People who know me and my habits always say that I use too many paper towels. I use HUGE amounts of them. I will often pull off like 8 sheets at once for when I eat, or batch, if I know it will be messy. A napkin never does it for me. I think they are one of the greatest inventions, and they have certianly made my life easier. Any other high volume users?

i try to use them sparingly. at my house my dad likes to use them after washing his hands and it bugs me especially when there's a nice dry dish towel right there...

if there's a spill my daughters go right for the paper towels and it bugs me especially if there's a couple wash rags right there...

save the trees

The primary reason I prefer them over dish rags and the like, is because of their sterility and convienience. I figure if someone else dried their hands on the dish rag, and it is no longer "clean", then I am really fouling them with the dish rag. I also would rather not wash the dish rag. My wife wipes dry the dishes with the dish rag, and I figure if I didnt do the best job washing my hands for some reason, that my contamination of the dish rag might taint the newly clean dishes when she dries them with the rag. When Im alone, I dry them with paper towels too. I know my excessive use of them is probably not the most "Earth friendly" practice, but I am environmentally considerate in other areas.

While on a guitar course w/ Brit Robert Fripp; he said he keeps a Kitchen Roll nearby during lessons for those who burst into tears. I had no clue what a kitchen roll was, but someone as clueless asked; hence the term, at least from Bournmouth/Dorset England, for paper towels.

Man, this sort of topic really got my creative juices going. I think I'm going to invent something. It's going to be an diary that one can post on the internet. Hmm... what should I call it? How about "internet diary"? Naw... "web log"? Close, but no ceegar. Ah! I've got it. I'll go with "blog," short for "web log"! Boy, this is going to be great! Now people can post their everyday thoughts and people can read them at their leisure. I hope this catches on.

What paper towels are good for ((and reasons I've had to use them in the last few months))

Cleaning up puke
Cleaning up mold in my dorm fridge ((coz I was on winter break))
Cleaning up juice spills on my desk
Use for after washing my hands ((no air-dryers in the bathroom at the dorm))

They're handy and I enjoy the prints... right now I'm using one with kitties and puppies... quite nifty!

I like 'em too--but use them sparingly. I really liked when they came out with the
ones that would rip off in smaller pieces, so you wouldn't waste a whole big sheet
on some tiny pile of cat puke or something.
