Every year there is an agenda at the Oscar's....If it wasn't Halle and Denzel, Chicago, Crash...etc......and this year it was Marty.

I feel bad that Marty got put in this point. There is no reason we should be talking about this being his first Oscar, let alone only one.

I actually heard an ass on tv use him and Susan Lucci in the same story.

I agree with you Mudder on the agenda deal but I am glad he did win one, If for no other reason this could be for his body of work.

I saw a show saying: Is Scorsese the next Marino.

I don't see how it could be better than the original, which I saw yesterday and loved.

I suppose I'll have to get to The Departed eventually, but I am in no rush.

But Departed can hold it's own....although it don't compare to the original.Isn't there Infernal Affairs 2 and 3? Which are more like prequels???

So the Departed was a remake of an Asian flick ?

I was thinking it was very similiar to a non-fiction book ( Black Mass ) about a real gangster in Boston that was being protected by an FBI agent.

i was disappointed by his acceptance speech. he's waited all these years and he was probably shitting himself on the inside, but he didn't come across as that excited

i thought forrest whitaker's speech was what marty's should have been

I just finished watching "The Departed" and I must say I thought it wasnt good. I'm glad Scorcese won an Oscar, but he deserved it for previous work not this.

I don't like it when rehashed movies win awards, but hey...it happens.

The Hong Kong version is definitely better, but both movies are good in their own right. I'll agree with the fact that of all the movies he could've won for, he won both Director and Best Picture for this? Gangs Of New York was better than this movie. Maybe that's just me getting annoyed that Daneil Day Lewis got jobbed.
