I figured I'd be a nice guy and get my grandma XM Satellite Radio. Roady2's are so cheap and I could just add her to my existing plan for like 7 bucks a month. There's a 40's channel I was listening to the other day and there were a lot of artists I remember her talking about on there. Plus I figured she'd like the old time radio and all the Christian stations. From there I was sure she would find the news and a few other things useful on the radio.

So without asking her I went out, bought a home kit for a Roady2 at the mall and put a bid in on a Roady2 on Ebay.

So one night last week I took about an hour after work, set up the home kid, connected my Roady2 from my car and went through all the stuff I discussed above. I figured it was a lock.

She looked at it and said "Naa, I don't think I'd use it."

Great. The home kit was only 15 bucks and I can use it myself in my room I guess. But I COMPLETELY forgot I was trying to win a Roady2 on Ebay....until tonight.

Good News! I WON my auction.....

Horray. Jesus, now I'm gonna have one sitting around. Kinda sucks. I guess I could try to sell the idea to my Mother or Father.

Grandma totally hosed me man.

How did your grandma screw you over if she didn't even tell you that
she wanted one? You have no one to blame but yourself. So in thinking
that you would be doing something nice for her, you screwed yourself
over. But look on the bright side, you won that auction on ebay.

Hey Moe, How much do you need to be rid of that extra Roady? Lately I have forgotten there is daylight outside from 11-2, since I only have XM online. With school starting Jan 17, I see the potential for missing a lot of RF and frankly it scares the bejeezus from me.

Or is that Blakjeezus?

I am looking forward to neither one being scared from me, hence my inquiry to you.

I can't GIVE this fucking thing away! I asked grandma AGAIN! I told her I won it anyway, would she like me to set it up for her to see if she digs it. She said no. My mother doesn't want it. My father doesn't want it. My bandmates Bob and Jenn don't want it. None of them are Ron and Fez or O&A fans so I couldn't sell it even on that. And I offered to pick up the 7 bucks a month for all these people! It was a FREE RADIO I was offering, and NO ONE wanted it.

Well, I guess I'm probably gonna sell it unless I decide to keep it for some stupid reason. Since I have a Roady2 that works great and is still under the warranty, I'm not leaning towards keeping it. Plus, seems you can get a Roady2 cheap anytime.

Very disappointing.

Well great news. I offered the Roady2 to my Mother and she said NO. But then this morning changed her mind. So tonight I brought in my Roady2 and set it up for her. She seemed interested and my father loved it. He was totally impressed by the BBC World channel and wants one ASAP.

So looks like not only will I be adding my mother's account, I'm back on Ebay to get another Roady2 for my father.

So it all works out.

HAHAHAHA!!! I like that Steels wants to fight my grandma now!

I love my grandma and of course I'll get her things after this, it just really took me by surprise when she turned down a free receiver, free sub, free home kit and I'd set it all up for her.

I know some technology fear is involved, but I feel the Roady2 is easy to use. She knows how to send E-mail on her own, visit her favorite websites and scan photos. She would have picked up the XM. I would program in her favorite 10 channels or at the least leave a small list of channels next to the thing for her to key in.

My bet is this. In 2 months I'll be back in here saying how grandma saw my mother amd father's Roady2 and reconsidered.

Quick update.

I couldn't find a Roady2 for the deep discount I had found it for on Ebay, so I went out tonight with my father to get his XM radio.

Went to the Willowbrook XM cart. The normal kid I enjoyed talking to was gone, and in his place was this other guy. Less than helpful. Plus all their fucking radios were pretty much gone. All they were selling that was cheap was the Roady XT. I don't want that one, I want the Roady2. It's cheaper. They were also out of home kits. Fuck this, I walked away.

Best Buy had Roady2's for $30 bucks. Bingo, thank you.

When I got home and activated it, the fucking signal was on in 5 minutes.

So now my dad is hooked the fuck up. He's very excited about this thing now which made me happy to pay for the service and hook up for him. He loves NASCAR, enjoys some country and jazz and will be leaving his radio on the BBC almost all the time it seems.

www.unhallowed.com One Big SeXXXy Blog Death Metal MySpace

DTN

Last update:

My mother's Roady2 I won off Ebay arrived today. The original radio that I wanted for my Grandma and the radio that started this whole thrad. Activated it and it only took like 5 minutes to receive the signal AGAIN! Very nice. I guess maybe it took them longer to set up my original account but now that I'm set up extra radios get turned on faster. No idea really, just happy to have the 2 of them set up so quickly.

So that's about it. My mother will use her's in our house mostly and my father in his car. After one day my father was raving about having the BBC 24 hours a day.

I printed them out the newest full color channel line up from the XM site and now they're free to flip around, explore and enjoy. I also told my grandma that if she sees how great the Roady2's are and she changes her mind I can still put her on my plan.

But that free radio thing is out the window! She'll have to pay out the 20-30 dollars for the receivers.
