We have a lot of new members so this is just a reminder that sigs are to be no larger than 300 x
100 pixels and 40 kb. If they go beyond these parameters please fix them.And thanks for your support.EDIT: Oh yeah, No pornographic images either. A lot of people look at this site from work.

1 more thig/question. I cant change my avatar. It lets me browse for a pic but the upload button us dull and wont let me click on it. Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know how to fix it???

We limit the file size to 40kb for faster load times.  We limit the dimensions for easier readability and board aesthetics.

I'm not saying one website has it perfect.  Some people's sig pic areas on Wackbag are way too cluttered.  But over here you get one sig pic the fucking size of a thumbnail.  We can meet somewhere in the middle.But this has come up in the past and no one wanted to do anything about it, so this will just die.

Back in 2001 when the board started most people had dial up connection and 800x600 screen resolutions.  Nowadays most of that has changed and the sig pic restrictions do seem a tad "old school."  Now that we have self created avatars in addition to sigs, though, I guess I can live with it either way.

Oh it's not the end of the world, but if we're talking about continuity and shit, why are some of the sigs centered, some left justified and some right justified?  The right justified ones show me that we can have much wider sigs then we're allowed without throwing the screen off and making a scroll bar appear at the bottom.  So that excuse is done.

I had suggested 400x100, and was roundly yelled at for it. Gvac's right.  The rules were established when everything was predominantly dialup.   Also, the rules make no sense.  a few people's AVATARS are WAY over 40K, so the rule doesn't make sense for "faster loading times". I'm not saying those people should get in trouble, but I'm also saying that there should be some minor tweaks to the rules, as they've been in place as long as I've been here.

Yea, it was Tenbat's thread about the sig pics that I remember.  Everybody got all pissy about the sig pic size and it was dropped.Things really get done around here.

Personally, I like it when the sigpic is centered, left-justified makes it seem all cluttered with the avatar and whatnot over there.  Righ-justified is... well, that's just for freaks like Satcam.  300x100 seems like the perfect size to me, aesthetically speaking.  Taller or wider just seems to make the threads look like they're about the sigpics and not the actual content of the thread.

I must confess that I have absolutely no idea how to left, center, or right justify a photo.  I'm amazed that people can post pictures side by side.  I'm a simpleton I suppose.

Fuzzy forgot to mention one sig pic only.And a large percentage of the internet is still dial-up.  Admittedly most of our members are in or near large cities where dial-up is available, there are still large parts of the country that don't have it.

I don't see a problem eventually changing the guidelines making the sigs somewhat larger in size, but I'd still be all about limiting them to some degree.  I think it's headache-inducing when you go to sites and there are massive/multiple sig pics and graphics all over the place in the posts.  Internet speed or not, they generally make threads a pain in the ass to read if they're totally out of control.  Think Yerdaddy's old timey Xmas alcohol ads post times a billion.

I don't mind the 100x300 rule. As long as I can get help making some sigs. My Photoshop program was bulit some time in the Paleolithic era.Plus the sigs over at wackbag(never been over to FBA) have gotten to the point of being downright ridiculous.
