I Had Nothing To Say

Over the course of my life I've had my fair share of run-ins with celebrities. I'm not saying that to brag. Though one the of things I really like to do when I'm around them, or if I meet them for the first time is to act natural and not be like a fan to them or make them feel uncomfortable. With that said on Friday night at Bar 9 for Fezzie's party Opie & Anthony made an appearance. I had met Opie in the past, and I've met Norton, the only one I've never met of all of everyone was Anthony. Amy was talking to Melinda and she asked Amy to say hi to Anthony. I don't know what it was, though I just froze. I've wanted to meet Anthony for the longest time, I've been a huge fan of his for since I first heard him on the radio. For one thing I admire that he was following his dream, just like Dave is and Shelle is, though I had no idea what to say to him. I was worried that I'd be introduced and I'd be stuck there saying nothing. The whole time the only thing I was thinking of saying was "Hey, I'm a BIG fan", which is the last thing I want to say. I can't explain it, but I hate to be the fan. Normally I can find something to say and have a small conversation. I had NOTHING. When Amy walked away from him I could see Anthony look over at me, I just walked away. It was one of the most uncomfortable feelings I've ever had.

Oddly enough a friend had told me that night how nervous she was to talk to Ronnie, and I told her to act natural that he was so down to earth, which he is. She had a great talk with him. I don't understand why I locked up and couldn't do the same myself. I know there'll be other events, though that was just odd for me.

I like yourself have meet a lot of "famous" people through the years. Same as you I have always been able to strike up a good conversation. I met Anthony after the big ass bash. And I to, for the first time choked, I also said the Big fan thing.... and then that was it... nothing... my girlfriend actually had to jump in save me... so I guess it makes for a good story for her... ha ha...

I met a member of this band that I loved (I'm embarrased to admit it so I won't tell you which band) and I was almost stumbling drunk, I said hi he said hi and he went to talk to someone else, I tapped him on the should er and said "wait a minute" and proceeded to tell him about the first song of his I had ever heard an how I was such a big fan, he was polite but I could tell he thought I was a complete douche.

Sheepy introduced me to Fez at the Blue Room and we talked some about comics (I think about Y The Last Man or Ex Machina), and I told Fez about how, when playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, I had set the computer to play only R&F bits when I was in cars.

I feel that way around Opie to this day. On Friday Melinda had me say hello to him and I really didnt want to or have anything to say to him so I shook his hand and said "Hi and Bye, I am leaving now." and he didn't hear me so I had to like repeat the awfulness. I'm sure I sounded really snotty thinking back on it but I really had nothing to say to him and I kinda froze up.

I have met Ronnie several times, and I can honesatly say I turn into a retarted monkey when I see him, I freeze up and dont know what to say. It upsets me because normally when Im not totally trashed and I am myself, Im very, very good at the conversation thing. I remember way back when in the NEW days I met Opie at the Big Ass Night of fights 1, and had no problem, he even teased me about my septum ring and kept asking me if it hurt.

When Michael Spinks was still fighting I was in AC walking to a casino with my Mom and I saw Mike and his brother Leon outside a Limo. I walked over and quickly remembered Mike just won a fight a night or two earlier so I shook his hand and congratulated him. I then turned to Leon and he had that "get out of my face look" so I gave a quick "what's up Leon" and didn't even attempt to shake his hand and kept walking.
