We've known for years that Earl was a bit odd in his manner and perceptions, but today's meltdown was proof that he's a pretty sick individual who should be getting some psychological help.

From his clutching of the bible the other day to his refusal and apparent fear of being hypnotized to his maniacal reaction to a little bit of pressure today just proves that Ron and Fez are sitting on a powder keg, and its name is Earl Douglas.

He's a decent guy who I believe truly tries to do his best, but he's living in some strange world of denial along with a crippling inability to cope with the stess of the workplace. One of these "blowups" is going to go too far one of these days.

I hope he gets the help he so desperately needs.

I gotta say the R&F show wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for Earl. I love the musical discussions and he and Ron are always turning me on (eww) to artists that I should have been listening to in the first place. Today's show made great radio and I'll stick on Earl's side through this.

The real problem here is Wiki, not Earl. Don't let them fool you.

I listened to R&F before O&A, and I must say, after listening to Earl on O&A, it REALLY sounded like he was trying to create the impression that he was taking responsibility for Dave's fuck up, when it was Earl's fault. That's pretty low.

Did anyone hear Earl stammering and stuttering when Ron asked him if
David Lee Roth was back from vacation and on the air again? It's
a dead giveaway that he's lying whenever he does that, and he proceeded
to fabricate a story about DLR being on a "permanent vacation" as well
as the "new" lineup at Free FM.

When a caller corrected
him on it, Earl immediately blamed his misinformation on an
intern. It's like he's terrified to say "I don't know" when

He almost fell over he was passing the blame on so fast. And this was neither some stinky shit, nor a particularly large fan. Earl's starting to come off as a little two-faceded, to quote Rich Vos. Same thing that happened with the Emmys and ESD, he said he would "take responsibility" for the channels getting switched, but implied that it was Dave who was really at fault. I don't know, Earl. I just don't know. Maybe he's a good producer, I have no idea what's involved in that, but I don't think I'd want to be in a foxhole with him.

I was just as ready to believe what O&A had been saying that David Lee Roth had lost more than half Stern numbers, and was in a steep nose-dive.They also noted that seriously when trying to BUILD a show you rarely take a big vacation so soon.To COIN a CLICHE' the "Writing is on the WALL" as far as Roth failing that station. It wouldn't be a big surprise if he was replaced by "Hambone Spammy and the Sports Guys" from who-cares-where Delaware. I still think East Side Dave would work great in that early morning slot and perculate like a Maxwell House commercial. He brings natural cheese flavoids to the table and wears PANTS.

Earl is horrible on the air and he is a liar. He does not understand that apologizing every time he tries to blame someone else for his mistakes is not enough. He is poison. On air and off air. This is one example of how his incompetence off air can be bad for the show. It made it worse when he would not admit his mistake until he knew there was proof he screwed up.

Yes, Mr. Douglas once again was more than willing to throw a
co-worker under the bus today. It's becoming very predictable and
very, very sad. Whenever the least bit of heat is thrown his way,
he immediately seeks out someone to blame (other than himself, of
course) and he has become what can only be described as a compulsive
liar.

Wake up, Earl. You're not a 19 year old

I can think of many times when Earl has been complemented on his music by Ron (today for example). Seeing as Ron can't (at the very least won't) do the music for the show, I would like it to be done by someone whose musical-opinions he respects. I believe Earl is such a person.

For the small negatives that Earl may bring to the show, his positives are astounding. He has done an amazing job and really adds to the show. First of all I love his musical tastes and knowledge plus he brings a great new perspective to the show.

In an odd way I find it kind've racist that people can handle a white producer to the show having an on-air fight, though if Earl has one he's out of control and scary. Easily Wonderboy and Al Dukes antics on the air warranted the same level of response, whether it was smashing a car window, or breaking a foosball table, yet because Earl today threw his headphones off and got into a screaming match with Dave he's mentally unstable.
I agree with what se7en said, about it looking like Ron was seizing an oppotunity and it was tough to listen to, but as the show went it on it seemed clear that there were aspects of the show behind the scenes that were Earl's responsibility that just weren't getting done - when you get the same answer from the same people who are clearing giving lip service to placate you, then why not find the quickest work around to get what gets done? It's an element of all event managment - it doesn't ultimately matter how sloppy it is behind the scenes if it is seemless to the people it needs to be.

