How about one last one where we can bitch, moan, say hi to friends, and post cat pics (except for you, Midkiff). It doesn't matter if you're listening to the replay of the XM show, KROCK spinng the same 20 songs you've heards a million times, your iPod, or your cat humping a pillow.

Budday's... I haven't been able to post in over a month... but have been listening every day. THIS SUCKS!!!! I just went to listen to the free show and got RUSH instead of R-n-F. Man this really blows... I'm not saying... but the Ron and Fez show is the BEST show on radio. I'm loving the 24/7 XM 202 shows... Well at least we still have that...

this is once again an example of how corporations ruin radio.

Ron and Fez have shown the ability to cater their show to the time slots and conditions.
one excuse for nuking the talk format was that it was difficult in the Post-Imus world to keep a watch on the hosts and/or for the hosts to be funny without working off color.

Is there any doubt that RnF were able to accomplish this during their FreeFM stint?
I understand keeping O&A for financial reasons. I understanding booting the other shows - but RnF had a good book, and they drew in a different set of callers for their fm show.

I can't see how they couldn't have fit in somewhere in the lineup.

Granted there was a built in local XM audience and some fans from the WNEW days who reconnected, but even then, for a show to be able to pull off an event the magnitude of the Big Ass Bash after only 2 months on the air is remarkable.

I guess the upside of this situation is that we got six months of Ron and Fez back on regular radio in New York. And if you had offered that to us in February 2003, we probably would have taken it in an instant.

I'm sad that we lost the Free-FM show, but there's nothing that says that R&F may not come back down the road. If O&A get some clout and this all settles down, things could happen. You never know. That's the funny thing about this business.

I don't really blame anyone in this situation except for the CBS suits who buckled to Sharpton with Imus. As soon as that happened, there was blood in the water.

The upside is this: O&A still have a job. R&F still have a job. Most of us can listen to them. And on June 16th, we go back to where we were in Mid-December 2006, which really wasn't a bad place to be.

The bright side is that at least the decreased work load should be good for Fezzie and everyone else on the show. It has to be easier for Fez to ease back into a 3 hour shift, and the staff couldn't handle two shows anyway. I said this before. The problem is that there are no stations that cater to edgy talk radio. The only ones are WABC and WOR which are political talk. I don't see a fit anywhere except drive time on K-Rock.

The amazing thing is that no matter how many times this happens (and by "this" I mean unexpected format changes and Ron and Fez being left out in the cold) I'm always left feeling stunned and saddened.

This has come up before. The problem is where will they go, and in what time slots? Edgy talk radio is becoming taboo. ever since Sharpton decided to attack Don Imus rather than deal with real problems in the black community, the dominos of talk radio have fallen in a big way. The format is as good as dead on commercial radio.
