I am being driven crazy by a chick I’ve been dating about a month. We’re both in our 40’s divorced and no kids. The relationship has been awkward because our schedules conflict and we don’t get to see each other much, but talk everyday on the phone. When we get together it usually ends “very intimately” I knew she had been in a relationship that ended badly last June. She had had a short term relationship between June and when we met in January. I figured that the second guy would have washed the bad taste of the first guy out of her mouth. But as we’ve been dating I was getting a real sense that she was hesitating to commit. One moment telling me how wonderful I was and suggesting she come with me on a business trip next month, but then pulling back. Thursday night I made her talk about her feelings and she said she wasn’t ready for a relationship… she was not prepared to be a couple. It wasn’t unexpected and I prefer to know the truth. We then proceeded to sleep together. It was awesome.  Friday morning she texts me at 7am “Good Morning…great time”. Then a little later I get a text saying “Considering out talk last night do you still want to get together tonight?” I replied that I am not interested in a just friends thing, but if she wanted to consider us dating without the label I’d do that. Her response was she could not commit beyond the just friends thing and could she call me when her life straightened out? I just ignored it. No point in being with a chick that doesn’t want to be with me…right?   Later in the afternoon I got another text saying “I understand”… (I’m guessing my lack of a reply). Then an hour later a text that just said “I’m”, then later another “You’re missing the best seafood gumbo” (Turns out she was in a restaurant next to my building.)…Then another text asking me to join her. I finally responded “you’re trying to drive me crazy” the response was “humm” then she called and convinced me to join her. We had dinner and went back to her place. Lots of kissing and hugging in between. When we got to her placed I pressed the “where are we” issue. She said she was too tired to think about it and just wanted to hold me. I left about an hour later.   My questions…are… is it possible she’s really confused? Is she just jerking me around? Am I being played? Am I becoming the neighborhood F---- Buddy? Am I setting myself up for disappointment?   Would love some advice and appreciate the fact that you made it all the way to the end of this drivel

dating for a month, having great sex, and you wanna ruin it by pressing her to commit???dude, if you think she'll eventually come 'round, let her have the time to do so. a month really isnt long enough when youre our age. Enjoy the great times, and if it turns out to not be forever, cherish the time you had. Dont ruin every great night by saying, well she didnt commit today therefore my life sucks.She obviously enjoys hanging out with you, among other things. Enjoy it, and see where it goes.

You sound like you are pressing too hard. Are you mormon? Cause they are the only ones I know that would think about any kind of commitment after only one month.This is a serious question....Do you need a female in your life to lean on? It just sound like you do because you are worrying about a commitment.Take it easy, enjoy the companionship.

I haven't heard from her since I left Friday night. Probably blew it....oh well

How about just spending time together and having fun and see where it leads? The fact that every date ends "very intimately" can mean she doesn't want to get serious, she just wants to get laid once in awhile. Plus once you pull back and she senses it, she'll may end up chasing you. If not, she's really not into you all that much, so its no real loss.

How about not using a cocksucky method of communication like "texting" for romance?  That's a sure-fire way for one of you to misunderstand the "tone" of a communique, and get your bung all knotted up.

I've been divorced about two years and have been out on a ton of dates and a few minor relationships. This is the first chick that I actually liked...probably too much...and I wore it on my sleeve. Since I work for myself I'm free to dwell on things I should leave alone. Not proud of myself, but I have recovered. Ignored her for a day or so and she popped up at my house after the superbowl...and...we had a quickie after work last night.Thanks guys for helping me straighten out my head. I knew I was fucked up just needed to hear it.
