This website is very informative and downright frightening.

http://www.ki4u.com/guide.htm

If close to a target, your first indication of a nuclear detonation may be with its characteristic blinding bright flash. The first effects you may have to deal with before radioactive fallout arrives, depending on your proximity to it, are blast and thermal energy. Promptly employing the old "Duck & Cover" strategy will save many from avoidable flying debris injuries and minimize thermal burns. Those very close will experience tornado strength winds and should quickly dive behind any solid object or into any available depression, culvert, basement, etc. A 500 kiloton blast, 2.2 miles away, will arrive about 8 seconds after the detonation flash with about a 295 mph wind blast that lasts about three seconds. An even larger 1 MT (megaton) blast, 5 miles away, will arrive in about 20 seconds. Hopefully, you are not near any target area 'ground zero' and will only, like the vast majority, have to deal with the fallout later.

I live in an apt in Manhattan which due to its small size is one big ground zero. I cant store stuff, create shelter or anything and i doubt i will have enough time to run anyplace.

But you country folk, should store stuff and create a basement shelter.

my dad's a character. he is always preaching about being prepared to meet jesus and being right with the lord yet he stocks up on water, first aid kits, and stuff for camping. i always reply "where ya going" i thought you were ready to meet the lord?

lets just say after a certain day, living 30 min from the pentagon/dc, my mom decided we should be stocked up on water and canned goods down in the basement. i called it the 9/11 2 supplies, but we dont have a shelter or anything as cold war as that

Yeah, but are you gettin' it? - Armageddon it!
Ooh, really gettin' it? - Yes, Armageddon it!

I live in a semi-rural area about 60 miles from Washington DC. The view of the mushroom cloud should be pretty spectacular. Then again, I could be closer to ground zero than I think. Mt. Weather is only 10 miles away and it has some pretty top secret stuff that would make it a possible target.

When it happens, I hope to take to the hills with Bobo and lead the revolution with him.
You have no idea how serious I am.

Didn't the Anastasi, the Myans, and a couple of latter day prophets all predict that the world is going to end in 2012? Also, didn't someone, Nostradamus maybe, predict that the current Pope is the LAST Pope. Lots of different people zeroing in on one particular point in time.

Don't know whether it's gonna be in the form of a nuclear holocaust, but sounds to me like armageddon's comin' kids. Batten down the hatches.

Not that I believe all that crap. Just sayin'.

I drove to Atlantic City this weekend, and on RT 40 East, Saw a bunch of billboards that said" 6plus 6 = 6, the signs are all around ) kind of creeped me out.

Also, didn't someone, Nostradamus maybe, predict that the current Pope is the LAST Pope. Lots of different people zeroing in on one particular point in time.

i fully believe that the world will end in December of 2012. I don't know what it will be, I almost would rather be surprised. I think the MesoAmerican civilizations said that it would be an earthquake and that a flood already caused an end of the world before (Atlantis?). If its not something having to do with the Earth I think that its possible that it could be the Return of The Jesus. I figure i'll procrastinate till the beginning of December and then i'll get some shit done.

James Kingsley has predicted an " 'End of Days' Atomic Air Strike in 2006. Two or three MiG fighters will drop bombs on nuclear facilities in Washington State, Oregon and San Francisco. This will be done by a secret alliance of China, Iran, Syria. Somehow France is involved.

this is from the link above, and i love it

I dont think it'll happen here. I think it will happen in the mid-east and effect Europe and cause their economy to tumble and we will try to bale them out and go bankrupt in the process. Then the Chinese will take over America.
