I just love republicans, they talk so much shit about liberals. They talk from their soap boxes about morals and religion and all the other shit they spew. Yet they do whatever they want and cheat like mother fuckers. I love how they spent $40 millon on bill clinton getting a blow job which to me was funny, yet they spent less to investigate 9/11. I cant wait for the impeachment hearing to start against Bush, just a matter of time. This is the most corrupt adm I ever seen/heard of/ lived through.

check this out

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060713/ap_on_re_us/phone_jamming

I think it could be done, even if he doesnt get impeached, just as long as all the sht that he and his adm has done will be exposed. That will be fine with me.

It will all start after Dems win in Nov and take over the Congress and the Senate.

The fact that anyone still sees it as a Republican / Democrat conflict is beyond me. It's them against us. And by them I mean the corporations. It's 1984, baby, and the big business is the Party, and the Party is in control. Instead of Newspeak and the Thought Police, they have the government and the media. And they whip us around like ragdolls, insight some outrage over here, throw some crumbs over there, and Bazingo, we're too discombobulated to notice that they're robbing us of our freedom and destroying the planet. The future is now. Welcome, make yourself at home.

I blame the public. Suck-shit politicians have been around as long as politics has, but we now have a system where we can shit-can the fuckers. But instead of objectively judging their actions in our open society we largely choose a partisan or ideological side and defend it like it was a war. What was described by the founding fathers as a "free market of ideas" has become a free-for-all of ideologies. What was once civil debate is now self-richeous demagoguery. The result is that the American political culture is dominated by hatefull masses of people devoted to demonization of the "other side" with no ability to be self-critical or even objective. They've chosen the most extremist bunch of leaders we've had in a century, and rational Americans are left to choose between a small group of zealots, with moderates left on the sidelines.

The problem is us. If we were willing to do our homework and TRY to be objective; if we would learn the issues instead of the talking points of our "side" we wouldn't have half of the shit-stains we have in Washington. I say "fuck us!"

What would be the grounds for impeaching Bush? You can't impeach someone just because you don't like him and you don't agree with what he's done.

Blame Bill Clinton for the $40 million lost - don't blame other people. He's the one that lied under oath about sexually abusing an underling. Not to mention other past alleged rapes and alleged sexual abuses.

By the way, both sides suck. I hate liars on either side. I just don't understand why the liberals have to lie as well. All they should do is say "we're in favor of gay marriage, abortion and stem cell research". I'd vote for them if they did that. Instead they focus on things they can't prove and they just lie and make stuff up and whine. That shows people like me (in the middle) that they are just as full of shit. The only sane Democrat is being murdered by his own party (Lieberman).

That's just my opinion. I'm often wrong about things. I'm still figuring things out myself.

but its not the system that makes it a 2 party system, its the fuckin idiot conformists who vote. Most people who vote by party are not going to vote any other way no matter what cause they dont listen or care about the issues, thats what they are. Things wont change until people actually start to make up their own minds and then VOTE how they should. When the smart people who actually think stop voting, nothing will ever be fixed cause that leaves only the idiots causing the problems to vote. If everyone who just said fuck voting went out and just voted independant, they would get funding and into debates and something might actually change
We have recently had candidates who truly cared about the country rather than the special intrests (Nader, Dole, Lieberman, Gore, and Perot), some of whom were independents, but they were all squashed like bugs because they did not fill the right pocket. This occurs on every political level, from the local town Mayor to the Presdident of the United States. It cannot be stopped, and will not be stopped. I was a registered Republican when I was first able to vote in '80, then when I thought we got screwed by Bush Sr., I switched to Democrat. When I realized, after Clinton that they are all a bunch of ASSWHACKS, I registered as an inependent. That's all I felt I could do, so not to align myself with one of the two major parties. Remember... The face of the Democratic Party is Howard Dean and Ted Kennedy. The face of the Republican party is the Bush family and John McCain... We're screwed, plain and simple!

Yes. The only blue areas of Texas are that and Austin. My point is that that Southern area there certainly has plenty of racists and bible thumpers, and isn't particularly urban. I guarantee he'd be miserable if he had to spend a week there. Yet it's blue.

Also look at San Diego and Cincinnati. Both solidly red. Both real cities. Both just happen to be very Republican historically.

See I have to disagree with you. The only thing Clinton did wrong was lie about getting a blow job under oath. This was to protect his family, personal life.

I don't have a problem with him lying actually, and I understand that part of it. My issue is more to with him putting himself in that position to begin with. To risk the presidency over feeling horny is just a bad judgement call is the way I feel about it. I'm not saying he's wrong to have wanted a blowjob or anything, though he should have considered the situation he was putting himself in.

