View Full Version : Do you ever talk to yourself?

I live alone so I always find myself talking out loud. I also have cats and I talk to them all the time (I'm sure my neighbors think I'm nuts!). But what really bothers me is my muttering in public. I tend to hate people and I'm the first one to mutter "douchebag" under my breath.

Am I insane or does the rest of the peanut gallery do it too?

I talk to myself too. Especially when I'm thinking things through. I don't have my cat anymore to talk to...god I sound so pathetic!

All the time. I trick myself into thinking I'm talking to my dogs to feel less insane. Then I remember Berkowitz. God I creep myself out.

I think to myself more than talk to myself, but I do that too. Mostly in the car.

I don't talk to myself as much as I talk as other people.

i crack myself up with my jokes. i love to make myself laugh.
i talk to myself all the time. the more stress i have to more i talk to myself. I dont do an internal momolug, it is a full conversation with no one else but me. I dont think that there is anything wrong with it as long as you dont argue with yourself, thats nutty.
I do talk to my dog too. one some weird level i think she understands me, but i know that she doesnt. too bad, i think she would be interesting.

The worst is when I offend myself with my own jokes.

So am I the only one who mutters "douchebag" and "asswipe" under their breath in public?

I have been doing this to an alarming degree lately and I am wondering if I am going nuts. I sometimes make pretend I am talking to a customer on my phone at work to "fool" people around me I am on the phone, and then sometimes my phone will suddenly ring and blow my cover. Bastards!!
In the car I talk a LOT, and as soon as I get in the car, I want to call someone on my cell.

I also get into imaginary arguments with cops as I am driving! In my fantacy, I am shooting off viscious one liners and making him cower, and meanwhile I am the biggest puss on two feet.

I got into a fight at a party one night when the "under my breath" comment wasn't as "under my breath" as I thought. Since then I have tried to be more careful.

i dont mutter it, i jsut it like it is a matter of fact. like lets say i am getting crappy service somewhere i will say "oh ok, i didnt realize you were aloowed to be nasty, let me try", or "oh no, i wasnt just standing here online, i was holding a spot for you until you were ready." It makes for a minute or two of awkwardness but to me it is funny.

I just asked myself if I talk to myself, and I said yes.

I talk to myself some. I do it very quietly if I'm not alone in the house. A little louder if I'm alone. The worst ever was during a 4 or 5 day coke binge years ago. Not only was I talking to myself, but I was talking to quite a few people who weren't really there, too.

I live alone so I always find myself talking out loud.

Ditto, but I prefer to call it "thinking out loud".

I tend to hate people and I'm the first one to mutter "douchebag" under my breath.

Ditto. Or other expletives. AND sometimes out loud.

I sometimes email myself and then not reply so that I don't feel so guilty about all the other people's emails I haven't gotten around to replying to - gives me the excuse "Hey! I haven't replied to me either!" This is both a confession and an apology. And a bore. I'm a douchebag.

since this thread has degenerated into dumb shit you do, i'll add one.

EVERYTIME i walk into a bank and i wait on line, i get real shifty eyed and look at the ceiling at the cameras counting each one. i've noticed a few tellers and a few customers get turned off by this behavior. then while i'm on line i play the scenario where i knock over the bank. i'm telling you i think i can totally get away with it.
