After 54 pages of recalling the past 7 years of my life, then another round of recalling the past 10 years of my life.....then all aspects of those years being investigated, i have been awarded with a shiney new fancy clearance...and a job with the gubberment. 20k raise ain't bad either. Instead of investing in a house in the hole considered NoVA, i just threw money into my ROTH and CD acct's (moving in 6 months most likely). Oh god i've grown up.

Wow, congrats. I've worked on contracts where I've had to fill out that paper work, but I never actually recieved a clearence. That stuff is a pain in the ass, especially for someone that moved several times during college, and held many jobs during that time too. Why the hell won't they let you list the same references over and over again? I also got to be interviewed for a friend of mine when he was getting his clearance. The guy had a huge list of questions, when he got to the one about if I had ever seen my friend consume alcohol, he pulled out another giant list of questions. I had to lie a few times on that set.

Is it one of those deals where your record has to be spotless? Do they ask if you have ever used drugs or disagreed with anything about the government? I'd like to know because I'm interested in getting a government job after I become a CPA.
