View Full Version : Where have Fezatorials, Iris, Nature Boy gone?

I saw something about RF listeners missing Fezatorials and Iris on Wackbag.com and have had similar concerns myself lately.  I love the current version of the show and think Ron and Fez are doing an awesome job, but I miss some of the old bits and features they used to do with more regularity or do not do at all now.I used to look forward to Fezatorials all day Friday and really miss them.  Similarly, I don't know WHAT is going on in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn nowadays, and Mr. Flair is largely MIA.  Even Bad Guest interviews with Andre and Iris are few and far between.Am I the only one who feels this way?<img height="100" src="http://home.comcast.net/~bob80/RFnetmarcpsych.jpg" width="300" border="0" />

Could you rewrite that, but more angrier, so when i read it I can imagine Opie's angry typing guy?To answer your question, you're not the only one, but as long as R&F keep on putting these kinds of stellar shows I'll barely miss them.

OK, I've tried search, I've tried FAQ, but no luck.  Sorry for asking this, but who (or what) is Iris?Although I heard a couple of R&F shows before they left WNEW, I didn't get hooked until XM.  Any help for a relative noob would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Ron would do a voice supposedly of an old woman from Brooklyn who would call up the show and generally take everything incorrectly and subtly harass Fezzie for being "sensitive."  She would also be one of the callers whenever R&F had a bad guest on the show who was boring everyone to sleep.<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_and_Fez#Characters" target="_blank">Here's her info on Wikipedia...</a> Raspy voiced elderly woman from <a title="Bay Ridge" href="http://www.ronfez.net/wiki/Bay_Ridge">Bay Ridge</a> <a title="Brooklyn" href="http://www.ronfez.net/wiki/Brooklyn">Brooklyn</a> who often complained about the Jewish community who inhabited parts of Brooklyn. Long time member of the Ron and Fez Show, you never know when Iris will call in with her perspective of current events, or her impression of the show, or it's guests. Often the first one on the phones whenever R&F have a "Bad Guest," in 2005 Iris frequently confused the guests with her intriguing questions that often didn't pertain to the subject.

I used to live near Top of the World, but I know Iris wasn't from there. I'm thinking St. Pete, but I don't know.
Iris began as a caller on the Hooters on the Radio show in the mid 90's.

As Mikeyboy said, the Fezitorial has morphed several times over the years - the most recent, XM version were Fez's audio diaries after the heart attack (he did the audio diary last year when he went a week without television - it killed!). I may be wrong on this, but I think one of the last semi-official Fezitorials was about 3 years ago with his birthday ("You tell me about Mama Cass, and I'll tell you about Missy Elliott"), even though he broke from his much beloved template. <div> </div><div>Iris took a long vacation before showing back up at WJFK - I remember everyone shitting themselves when she suddenly called up. We also haven't had a full flung comedy pyramid, but it definately sounds like we've come close - slowwwwly training their listeners!</div><div> </div><div>Loving what they've done with the place so far - great new stuff with some old stuff when they can find room for it. </div>

I miss the Fezatorials and the Nature Boy too, Iris was ok but I don't miss her as much. I think it would be cool to revisit old characters and bits once in awhile for nostalgia sake.
