View Full Version : I'm Still Shaking!!!!

I just had the scariest fucking thing happen to me! My co-worker left her dog
here at the office while her and the boss went to some client's for an hour. I'm
here by myself. The dog was just laying there, then it started growling at me,
then showing it's teeth and growling louder and louder. I was over at another
desk when this started and I was too scared to walk across the room! This dog
is scary looking to begin with (albino doberman with blue shark eyes) but this
co-worker insists how she'd never hurt a fly. I called my bosses cell phone and
told them to come get the dog immediately, meanwhile I'm a prisoner waiting
for this dog to lunge at me! Christ it was so scary, I'm still crying and shaking.
And I'm an animal lover, I've never had this happen before with any dog. I keep
thinking what if she had attacked me? I would be dead right now.

<p>No wait, that makes no sense. Sorry.</p><p>That is very unusual, glad you're OK. What makes pets snap like that? Have that fucking dog looked at.</p>

I have no basis for this, but maybe it was because you're pregnant? Dogs are very sensitive to hormone levels and pheremones and all that.

Hmm, that might be! And then she smelled the fear once I got scared. Deadly
combination!
I know this is a lame thread but I was so freaked out...I can't even describe how
scared I was. I was sure if I got up from that desk and tried to run for the door she
would have attacked me. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

<p><font size="2">The dog was probably trying to assert it's authority over you, like it would in a pack situation. Do you happen to be the owner's subordinate in your place of work? That may have exacerbated the issue.</font></p><p><font size="2">When you went to another person's desk you were straying outside of your "normally approved area" (at least in the dog's eyes). The dog was probably trying to maintain the status quo and keep you in line since you were diverting from "your normal place."</font></p><p><font size="2" /></p><p><font size="2">Of course the dog could just be a jerk too - I really can't say.</font></p><p> </p>

<p>Holy Shit! Glad you are OK. I may have crapped myself.</p><p>A dog that is not yours, or one you don't know can be a funny thing. They can be very protective of their owners. Perhaps you being in the owner's space while she was not there set the dog off a little. The growling is a way of saying "Back off, Bitch, I gotta job to do." And yes, a dog can smell fear a mile away. Especially an alpha.</p><p>Don't make eye contact or take a threatening posture. Try "good Puppy", or sing a little song. Throw the mutt a piece of sandwich or something. I guess that is waht I would try if I were ever in such a position.</p><p>Once again, I'm glad you are OK.</p>
