As you may or may not know, Middlesex County, NJ, specifically Edison and Woodbridge, has a very large population of Asian-Americans, especially Indian-Americans.Yesterday, I had to take a train up to New York for a meeting, and I caught the train from Metropark (In Iselin, between Edison and Woodbridge) to go in.One thing I noticed was a proliferation of billboards touting Kaun Banega Crorepati - "The Biggest TV Show In India... EVER!"  There was at least 6 different billboards, all with different slogans. Looking at the fonts and the logo of Kaun Banega Crorepati, I deduced that it was India's version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire".  What intrigued me, though, was this guy...  <img width="195" height="215" border="0" src="http://movies.indiainfo.com/profiles/images/ab.jpg" /><img width="230" height="160" border="0" src="http://www.hindustantimes.com/wfsf/medium/2006/01.12/images/medium1597014.jpg" /> His face was plastered all over the billboards, like he was some sort of big deal.  I didn't know what his name was.  Apparently, he's got major face recognition in India, that you don't NEED to know his name.  Come on!  He's THAT GUY! But one billboard held a clue. "A Show So Exciting, None but the Big B could host it." Slow down.  The dude is named "The Big B"?  This is... fascinating.He looked like the Indian version of Eric Bischoff, and his name is the Big B.  I must know more. So I went home and started using google.Apparently, this guy is like the biggest star in India, from Bollywood.  It's like he's Jack Nicholson or some shit like that.His real name is Amitabh Bachchan, hence the name "The Big B".  I guess.  But yes.  I researched a guy because of a fucking billboard.  I hate myself and my craving for knowledge.

Info about Big B:His name is Amitabh Bachchan and he is like the greatest actor in the Indian movie industry of Bollywood.  Think of him like the Marlon Brando or Al Pacino of India.  Technically, he is a bigger star than them as just in India alone, one billion people watch his movies.  Not to mention, he is equally admired in the neighbouring countries of Pakistan and Bangladesh which would add close to 400 million people.  He is also greatly watched in the Middle East and now the Indian movies are becoming more popular in Europe and the US.The reason why they call him Big B is because he named his son Abhishek Bachchan who shares the same initials.  So calling him Big B is sort of referring to him as Bachchan Senior.Before Big B, Dillip Kumar was the big name in the Indian movie industry.  His son Abhishek is also quite good, but will take him a long time (if ever) to get to the same stature as his father.  The other very popular movie star is Shah Rukh Khan (aka SRK), so don't be surprised if you see his photo on billboards all around, I know I see them everytime I go to the Indian square in Jackson Heights, Queens.  Though SRK is and has been the greatest actor for the last decade or so, Big B is a legend. Stoned!

No offense but please do not compare any "Bollywood" actor to Marlon Brando. I have tried to watch a couple Bollywood movies and they are disasters. Most of them seem to be some kind of musical and the acting is so bad. I will admit some of the women are beautiful, but they cant kiss on screen and they show no sex appeal excpet for those wraps that may show some belly button.
