View Full Version : Jail Time For Man Who Threatened (Don) Geronimo
A lot of us know Carl Grossman also as someone who called into R&F and The Hideout here in D.C. (he even made it into Tender's FNL song even though he was only there once) - he even was behind a lot of people outside of the DC area able to stay on top of R&F at WJFK...well...an odd chapter got turned again today:
Jail Time For Man Who Threatened Geronimo - 5/23 - A Leesburg man pleaded guilty in Fairfax County Court on Monday to a misdemeanor charge of stalking in connection with a January incident in which WJFK-FM afternoon host Don Geronimo (aka Michael Sorce) received a letter that allegedly contained threats to himself and his family. According to court documents, Carl R. Grossman originally faced a felony charge. He was given a one-year jail sentence with 10 months suspended, followed by a year of probation and a period of supervised mental health care. The judge also issued a lifetime restraining order on Grossman, who had once been a frequent caller on "The Don And Mike Show".....

Out of respect to Don (back in 2005), R&F asked him not to come around anymore - something he ignored during one of their last weeks in DC and appeared, ready to perform; one of the odder 106.7 memories I have.

I can't recall this guy. What was he ready to perform?
This just begs the question - why would ANYONE actually WANT to be famous?

I think he played guitar. I remember him bringing his guitar to one of the events and wanting to jam with the live band during the show. The offer was declined.

Didn't he go by a nickname on the air too?

He went by another name - he had a banjo or guitar of some sort and literally burst into the studio to play right as the show was signing off - i think it might have been one of the nights where a lot of the regulars were there playing and hanging out.

Taking stuff from a radio show into real life is fucking dumb.
You all know how much I hate the Don and Mike show and even I wouldn't think of threatening this or ANY radio show. Don't be a fucking creepy weirdo. He's allowed to have a private life, leave the REAL Mike Source and his family alone.
Bitch about the public show if you want, but don't mess with him outside that venue.

Yes -- Cheezeface. I was blanking on that for a bit.

From the File Library: CheezeFace calls about his WJFK banning. (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=2857)

What makes it even crazier is that this guy was a show regular for probably 10+ years. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm guessing it was a pretty specific and direct threat if he was charged with a felony. This is beyond some guy just being a creepy weirdo.
Here's his (insane) website if you're interested in bleeding from your eyes:

Though he got kinda crazy there, Cheeze is a good guy. I miss him in the old Hideout chats. BTW... The last words I ever said in a call to the Hideout... "and Cheeseface says Hi"
BTW... I'm not mistake, Cheesface was one of the people who helped make the Big Ass Antenna work.
