Seriously! Radio has enough drama by itself without online forums contributing to all this negative hype.

And now they said "bear with us, we gotta go!" "It's not over!"

Fuck!

They're leaving at 10:35!

Please God, no!!!!!!

They got some email, went to break, came back, and said that stuff. They went straight to line of the day.

What's happening?

Why are they completely ignoring the XM firing?

Did they cave to pressure about not being able to talk about it? One of the biggest things to happen to them in a while and they are talking about Scientielogy.

My thoughts exactly. If they were fired, they would have no reason to avoid the topic entirely.

And I'm still at a loss as to why XM isn't even playing best-ofs. Who does that punish? Combine that with the fact that they are still on terrestrial radio, and who is really getting hurt by all of this besides XM? When you take a radio show off the air for two hours, but it's still on for another three...how much have you accomplished?

I think XM is trying to make a point at how they censor themselves. They need to look good to the government with the merger talks underway (a merger whose only goal is to fire people so they can save money).

LordJezo
05-16-2007, 04:08 AM
But how can anyone take this seriously today? They get suspended and now everyone is tuning in to find out what they have to say about it. They talk about sandwiches as the whole nation wants to hear what they think. It's like they don't care about it at all and are fine with being on FM only. It's going against everything they have been saying over the past few months about censorship, not backing down, and fighting to the end.

Huh? Only in Stern's diluted mind does that make sense. How is it kind to yank them off the air, and say it's only a suspension? Why not just fire them? What is "kind" about XM's stance?

Quarterly taxes are due on June 15 so maybe a lot of people are concerned with revenue reports and merger moves. 30 days gives them enough time to include their income. Just a thought.

O&A FIRED!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have just received word that O&A have been FIRED from XM!!!

I was told this by an extremely trusted source, and not an employee/relative of an XM employee.

Get on the phone, cancel your XM. DO NOT take the 30-day credit - CANCEL it! XM will feel that much more on their bottom line than a 30-day dip.

If XM feels the sting of thousands of people canceling their subs, then there is some sort of a chance![/

I hate to say it but if O/A are canceled then I really have no reason to keep my XM around and I'll go to Sirius.

I really do like Ron and Fez more than I like Opie and Anthony but 3 hours a day of Ron and Fez is not enough to keep my account open, especially since their FM show is FM only and I can get that online.

Even though I can't stand the Sirius folks at least I will have live programming to listen to during the day. Yeah yeah, they take off millions of days, but they will still have more stuff live than a 3 hour radio show on one station.

The lover of free speech. .

I can kind of see Howards point. He was pretty brutal this morning.
Nobody really had his back when he was having FCC trouble and being "crucified"
by certain groups.
Nobody gave 2 shits back in 1995 when Stern was saying ALL OF TALK RADIO iIS IN TROUBLE...

It would have been cool for Howard to step up and everyone be on 1 team. Fight the 1 common enemy - censorship.
But instead of going after the true enemy.... a lot of shows around the country chose to fight each other or distance themselves from Stern.

I would've love to see a bridge built and everyone get along. Imagine the force in numbers?

That would have been cool, but Stern has shown time and time again that he cares only about himself. He doesn't give a damn about freedom of speech, censorship, or talk radio if it doesn't affect him in some way.

This situation should concern him since he crowed about the "freedom" of satellite radio, and he's watching the other huge talk show on satellite get taken down for comments they made.

And if he thinks he's above it all, he's wrong. If he was the force he claimed to be, Sirius wouldn't have to discuss a merger to keep the company going. They could have sat back and watch XM flounder, but he never brought in the numbers he thought he would. And let's face it, satellite radio as an industry has nothing on the horizon that is going to change its very low growth rate.

That's what kills me, like him or not he has a shit load of fans, and most of them are pretty loyal. You go on thier fansite and they trash o and a and still about saying they have a 0.0 and are nobodies. Its like can't you see past a stupid raido war, and it seems like all he would have to say is that they shouldn't be bothered on satellite and his fans would run with that. It would be amazing if people could think and be on the same page for once.

Because Stern wasn't making it sound like all of talk radio is in trouble, it was "I'm in trouble, so all talk radio is in trouble." I was a big fan at the time, and Stern never made it about free speech, he made it about him being persecuted.

If anything the cancelling is showing XM how much pull they have with their fans. It's obviously better for them to keep quiet and let things play out. Just think if it all goes to hell Opie can come back in two years and tell us about he death defying trips to the Grand Canyon or wherever he plans on visiting.
