Oh my GOD is this band terrible. I borrowed the CD from a guy I work with. Only reason I wanted to hear it is because this funny video I saw called "The Emo Song" refrenced it.

Just awful. He lent me "The Silence in Black and White" and it made me want to wipe brown all over it. The screaming kid cannot scream at all. The singer is fucking whiney as hell. The music has no energy, direction or feeling in it at all.

This just re-affirms my disgust for Emo. I'm so pissed I'm thinking of reformatting my hard drive just because Hawthorne Heights was on it.

Ya know Nicky, I don't want to attack you but I have to ask you as a fan of this band. What good do you hear in the music? This was one of the most passionless CD's I've ever heard. Just nothing of any worth there. The guy screaming was just awful and added no edge. The kid singing was whiney which just made me want to beat the shit out of him. The music was unimaginative and cookie cutter at best.

I want to know why this band is any good.

I'm guilty of liking some emo, not really into Hawthorne Hights, The Starting Line has a good screamer.Those emo "How could this happen to me" YTMND's are fucking hysterical, I start cracking up every time I hear that song now

Bob only screams, that's what Death Metal singers do. He's a cleaner scream, not the guttural kind that bands like Cannibal Corpse made famous.

EMO is this EMOtional music with many influences from Rock to Punk to Metal it seems. It ends up just whining all fucking day.

They have been playing the latest Rush movie on VH1 Classics every other night. Lee's voice is half of what it used to be.Neil - was one of the greats, now it looks like is is struggling to compete with his legend. Hawthorne Heights IS NOT EMO!!! It is considered Screamo a subcategory of Emo. Most emo fans do not like them. Emo bands = Dashboard Confessional, Further Seems Forever, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Get Up Kids, Reggie and the Full Effect, to be honest alot of lawrence, KS bands are Emo for some odd reason, (old) The Starting Line(before they got into screamo), Yellowcard, New Found Glory(old stuff), The Alkaline trio, Saves the Day, Bayside, Something Corporate, Mae, The Juliana Theory, And you will know us....(not all their stuff), Jimmy Eat world. shit like this is considered emo. there are other Emo type bands, there are so many different types of things classified under emo...Fugazi, Jawbreaker and earlier other ones are considered Emocore (where it all started) but they have a much bigger fan base of people who dont listen to "newer" emo.   it all just depends on who you ask and how you look at it. Sunny Day Real Estate is kind of the be all end all of emo for alot of people in the emo world.

Emo like other forms of music has different waves Early Emo - Fugazi, Husker Du, Jawbreaker (alot of washington DC bands)First wave - Sunny Day, Get Up Kids, Weezersecond wave - Jimmy Eat World, DashboardPresent - so many bands are lumped into this category, My chemical romance, hawthorne, something corporate, taking back sunday, starting line, the used...some are emo some are screamo some have no label and just get put into emo.  all just depends on who you ask, there is no definite label...but me personal would not put Hawthorne heights as emo, i also cant stand their crap music, but i do listen to Early, first wave and second wave emo and some present (early starting line, something corporate)

nailed it back when Full Collapse came out and ever since Victory and
seemingly every other hardcore label has been putting out the clones.
So many of those hardcore labels used to be great and pretty true as
far as the music goes and then one band hits it big and no, I'm not
saying its Thursday's fault but the label just sees dollar signs and
forgets where it came from.It is just sad seeing what happened
to a label like Victory. They had so many god bands and true hardcore
bands, even inventive hardcore bands back in the day and now it is just
a money making corporate machine with only a handful of good bands. 
If anything it pisses me off because the market has become so
overflooded with these bands, they do all sound alike and I can't see
there being any passion when all you are striving for is to be rich. I
have not even listened to Thursday in about a year because these newer
bands have just ruined them for me. Kind of shame it is like that but
oh well.Also from what I recall wasn't most of the emo that was
out there audible to the point where you could hear what the singer was
saying? This screamo garbage just bites. I used to be all over it but
again, the market just got so flodded and bands would not stand out.
Thursday really stood out as something unique and original. I was so
blown away by Full Collapse when I heard it. Yes, I came on board late
late and heard Waiting Soon after Collapse.

i like Hawthorne Heights b/c its catchy, good beats, and its music i
can relate too. lyrics r great. the screaming thing can be a bother,
but other then that, i love em. i'm into all types of rock. emo is
popular b/c its catchy and people can relate to the songs. also, i
wouldnt mind seeing 80's band come back. VH, poison, whitsnake, def
leppard, winger(who are HIGHLY underrated)
