View Full Version : I REALLY enjoy the"Real Men of Genius" radio spots

If one of them comes on, I'll stop whatever I'm doing and even shoosh other people so I can listen. Today I was driving around and the "Mr. Giant Taco Salad Inventor" one came on and I was just laughing like a little schoolgirl. The only other time I find myself laughing like that is when I'm listening to the buddays.

I don't know - it seems like people have been complaining a lot about radio ads here lately. I just think that these are funny. I can't really remember one that I thought disappointed. Am I off base here? Am I just easily impressed or does anyone else find these original and funny?

You can hear some of them HERE.

Before 9-11 they were "Real American Heroes"

Upon seeing what EMT's, Firefighters and Cops do everyday, They decided that "Mr. Footlong Hotdog inventor" is a genius...not necessarily a hero...

I don't know why, but that makes these ads even better to me....

The only one that I REALLY REALLY liked was Mr. Gasoline BBQ Grill Starter. It would crack me up when the power ballad type singer sang the line "Very low I.Q.".

Dammit! I've had the hook stuck in my head for almost an hour, now. Thanks Smails.

I love these as well. They make me laugh out loud, even when I am alone. ......."I dont see no lettuce!!"

I noticed they changed it after 9/11 as well. I think it makes them better too. Looking at your link I had NO idea there were so many!!!

I think its a clever way to do observational humour in small doses and make them a commercial for something. You couldnt just go "hey whats the deal with taco salads? They call it a salad, but its just ground beef and no lettuce! By the way, buy some bud light!"

Well, i mean, you could do that, but its not a very good commercial, but if you frame it in the way the genius commercials do, then its entertaining, concise and an effective ad for your product. Well done bud light! I still dont drink tho, suckers...
