View Full Version : Watch or No Watch?

Do you always wear a watch or never wear a watch?

I've never worn a watch. Tried to when I was younger, but just never liked it/needed it. The time is always displayed somewhere close by so I don't feel the need to have it strapped to my wrist.
My mom, however, equates wearing a watch with being an adult, and has tried to make me wear one over the years by giving me watches as gifts that I promptly return to the store. Now I wonder if I don't wear one just to spite her!

great topic. from 1995-2001 i always wore a watch. i was obsessed with time, time management, how long things took to do and being on time. After 9/11 and running for my life across the brooklyn bridge, the OCD went out the window. i never wear a watch and seldom pay attention to the time unless i am meeting someone, being late is rude. i have a few really nice watches that are just sitting in a shoe box.

Not since having a cell phone. I'm not a fan of that tan line I get on my wrist.

Last thing I need is some ticking piece of jewelry on my wrist. Plus then it would make this sundial backpack COMPLETELY useless.

I always worn a watch from about age nine to a year or so ago. The battery died and I've never gotten it replaced, probably won't either. I just use my cell or my inno on flights.

The only watch I wear is the dress watch my wife gave me on our wedding day. I only wear it for special occasions which means I've probably worn it a dozen times in 18 years. Next time I'll wear it is on June 23rd when my son graduates High School. Otherwise the cell phone does the trick.

I used to feel naked if I left the house without my watch on. With the advent of electronic devices such as PDAs and cell phones, I started wearing one less and less. Now I can't remember the last time I wore one.

On the job but especially back in the classroom days; science teacher dude should have a Casio G-Shock thang; cheap, water resist, with the 1/100 second stop watch for timing things like experiments and how long you can hold that students head under the water...

Not lately in my lebowski style blissful retirement; minus the white russians.

I always wear a watch. I always wear a nice watch. I've got a little collection of Omega's.
Icluding my vintage, pre-Apollo Speedmaster.
If you want to make an impression you need a classy watch, nice pen, well groomed hair & nails, and a new tie.

I always wear one when I'm not at home. I paid 10 buck for it (and another 10 for the band) about 5 years ago. It gets submersed in dish water about 100 times a week, and it's more accurate than any watch I've ever had. Love my watch!

The retail on the Sub is almost 2x the Speedmaster. It is more duable for shock purposes. But other than that, the SM kicks it's ass. Did they take the Sub to the moon? No.
A comparable to the sub is the Omega Seamaster. After the James Bond hype died down, you are getting a better piece for less money. Omega is a better piece with less status inflation.

I am watch-less and slightly slack. As the great Douglas Adams once wrote, "Time is an illusion. Lunchtime, doubly so." I haven't worn a watch in probably 5 years.I don't even pay attention to the date or what day it is anymore (for the most part).

I call my state within the space time continuum "Un-Time". I find that the less I worry about the time, the more time I have to post messages on message boards in direct relationship to said un-time. It's like shooting watches in a barrel.

If time was a magazine, it would be People.

I'm really struggling in the realm of watches right now. I've ALWAYS worn a Timex ironman but my old one crapped out. I have a Breitling but I don't want to wear that bad boy every day and I can't find an Ironman I like. They're all too new fangled looking for me. I'm in watch purgatory.
