They aren't cleared just yet. The statement about the DNA came from their lawyers... not the police or DA.

BTW, the best part about this is that police said "signs of a struggle" were apparent at the house where the party was at. Holy shit - IT'S A FUCKING COLLEGE HOUSE RENTED BY ATHLETES!! Of COURSE it's going to look like a crime scene.I'm hoping the ACLU goes batshit on the university for the kid who was suspended over the email.

Actually I think the DNA results were released by the State Police to both the " defense " and "" victim ".What I don't understand, after just reading that no DNA was found on the woman, her posessions or anything she allegedly touched, and that even if they used a condom some type of DNA would be present, is that they can still be charged.How in the hell could they have raped her if there's no evidence whatsoever ?Listen if somebody raped her I'd want justice regardless of whether she was white, black or whatever but it seems to me as though this was a scam.The report also says that there was not even any proof of recent sex on her.The most comical thing, after reading all about this lady's violent and spotty legal past, is how people are saying " oh they didnt need to say that about her ".The prosecution has brought out stories about the players having public urination charges and that was supposed to de so damning.I can assure you a lot more people have peed in public and not raped somebody.How many people have stolen a taxi, tried to run down a police officer and then faked a rape ?Again race gets involved in this and has no place.

I don't know what other evidence they have, but rape cases were prosecuted long before there was DNA testing.Here's a question though... If they are exonerated, will the coach un-resign?

Understandable that there wasnt DNA used for convictions in the past but what could possibly convict them ?No witnesses or maybe 46 that say no rape occured.Are they gonna be convicted of rape because they may or may not have used some unpopular language ?They keep going on and on about how 95% of the kids that go to Duke are from afluent families.What does that mean ?Rapists are more than likely to have families with bigger bank accounts ?I know the point has been raised beofre but would they have canceled the basketball season if a black basketball player was accused of raping a woman either white or black ?

Well she wouldn't have been in that house if she wasnt a stripper/exotic dancer.

I'm pissed. This post is not about the possible guilt or innocence involved in this case. It's about a newscast I saw less than half an hour ago. WRC News (NBC 4 in Washington DC) was reporting about one of the accused guys in this case. Barbara Harrison led the story by saying, "One of the Duke University students accused of raping the STRIPPER..."Why do they report it as a raping of a stripper? Why not report it as the raping of a woman?

It's almost like by saying she was a stripper it makes it not so bad.  I also read that they took several samples from each player and run more than one DNA test, so even though one was negative another may yet be positive. I don't know if that is true though. The kid suspended by the University can call the ACLU all he wants. Almost all Universities have anti-harassment as part of their code of student conduct. Threatening to kill someone would fall under harassment. So Duke was more than likely in the right to suspend him. I know I would have suspended him.
