In a fight to the death, who would be the last man standing?  Sure, it's tempting to say Supes would kill him but, who knows...maybe force lightning would knock Supes for loop.  Can a lightsaber cut through Supermans body?  These, and other important questions, need answering.

I dunno if "force powers" would be considered magic in the DC universe or not.  If some regular dude like Boba Fett can kill a Jedi, then surely Superman can kill the Emperor.

Well, I went straight to the highest ranking Nerdbot I could think of -my older brother- and posed the question; "can a lightsaber cut off Supermans arm?"Here is his answer, in glorious detail:I would have/like to say yes. Lightsabers are pure energy. I don't think the yellow sun could negate a lightsabres blade, even on the man of steel.  I would maintain that Superman is powerless against the force as well. Once again, if one can manipulate  the "energy" field that surrounds all living things, (which includes superman) how can he possibly be immune? A jedi's powers are not controlled/limited buy the sun. I mean, if a Jedi's power works on Earth it doesn't mean it wouldn't work on Krypton due to a different sun. Supermans power is solely external -the sun.  A Jedi's power source is life itself -internal and external. It is a part of him and he is part of it. That has to count for something.

i brought up a post a few years back who would win in a fight between the imperial guards gladiator and superman. everyone here said gladiator why? because he fights to the death and superman does not. and if a lesser known character from marvel could beat him, darth sidious would just force lightning him to death. done and done. and its darth sidious dont call him chancellor palpatine. unless ofcourse if u refer to darth vader as as anakin even whil in suit.

Let the geekery commence!  I didn't call him Chancellor. I called him Emperor. Which is what Darth Vader calls him. And Luke. And Yoda. And Obiwan. But getting back to my Lightsaber question, here's a twist: If Superman fired his heatvision lasers at the Emperor, could he use his lightsaber to deflect the blast?  Hmmm.

The fact that Gladiator is a "lesser known" character than Sidious does not mean that he is less powerful and thus less likely to be able to destroy Superman. The Celestials are lesser known than Sidious, but they are sure the hell are a lot more powerful than Sidious.Also, again, Superman is faster than any jedi.   Even using force lighting, Sidious would not be able to track Superman to be able to hit him.

I realize that this thread is pretty much dead but, I have another question.Superman can exist in outerspace where there is no oxygen.  Does that mean that he could survive a evil-force choke hold?  I mean, Superman/Clark DOES breathe, right?   If you could only hear the in-depth arguments my brother and I are having over this topic! Jeezchrist.

Palpatine could easily beat superman.  One of the Force Powers that you are forgetting is the power to control minds, do you really think that the whole republic just handed over control to Palpatine.  NO he is a very smart individual and uses force powers to get people to do what he wants.  Superman is not immune to a lightsaber, as it will cut through steel. Besides force powers make you almost as fast as a speeding bullet.  You can anticipate what will happen and see the future.  Superman does not have these abilities and will lose, because he is not immune to the force.

I like where you're goin' but.... The Force only inluences the weak-minded.  Need I remind you that the Jedi Mind Trick was ineffective against Jabba The Hutt AND Watto?   Also, Superman is impervious to lasers.  He's been shot many times and he's cool with it.  Lightsabers have to be some form of lasery goodness, right?  I'm not so sure that a saber would hurt Superman.  Although...I definitely DO think it would deflect a blast of heatvision.  I know that doesn't make sense but, whatever.

Lightsabers have to be some form of lasery goodness, right?I think there's a force crystal or something inside a lightsaber that makes it work. So it may not be a laser but a concentrated stream of force energy.

For the mind control thing to work the Emp would at least need to be near Supes.Supes just fries him from orbit with heat vision or frezzes his ass with Super breathNow Superman VS. The Death Star would be cool

I am fascinated with the idea of a kryptonite lightsaber. If Superman even got close to one, his powers would be gone. A nice Golden Kryptonite Lightsaber should slice Superman up.Unless it's against Batman, Superman always wins...
