Anyone watch this? It was a complete rehash of the E! show with a few animated clips here and there. To tell you the truth, I forgot it was on. No wonder it was cancelled... I think everyone forgot it was on.
I'm just waiting for "Son of a Beach" to get cancelled. To quote Jim Norton, "AWFUL!"

stern rocks! i have been listening lately and his radio show is picking up.
ARTY LANGE is the bomb! this cat is super funny. and it seems like stern figured out:
porn sluts= boooooring.
like it or not, the guy did take talk radio to new heights. he may not be your cup of tea. thats cool. he does get a bit stale after a while, but funny is funny and the show, from 6-8 is funny.
and i hear freds first drummer is a stud =)

I prefered the E! show also and as Perry said Arti has given the show new life, I tape the first hour while I sleep, that's usualy all I catch unless I'm up.

Although the CBS show was good, it was just a rehash of the e-show, which is really good.
Son of the Beach is a phenomenal show.

wasn't this supposed to be the show that destroyed Saturday Night Live?

I'm a Stern fan from way back but he's done. How many times do I wanna see Beetlejuice and the other freaks? His radio show is stale, Howard's worst nightmare is now a reality: he has morphed into Imus. Good riddance!

Arty Lange is awesome! He is far funnier than Jackie the Jokeman (he went to my high school. Him and Thomas Pynchon). The one thing I miss is when everyone would make fun of Jackie.
Maybe I don't like Son of a Beach is b/c it's "boy" humor. It's not very clever-- anyone could write the show.

Oh they still make fun of him and it's funnier because he's not there.

Everyone, imitate Nelson! "Ha-ha!"
Seriously, Heckler is right. I've listened to Stern for a few years now, and his product has gone WAY downhill. I don't want this to turn into yet another "Stern is old and tired" thread (God knows there are enough of them on the O&A message board), but I agree that he's pretty much Imus at this point. I used to listen to the whole show, but now all I really check out is the news portion of the program. I couldn't care less about the rest of his show, but I do still dig him ripping into celebrities.
I think Artie is probably the best replacement for Jackie that he could have made. Alas, I'm a Jackie fan, so if I had to choose between Jackie and Artie, I'd choose the Jokeman.

I used to be a Stern fan but all he has become recently is a late night talk show host in the morning. He doesn't do the bits like he used to anymore. All he has now are celebrities on and asks them the same questions. Once in a while a freak or two but that is it.

I listened to Stern for years. He was better when guests didn't want to be associated with his show. Now he can get any guest and it's not the same. His funniest shows were the Sam Kineson days, especially when they had a fued going. His channel 9 show was his best TV work. I forgot he was still on channel 2. But, he still is funny at times.

I'm not really a Stern fan, but I have found myself listening to the show occasinally since Artie came aboard.

I'm still a fan and I think Artie Lange rocks, but I do miss the old days. Especially when he used have comedians come in and just hang. Kinison, Gilbert, Belzer, Richard Lewis, Dice, those where the days.

Oops, one more thing. The best guest Howard's had over the past 5 years is, by far, Robert Schimmel and I haven't heard him on in ages.

Stern's saturday show was no match for SNL or Mad tv. The show ws too choppy and plus who the hell would be home watching him when you could be drinking with friends. The E! show is way better.

With exception to Dice all of them have been on in the past year or so. Kinison wasn't really on, but they have a great impersonator.

from gist:
Howard Stern: Raising Kane
Say what you want about Howard Stern, but the grass doesn't grow under his feet. One day his syndicated Howard Stern Radio Show was canceled, the self-proclaimed "King of All Media" announced his production company is developing a sitcom that could fill Radio's Saturday-night time slot, Variety reports.
The show, called Kane, focuses on an eccentric Southern family led by a stern father whose life is changed when his long-lost wife returns. Stern will executive-produce the series, which would be distributed by Radio Show syndicator King World, according to Variety.
Radio Show was canceled Wednesday. The decision reportedly was Stern's, but insiders told Variety that King World chairman Roger King's fondness for family-style, high-quality programming may also have been a factor. The final program will air this weekend
