If you timed the actual speech against the clapping and standing-o's... I bet it would be close.

The Subway Superman was the biggest mistake of the night. He comes out and celebrates like it's free fancy suit night at a Knicks game for a minute and a half. The laughter afterwards was priceless.

Am I wrong, or is this Jim Webb guy giving the Democratic rebuttal and talking about how he slept with a picture of his father for three years the same guy who was writing homoerotic novels or some nonesense?

I think Dikimbe threw us all off. I sure as hell didn't see that one coming.

Jubjubs wrote:
Am I wrong, or is this Jim Webb guy giving the Democratic rebuttal and talking about how he slept with a picture of his father for three years the same guy who was writing homoerotic novels or some nonesense?
During George Allen's campaign he attempted to smear Jim Webb using some of the topics he covered in his books about war, saying a man that writes about sex is not fit to be a US Senator. Based on who is currently the new Senator from Virginia, you can see how much validity those claims held.

Jubjubs wrote:
I think Dikimbe threw us all off. I sure as hell didn't see that one coming.
I think that one actually made sense because right before that, he referenced AIDS in Africa and the Darfur Genocide, and Dikemebe is probably the best-known Congolese ex-pat at least in the US and he is active in philanthropy in DR Congo. The problem isn't with having hospitals, however. It would be a greater benefit to the Congo is Dikembe contributed that money to a med school that offered incentives to keep Congolese doctors from leaving for the US and Europe.