Republicans amaze me!

Me too!

I once say Senator Conrad Burns of Montana eat an entire 58 ounce steak in one sitting, then finish off his meal with a conservative bowl of sherbet.

A few things.

A lot of the rest of the world has hated us for at least the past 40 - 50 years. It was slightly muted before because they were also afraid of the Russians. Now there's nobody left to hate. France has been more open about hating us for at least that long though. Do some research into Charles DeGaulle and his policies towards the U.S. I grew up near Canada, and as far back as I can remember, they've always had a superior attitude too. All of that predated George W. Bush. Even though he certainly hasn't helped.

I don't think that Fox News was the driving force behind Bill Clinton's impeachment because a lot of the country didn't even get Fox News until after he was impeached. I certainly didn't. And it was nowhere near as influential as it is now. CNN was still top dog at that point among the cable news channels.

Before you come out saying you dislike Bush because he trod upon the Constitution, why don't you back it up with facts, instead of just saying that he did?

I like the expression on Cheney's face in the second picture. he seems so nonplussed.

So here it is. We still piss and moan amongst ourselves, while the corporate giants get stronger. This isn't a Republican/Democrat issue. This is an issue of the classes. Find me one Democrat that cries for the poor that actually lives among the poor. They live in gated communities and million dollar brownstones. Find me one Republican that talks about Immigration reform that did not take a large campaign donation from Big Business (BB loves cheap labor). I challange you this upcoming election. Find a canidate that you are interested in. Record his/her platform/promises. After 18 months or so see what they stick to. Odds are not much of what they promise gets done. Meanwhile they win thier game of divide and conquer. We are so busy mocking one another's "Parties" and getting caught up in the rhetoric, we forget what we were promised. That is, a better way of life than the rest of the world and a government that protects our common good. I do not have any easy answers or quick whitted remarks on this issue. I do think the things we can do is stay involved, think for ourselves and hold these fuckers accountable. If you lie to the Grand Jury about anything and you are a public official with the public trust, it doesn't matter if it's about a billion dollar bribe or a blow-job, it is still a lie. We trust in these people to be of a higher moral fabric than the average Joe. If you do not like the way things are today then vote. Hopefully this time we can get more votes in the General Elections than on American Idol. It is up to us people.

"We are Mad as Hell and we are not going to take it anymore"

Oh yeah all of you big city folk that think you have more value, are smarter, and are more important than the rest of the Nation, are just plain ignorant. When Mexico invades from the South and the Muslims capture Detroit, some of you snivilin city slickers will be wishing you could shoot a rifle or live off the land.

I'm just sayin....

Never signed a free agent over a million bucks until Kariya and Selanne in 2003. You my friend are thinking of the Red Wings. The Avs have constantly been one of the best drafting teams in the league. Hejduk, Drury, Liles, Svatos were all late picks just to name a few.

Here's what it looks like to actually win the cup!

But how much money were they spending on people (and still are spending on) Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg every year? I understand they weren't free agents, and I was actually thankful when they moved to Colorado because Sakic was such a pain in the butt.

I'm still a little surprised though that they didn't sign any expensive free agents. I did know about Hejduk and obviously Drury.

I agree with you that they didn't want religion influencing the federal government. But you're ignoring the historical context of the time. They came from an English experience rife with Protestants and Catholics killing each other in religion. They saw the danger of bringing together a government where, at the time, you had largely Congregationalist Massachusetts, Quaker Pennsylvania, and Episcopal Virginia having basically the functional equivalent of state religions that didn't really think too much of each other. They saw the danger of having the federal government being dominated by one of those. THAT'S IT.

But don't think for a second that they didn't see the government as being made up of Judeo-Christians (mostly Christians) and having a uniquely Judeo-Christian heritage. It's not their fault - that's who they were and that's who was here at the time. You work in a bookstore right? Go get the federalist papers and try reading 20 pages without seeing them talk about God or Providence or any other religious formula. You can't do it.

God being used as a formality in no way endorses or supports religious dogma dictating government policy. They wrote the Federalist papers as they did because that's how people wrote at the time. I honestly don't understand the point you're trying to make. They could have worshipped the Spaghetti Monster for all I cared...their religious beliefs, or lack thereof, has nothing to do with how our government should be run. Good question. Other people were complaining about the whole under god thing and In God we Trust and saying that it went against what the founders believed. I'm saying they wouldn't have cared because they were mostly concerned about the establishment of religion in government, and they used plenty of nominally religious language themselves without pushing their beliefs necessarily on anyone. I mean, even Jefferson tosses God around.

