I've started to notice of late that I'm having a tremendous amount of difficulty remembering simple things. For example, I woke up this morning in a blind panic thinking I hadn't paid all of my bills, and had to actually go online and check all of my creditors websites to make sure that I had payments scheduled with them. Sarah can attest to the fact that she'll ask me to get something from downstairs on my way out to smoke a cigarette and when I get back i've completely forgotten about the item I was supposed to get... Is there anything I can do to help my short term memory? For those of you who don't know me, i'm 25 and I don't smoke pot.

Yep, you're losing it.

I forget things all the time. I'll say to myself - don't forget to bring this with you - and then minutes later I'm walking back to the apartment because I forgot to bring it with me. It's at those times I loathe myself the most. Walking into a room and standing there thinking "What did I come in here for?" - happens more times than I'm comfortable with too. I think it has a lot to do with mind wandering. My mind wanders all the can't believe the Phillies lost last night I think I'll have an early lunch.

Take some vitamins if you arent already. Also, i suggest you start writing things down until your confident that you are sane again.

I forget things all the time now. When I went to the store yesterday there was one item I absolutely had to get. Of course I didn't realize I had forgotten until about 1am when I was sitting on the toilet wondering what I was gonna wipe my ass with.

I think this happens to more people then we know of. Seems like a cycle, you get in a rut, a groove and this happens.
I find I need to focus on the small stuff at times and then less of the memory lapses happen.

I'm always sending myself emails to my blackberry so I dont forget things. If I dont do that or put stuff in my calendar, woooosh gone. I feel like the dude from Memento sometimes. If I have to remember to bring something to work (let's say a document) I put it under my car keys. I have to do stupid crap like that all the time now.

I have noticed I have been having a problem remembering names as of it. Not of people I just met, people who I've known for a while.

"you know... the guy whos friends with your sister? that one... hes in that band.... has the hair? you know who I mean....."

Don't feel bad. Three times in the past week or so, I've put the conditioner in my hair, finished my shower, then forgot to rinse the conditioner out. I HATE that!

What you've got to do is crush them up, and mix it with his food.:smoke:

How about this one. You walk in a room to get something, and then you completely forget what the fuck it was by the time you get there. So then you're standing there going "FUCK! I HATE WHEN I DO THIS!"
I do that one about twice a day, and I've been doing it since I was a kid.

I've used that gag a million times, and for some reason this time it made me sad.

Man, you're losing it too Kev!

I love when I search the house frantically for my sunglasses only to discover that they're on top of my head.

i sometimes compare my brain to a hard drive. being i forget so many things that i think i have run out of space so anything new I learn just overwrites some previous bit of knowledge i had or 'once had'...

i still have the index item because i at least say to myself "i used to know about it" but the actual data is gone

That's the weird part about it, I used to be like this, and now all i can remember is worthless factoids about movies. The doctor wants to run some tests so I should be updated in a week or so.
