machete and start clearing pubes like an explorer clearing out brush in the Amazon jungle.

The doctor doesn't really care how you look like. You could be as
clean as a whistle on the outside but the  thing the doctor is
concerned about is what's on the inside, what your blood pressure is,
any past medical/surgical history and how your bloodwork results turn
out. Good luck.   And don't forget to pay the co-pay.

i have a very superficial doctor...last time i was there he was commenting on my half sleeve tats. then he had the nurse who is pretty hot come in and look at them...thing is i haven't worked out in years and have the muscletone of patrick from spongebob squarepants, and of course i had my shirt off. the nurse was kinda cute, so of course when she came in i sucked in. and of course she was one of those "what does that mean" people. worst doctor visit ever.

probably put you on some type of blood pressure medication and wants to
see how your body reacts to the meds. 2 weeks is pretty quick though,
it must off been high enough to demand an immediate follow-up. Did your
doctor discuss what foods to avoid, tell you to lower you salt intake,
exercise and all that stuff?   Now you have 2 weeks to prepare for the next appt. Good luck!

Good luck!  Your right, he did tell me to knock out the salt (damn cheez-it's!) and start excercising.  But he didnt give me any meds, and seems to think it might have been high because I was nervous about seeing a new Dr and if its still high in 2 weeks, he might prescribe some meds for lowering blood pressure.
