View Full Version : I love Ron & Fez, but I can't imagine getting XM..

Channel 202 is O & A, all the fucking time. Best of, Worst of,
than the live show. I'm at work while the boys are on live, and I've
fallen asleep when they come on with the replay at 12. So everytime I
try to see if they're on, it's O & A.

Thing is, I love O
& A but I don't see the point in buying XM to just hear them all
the time when I wanna hear the boys as well. So when this XM preview
membership is done, I am.

Let the hate from all those who haven't read a single word start here...

Yes, it is rather annoying, but we have been promised thet "things are in the works."

Jynx, trust me, XM is well worth the $12.95 a month. If you only get to hear the weekend replays it's worth it. Even if you don't, there's 160 channels!
Every type of music and talk is covered, and most of the stations are
commercial free. If you're a baseball fan, you get every
game.

I bought XM last summer and a few weeks ago the car
antenna for my Roadie needed replacing. I went a week with no XM
while working all day and almost lost my mind. I had forgotten
how awful terrestrial radio truly was. The only saving grace was
that the week I was without satellite was also the week Ron and Fez
were off. Still, it was a nightmare not having XM and I wondered
how I ever lived without it.

dude, believe the hype. if there's a worst of on that you've already heard or if it's a commercial on, there is literally always a song that you are dying to hear on at least one of the channels. it's totally worth it.

I know its already been said, but I'm going to say it again anyways. XM has more than 170 channels. When Ron and Fez aren't on 202, just start surfing around to see whats on. They have something for pretty much everyone. For me, I only listen to RnF at work, so the reciever in my car almost never leaves Bluesville. I refuse to go back to regular radio, for any reason.
XM's not JUST about Ron and Fez.. or Opie and Anthony. There hundreds of channels from music, talk and everything else to choose from. You're not paying 13 bucks a month for JUST 1 station... I've had XM for over a year now. Originally I bought it from O/A .. then I found out about everything else and paying 13 bucks a month is worth it...

The way I go about it is I'll download the show that night it aired and listen to it on my mp3 player at work, this way I get to hear what I didn't hear in the afternoon or at night.

check for a little program called odc downloads

I was one of the most vocal opponents of getting XM last year before Ron and Fez moved there. I was pissed at the time slot. I was pissed at the midnight replay. I was pissed O&A were talking about getting even more new talent to fill up the channel. I was pissed at the investment in new equipment. I was pissed at the subscription fee.

But what it came down to is this. If you want to hear Ron and Fez, the best radio show on the planet, you'll have to get it. That's what it came down to for me and I just did it. 1st online only then the full sub.

You can get the Roady2 or the RoadyXT for about 30 bucks now so it's not going to kill you for a receiver. If you want to you can get the portables but I didn't and I'm happy. The $13 a month isn't that bad.

I do understand that $13 a month on something that's not a necessity doesn't work out in everyone's budget. I was called a cheap ass for not wanting to spend 13 a month, I really wasn't in a very good financial position last year when I did it, things are a lot better now. But back then $13 was gas for the week back and forth to work. I won't put you on the guilt trip. It's just that XM is becoming more and more affordable and even with all the O&A on 202, Ron and Fez are still worth it.

And lastly, Opie's been saying "Things will happen" for Ron and Fez forever. I just don't think O&A have as much pull as they'd like us to think. Don't expect that anytime soon or ever.

I feel XM overall is a great service even beyond Ron and Fez oe O&A. I would stil consider keeping XM if either or both shows weren't even on. I definitely enjoy the channels, the music variety, the programming across many of the channels and the offerings are getting better all the time. I'm at the point now where R&F and O&A are the great bonuses that go along with the service.

That doesn't mean I don't have issues with somethings such as I wish there was 7-11 replay (plus a 4 hour show). But as others have said, things are in the works and I think it'll happen in time. In the meantime I'm enjoying the service.

I'd only be buying XM for Ron & Fez.
Trust me, XM can not cater to my musical tastes. I've asked around.

I listen to mostly underground rap such as Jean Grae, Little Brother,
Cannibal Ox, Non-Phixion, Sean Price, Bang 'Em & Domination, R.A.
The Rugged Man, Dialated Peoples, Vakill, MF Doom, & Devin the
Dude. And those are just the ones that no one has heard about. Then I
have all thos old Outkast, & Mos Def albums, and the underground
Papoose mixtapes, along with a bunch of unknown rock and techno (I love
all genres of music).

So yea, XM can't please me. I know 2
people that have XM and hate most of the music I listen to who have
warned me that XM "doesn't play my crap". And I haven't heard much of
anyhting I like while listening to the music channels during this
preview. But, they did tell me about Eminem's Shade 45 and the fact
that they play some Papoose when Kay Slay's show come on, so I'm
thinking about that. But I hate Stern. So fuck Sirius as well.

So yea, sattelite radio isn't for me. Sorry to bitch abouit it.

I can understand the music not impressing you, it doesn't do a Goddam thing for me. I know what I like, thats why I have an iPod and fill it with my music. I don't have to wait for a computer to play what I want.

I love Metal and we're getting Liquid Metal back on the 17th, but I know it's not going to be exactly what I want. It'll be about the only other station I even tune to for longer than 5 minutes besides 202, but I still get XM mostly for Ron and Fez and O&A.

And just to let you know, O&A were always 2nd to Ron and Fez in my mind, but they grew on me even more once I got XM. Just a suggestion, you can check out their free trial for 3 days, or even just sign up for a month of online service for 8 bucks to check it out cheaply with no receiver investment.

currently on the tail end of their 3 day preview. O & A sound
really good uncensored, and Jim Norton has gotten better and better.
He's on point all the time. I listened to the Lazlow Show yesterday
since I was stuck at home (didnt have the money to go get my long
awaited tattoo for the 2nd week in a row). Speaking of which, is Lazlow
kinda racist or something? Cause the n word was coming out for no
apparent reason yesterday. I tried to shut myself up and enjoy the show
but it kept coming out. What was that about?