You're telling me Keisha and J. Dubs could get the CBS hook up and Earl can't? Maybe it was easier because CBS and Infinity were the same thing, but they are not on an island (ok..they are...Manhattan...errr...) - they know people everywhere.

Hell - he makes enough where he can pluck the shit on his own credit card ($10 a month for 3 montsh); this is something Ron talks about every year and even casual listeners knew this - summer time = Ron watching Big Brother feeds.

I dig Earl a lot, but I have to say I've been very surprised at the meltdowns and shitting the bed that has been brought up on the air - long before he worked for them, I always assumed he'd be the one producer that wouldn't ever let them down.

Then again - as Matty pointed out - maybe it was blown out of proportion because of personal shit - but tensions have been going on for awhile now...

<span style="font-family: "bookman old style";">Evolutionists have always maintained
that man and dinosaurs never lived together and I must admit that the notion
that they did didn’t quite grab me either.
But upon checking out various websites and also The Bible, there is
significant evidence to support it. Many
have argued that given a dinosaur’s size, it would have been impossible for
Noah to get one dinosaur, much less two into the Ark.
In Genesis 6:13, God tells Noah that the Ark must be ‘300 cubits, its width 50 cubits
and its height 30 cubits.’ Under today’s measurements, the height of the Ark would be 45 feet,
width at 75 feet and 450 feet in length.
Of most animal species, the ones that are stronger, faster and more apt
to reproduce are the babies. They also
sleep more and eat less. If you were to
take a still growing brachiosaurus onto the Ark,
it would be about only 15 feet tall and would easily fit onto the Ark.

I think Earl has anxiety issues. He has a bad stomach probably from stress. This fainting pass out thing was brought on by the fact he lied about banging that mental patient. He can't think in high pressure situations and the constant stress of lying about the girl has made him even more anxious. When hes doing something hes confident in like softball or working the board hes fine otherwise keep those drug companies on speed dial.

Earl has always been a liar but lately it seems to be spinning out of control and that is whats causing the anxiety.

*I also think it really bothers him that people can see through his lies so easily. Maybe Earl's worst showing ever. It went from ball busting to intervention to something very sad. There were many mouth dropping comments from him that really freaked me out - that interchange with Dave, where he either didn't understand what was said, or tried to backpeddle, was just the peak. He's had a string of really bad moments for weeks and weeks now (maybe since the XM Remote in DC, but obviously before too), but there was always hope that he was at the corner to turn it, or that it was just amped up for the air, but today's culmination and airing of shit that hasn't been brought up before really really just underscores how so many people who have worked on this show, are fans of the show, or even casually listen to this show at one point deserve to spend some time in the nut hut.

Earl is just scared that he will lose his job to the Midnight Rider.

Last Friday I put my personal opinion of Earl aside and shook his hand and thanked him for opening the XM show with AC/DC and putting "Happy Birthday Gvac" on the pad data. I said to him "It takes a big man to put aside our differences, and I wanted to thank you for the birthday tribute." He replied "Happy birthday Gvac."

Today, however, I find myself at odds with him again.

Earl's inane (and insane) rambling about Sleeves, Mikey D, Dave, etc. concerning the upcoming Hard Rock event was a case study in his lunacy. A man who likes to fancy himself the Captain of the ship is nothing more than a deck hand who would take the first life boat off a sinking ship while pushing women and children aside.

I know Earl's mental problems make for great radio, but I'm hoping his review with Wicky leads everyone involved to realize that the show would be better served with a more stable (and capable) producer at the helm.

I think Earl has strengths, but producing isn't one of them. I don't think he has the mental capacity to handle it. I know wouldn't be able to myself. It's a tough job and takes a certain kind of person to do it right.

I don't work in radio, so my opinion isn't worth much.

I am sorry for kicking a man when he is down, but I think Earl is in for bad news when he meets (or at this point has met) with Wicky. He is probably in for some sort of probation or censure at the very least.

However, do you think he will be relieved fo duty? Has he screwed stuff up sooooo badly that XM would go that far? And how would that translate to the FreeFM show?

I don't wish the guy ill, but there are certain "requirements" a producer has to meet. What do you guys think?
