I was going to sign up and check it out, I used to listen to Howard back when I was in highschool. I'd checked out his show on ppv @ a friends house, and theres some crazy stuff on there.

my question is this.. did anyone else go to sign up. They ask for a lot of info, name as it appears on your licence address, where you used to live... but the kicker and what really made me stop was it asked for the last 4 digits of your social security number?!@

WTF?!

fuck that shit.

and with that the obligitory bronx johnny myspace closing comments..

FUCK HOWARD

I saw an ad for it in Entertainment Weekly, and the hook was something like 'The land of the free just got free-er.' What kind of mixed signals is this tool trying to send. Hoo-hoo, I need people to reach me for free again Robin, no one's buying.

I'm gonna try to keep my Howard Hate out of this because I'm so done with the guy.

People used to watch his E! and CBS show, but slowly, no one cared. And that was free. Now he wants you to pay for the same shit? That's OK, let us know when you get funny again. Until then it's basically softcore porn. I prefer regular porn.

Is there anybody here that likes R&F and/or O&A and DOESNT hate Howard other than me? Seriously, i used to listen to Stern a couple years back, and i occasionally download his sirius show now and listen. its enjoyable to listen to. Sometimes its hit or miss, or howard has a funny bit or rants like a psycho maniac. O&A are hit and miss too. I Just dont get it...

Sure there is. But there's a very large segment of fans who got pushed from Hoo Hoo after he started sucking and discovered other talk radio avenues. A lot of those people are here and other Ron and Fez/O&A boards.

The problem is that Howie is such a fucking fearful old woman that he lies about other shows copying him. When you discover other shows and find out how much shit he's full of, you get very mad at him and his lies. It's my opinion that's why you find a lot of very vocal anti-Stern posters.

And we hate Stern because of his shit show content, not because O&A told us to. Don't even try that horse shit.

I don't even listen to O and A, so that eliminates me from outside influence. I just got bored with Stern. I saw a commercial for that Howard TV last night, and I was struck by how much I didn't care. The spot was boring, and I had no idea what it even wanted me to do. The chicks were ugly. The whole thing was...well, it was evidence that he's washed up.

And, that's what it really is. I mean, I was a really big fan, but it just got progressively dull. Right around the time he got divorced. I just couldn't listen to him simulaneously rant about having to give his ex wife half, and talk about buying a house in the Hamptons.

That's what it is. That's the jump the shark moment. When you buy a house in the Hamptons you're over, just another old show biz type who done good and is going to put his feet up. And, listen, God Bless, you know? There's nothing wrong with with doing really well and then enjoying it.

It's just not funny. The Hamptons aren't funny. Making a chicken on your grill isn't funny. Howard has turned into Milton Berle - without the schwanz.

WTF?!

fuck that shit.

The only thing they need to know is your credit card # and billing address if it's different than you home address (i.e, if you have a P.O. Box). They will probably say your SSN is your pin #, but everywhere else you can create your own pin#.

Anything else is to sell to mailing list companies.

I liked that show too. That was "Good Howard."

What we are left with is "Hoo Hoo Howie."

I watched the E show for a while. I have to agree. Why watch that when you can get real porn?
I don't have hate for Howard. Just don't care about the feud thing....I don't care...I don't care.

i still listen, and there's elements that are still funny and engaging -- the production work that sal & richard do are brilliant ... and an unedited arty gives the show a nice edge

the endless sound-drops really date the show and gives it a bit of a zoo vibe, robin's unlistenable and so damn smarmy (and outlived her purpose)

stern's got that opie vibe of knowing the strengths of the staff and what really works

the level of guests has really dropped off, so there's a bigger focus on the staff antics

but i zone out on any of the same tired/hack interview or innovator rant

r/f, o/a and stern have their own merits and really helps the tedius work day pass entertainingly

having said all that, there's no way i'm paying $15 bucks more a month for a visual version of the worst aspects of the radio show that i'm already paying for

if/when the merger goes through, would anyone pickup the stern channel ...?

I listened to Howie right up until he went to Sirius. Even then, I downloaded a bunch of shows.
It was the same old stuff. There was really nothing new or inventive and certainly no reason to pay for it.
With all that said, I'm sure I would find myself tuing in once and awhile, and maybe even recording a show every now and then. It gives me another option. Why not use it????

Oh. And I even tried listening to Bubba
His show makes Don & Mike look like comedic geniuses.

my sister has sirius, and i catch some of his stuff if i'm ever in her car. the roasts are funny, but i was never a big fan of his. boobies aren't good on the radio. as for his tv show, i don't subscribe to it and shan't being watching it for free.

like hbo/time warner & showtime/cbs ...? most of the premium services on cable will offer free preview weekends

between his two channels, stern's live show is the only thing worth listening to -- the news various staff spinoffs, farrell, bubba are just crap ... and any radio re-run is unlistenable
