So today marked the official end of my radio career. I put in five years, and in the end, I realized that long hours and low pay but great perks are fun when you're single, but when you're due to get married in less than a year, and you promised your beautiful wife-to-be a house, the salary I was making just wasn't cutting it. There were both good points and bad points about the radio job, but it was burning me out, and the pay wasn't worth it.  I made some good friends and some great mentors, and also some enemies along the way.  It was an enriching experience.   I could tell a lot of stories.  And maybe I will some day.  But for now, I closed that chapter of my life, and began writing a new one.  So today was my first day at a new job, with a lot of things that the radio job didn't have.   Like my own desk and personal space.  A window.  A stable 9-5 work day.  No weekends.  And most importantly, a rather sizable raise, and my new boss commenting to me that with my skill-set, she believes that she got me at a bargain price. It's a new change, and I'm excited.  It's going to be a big-time learning experience, and I know I have a major curve to conquer. I'll always love radio.  And I loved the experience I had in radio.  But kind of like playing with GI Joe toys when you were younger, it's time to put them away... and just look wistfully at Snake-Eyes when you're shopping in Target.
