Last night, I was at dinner with my parents at a restaurant near a Sears.

Now, who shops at Sears anymore? It's all about Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Kohl's. I can't remember the last time I was IN a Sears, let alone bought something there.

However - there was a flyer on my truck from Sears about a "Friends and Family" sale going on the next night.

And the flyer advertised a BBQ Grill with a side burner for 79 dollars, which is a pretty good deal.

My last grill - the replacement for the grill that got stolen - was retired when we moved last year. We never bought a new grill.

So Baz and I went up to Sears tonight to find this mystical 79 dollar grill.

And we gets there... and no grill.

Of course, I'm a little pissed. I flag down three sales associates, who all give me the same story - they NEVER HAD THE GRILL IN THE FIRST PLACE.

My anger was rising. "IT'S ON THE FLYER! How the hell can you advertise something that's on sale, not offer a raincheck and not offer the grill?"

The manager came over and started being kind of a dick to me, and then offered to "order the grill for me".

NO! I WANNA COOK HOT DOGS NOW!!!!!

But then the manager realized something - he couldn't order the grill because the grill was a clearance item specifically tagged for this sale - and his store never carried it but advertised it.

So we're at an impasse.

Finally, the manager relents, and tells me to pick out a comparable Kenmore grill, and he'll give it to me for the price of the original grill.

OK... well, Kenmore isn't as sexy as Weber or Charbroil, but hell...

So I got this:

39,000 BTUs. Side Burner. Three grates.

The "sale price" for this grill? 179.00.

The Matty Fridays Discount, with tax? 75 dollars.

I RULE!