Jefferson wanted three of his numerous accomplishments on his gravestone: "Here was buried Thomas Jefferson Author of the Declaration of American Independence Of the Statute of Virginia for religious toleration & Father of the University of Virginia." The second one being to get a strong separation of church and state into the Virginia constitution. In part, that was because of how strongly he believed in freedom of religion as well as freedom from religion. But another reason was that it was a difficult fight at the time. Had he not written and fought for that statement it probably would not have been in there.

Yes, most of the founding fathers were deeply religious, and all of them were religious to some degree. Some, like Franklin and probably Jefferson, were deists - meaning they believed that God created the universe and then left it alone to be discovered by man. Both of them had little respect for organized religion or literal interpretations of the Bible. Mostly, they were aware of the tyrrany that religion in politics can lead to. They wrote of the problems of entering sacred articles of faith that cannot be backed by reason into politics which requires free debate and a goal that reason prevail.

But they probably were a tiny minority at the time (although their deist conceps of a personal faith free from dogma of organized religious leaders was probably closer to most religious Americans' current view of religion today than those of the time.) Clearly the population was much more deeply religious at the time. Atheists were probably not free to express their views at all. But that's been the nature of faith; that it gets cherry-picked for the bits that allow one to live in contemporary society without seeming insane, and that the more civilization advances the less material from those books are deemed appropriate. We're not burning people at the stake for a variety of petty offenses anymore, but when those actions were all the rage the people were just taking the Bible more literally. Were they better Christians, or worse?

Who cares? The point is, this country was not founded on Christian principles, nor is it a "Christian country." The founding principles of this country, the core beliefs that separated the US from everything that came before it, is the Bill of Rights - a list of secular principles.

How many of the 10 Commandments are codified into US law? 2 1/2. Thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal; and thou shalt not commit adultery is not a crime, but it's grounds for a divorce, so I give it 1/2. Bearing false witness - lying - is only illegal in specific cases like under oath and slander, but this whole post could be a lie and I don't have to think about the government coming to get me. Keeping the wholy day sabbath? The Bible tells us, (in Deuteronomy, I think), to kill those who do work on Sunday. In America, you can't even use the Bible's commandment as an excuse not to show up on Sunday. No Gods before God? Well, you'd think if this were a "Christian country" that one would have simply one out and there would be no talk about "freedom of religion". But it lost.

Ultimately, the secular view of government... yadda yadda yadda... gotta go have lunch with hot German chicks. To be continued... Clearly the population was much more deeply religious at the time.

Unless someone starts posting half-naked hot chicks, which will be a signal to shut me up.

All I'm saying is that enough of government in this country is infused with religious or pseudo-religious things that are pretty much meaningless insofar as they have no effect on policy or anything that I don't think people today need to freak out about. I'm not talking about the 10 Commandments that that nutty guy down in Alabama was touting around. I'm talking about things like Congress having a chaplain who gives a very official prayer. Or the fact that, when I lived in New England, I couldn't buy liquor in Supermarkets at

HBox is right. This thread is stupid. But your attitude is so pathologically insane I don't even know where to begin.

First of all, New York was not the first capital. Philly was. And then York, PA. And then Annapolis for a little while. They moved a lot because they had to.

Second of all, New York is my home state. I spent all of my first 18 years there and a great deal of time since as well. And the whole flyover state thing you guys are talking about makes you sound way more ignorant than any "farmer" that you guys are talking about. And I know you're not just talking about the entire state, you're just talking about downstate. But I'd rather not get into the whole upstate-downstate thing.

Don't get me wrong, NY is big, important, the biggest city in the country for several things, and in the world for several more. But I know CampoNJ you said you haven't gotten around the country? Have you been to Iowa, for example? I have. They're not all farmers. Far from it. It has the highest literacy rate in the country. All of the midwest is filled with tiny college towns here and there, which are in turn filled with people far smarter than you or I, for example.Do a lot of the people have different values than people in NY? Yes. But how boring would the country be if everywhere was like the NY-northern NJ - CT area? At least get out there and investigate some of the stereotypes you're espousing before you come off sounding like a completely arrogant douche.

Didnt work to well when bubba and billy bob are pulling into the parking lot already drinking beer in pick-up trucks. I knew it was bad when I frst moved there. I went to a strip club and the dancer said "so how do you like it down here in LA?" I said "LA? this is nothing like LA" she said "LA stands for Lower Alabama" and then she laughed. Well I got the joke, because it was a joke. Pensicola was beautiful to look at and I had a 2 bedroom 2 bath apt right on the beach on Pensicola island for $800 a month fully furnished and everything included. You cant beat that, but you can when the whole time you cant wait to leave.
