The ones that really annoy me are the few racist italian guys. The italian people I've met are mostly racist, but they try soooo hard to be "down" - it's just pathetic. I've never seen a black guy try so hard to be italian or white. At least not on the level of whites trying to be black.Are white people really THAT embarassed of their race? Do these clowns know how fucking stupid they look when they try to speak "jive" - As far as the italians go, who can blame em? I was in Philly a week ago and every kid looked like Eminem OR from the movie a bronx tale.  Greasy hair? Chains? Wife beaters? People really dress like that? I think this question has been being asked by adults since Elvis started playing "jungle music," and maybe even before.  Really, I don't think of it as a "white/black" thing.  I think of it more as a countercultural/anti-authority thing.  A huge thing for teenagers is to establish their identity.  Generally, that leads them to try to establish an identity that is separate from their parent's identity.  At the same time they want an identity that it is "cool" according to general pop culture standards.  With boys, they also want to act as "manly" as possible.That's why I think you see kids "acting black."   It's spurred on by the gangster rap scene.  It's generally counter-authority; it's "popular."  It's also considered "manly" given the "gangster" aspect involved with the portrayal of the culture, and men above bitches and ho's.

The answer is simple:Chicks that age dig it...or at least enough of them to make it worthwhile. There's no social statement, or desire to be something involved here...the only thing guys in their teens are thinking about it how to get laid, and apparently that gimmick works. There is one thing about it, though...it's usually with high school kids that this it's the biggest. Once you get to college, pretty much all of the thug kids back away their hoodies for good...that or they just didn't get into college. And for the record, I'm on the high end of the age group Perry mentioned (15-24). I never tried to get in on that gimmick, though. But I've seen enough of it first hand to know what the deal is.

Shit the guido/wigger thing just affected me , although I didnt witness it personally.    I'm in the process of selling my condo on staten island, nice waterfront location, views of raritan bay, terrace, the works, lily white largely  italian neighborhood MIIILES from the ghetto ...so of course I have to contend with a development chock full of white kids under 25 spending HOURS polishing their rims, leaving malt liquor bottles on the sidewalk, and most notably, standing in clusters blowing smoke and commenting on passersby.  Mind you, Im 30, so I am tops a decade older than them, but they all live with their parents and are I guess supported in this lifestyle. So ok, the other day, a family of three , parents and a 15 year old daughter ,  came to look at my place. The realtor said they seemed great, commented favorably on the view, the rooms, etc....then they walk outside and these fucking one of these fucking greaseballs says, TOTALLY audibly....."DAMNN THEMS SOME DOPE TITTIES, GIRL" to which the father had a big confrontation with them and my potential sale was fucked.    You cannot take a step around here without running into this shit,  and I say that as someone who is half italian, off the fucking BOAT italian, on my mom's side.  But we never got with the whole gold chain gindaloon thing...we just eat better than the resta yiz<img src="/messageboard/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" width="20" height="20" />

Back in the day when I was growing up and freestyle music was popular everyone (most people) in my area dressed like a guido including black kids. Now rap music is the popular trend so all (most) dress to that style.One thing that has always mad me laugh or actually pissed is what you said, so many italians say "N" this and that yet they all act and wish they were black. As an italian (100%) I have no problem with any of it. Its the times and everything goes around in cycles. Being a guido and dressing up was a style from the late 70's til the early 90's. The past 10-15 years it had been a thug look. Now its starting to get a mixture of the guido/hip hop joined together. Remember for awhile girls were wearing that same baggy ass clothes, now they wear almost no clothes.

I have a funny story that fits here that happened this morning.Walking my daughter to school this morning as usual and we get to this corner that with no fail has at least one black guy hanging there. Well today there were three guys. I don't pay much attention to them and as we get to the next corner after we cross the street, my daughter says that one of them was a white guy and that he was wearing a bandana as a hat.So I laugh at this and tell her that he is a wigger. LOL  And she goes, I thought he would be called a chicklet!  Gotta love it!!  She is nine.
