I usually take the ignore and make myself scarce route. I'm not comfortable with confrontation. Definitely not a cool way to go.
So, confess...what is the worst way you have broken up with someone?

I've never dumped anyone in a bad way, but I have personally been dumped over IM, and that was awful.

I once broke up with a guy who thought that we were going to a party. I said, "Well, I'm going to the party, but if I show up with you I'll be a laughingstock, because I told all those people I was dumping you today." It's sometimes good to work with a deadline.
I don't think I have ever dumped anyone not-in-person. If you've dated for anything over a month, I think it's necessary, unless you're in a different time zone or something. Once I had to break up with a guy at an Ihop, that was pretty rough. He said his rooty tooty fresh and fruity tasted like sand.

Yeah, the only thing worse than getting dumped, is getting dumped and carrying their TV two flights on the same day. When I look back, it's comedically tragic, but quite the learning experience. You can't help but say good riddance, and move on.

having her show up at my house to see the car of the new girl i was dating.
Mine didn't get the hint- came inside and when I told her to leave she responded: "Not until she leaves first."
At which point I had to drop the hammer: "I'm not sure she's leaving tonight, now please go home."
She ended screeching hysterically to a couple of friends (I was throwing a party) while I closed the deal inside. Good times.
As a matter of fact, I'll probably see her tomorrow at a mutual friend's kid's birthday party- I'll have to bring up some these fond memories.

My bitch of a girlfriend dumped me for another guy. Moved out of my place right into his. Whore. I helped get all of her shit out of my place as quick as possible. Everything was out except one box. So I was on my way downtown Detroit to see some band and decided I could drop it off. I called and she said her new man was at work, and it would'nt be a problem, told me to let myself in. I walked in and the two of them came out of the bedroom, she was topless. They just finished and she wanted to let me know it. CUNT.
Ten days and 15 pints of Jack later I was doing better. I feel much better now, I think she is doing time because of that lunitic tweeker.

I cringe just thinking back on this: I was too wimpy in my youth to break up with my boyfriend so I did everything to hopefully make him break up with me but it didn't work. Finally I suggested an "open relationship" where we could date others but really my plan was to find someone else and get the hell out (we were living together at the time). I found "the" guy (who I eventually married) and dated him for a year while still living with the original boyfriend, though I did break up with him a couple of months into the new relationship. We just lived together as "friends." I can't believe I lived there that long, just prolonging the agony as he was still in love with me. :glurps:

was going out with one chick for around 6 months, but it was nothing serious or exclusive. i live in the bronx and she was way out on long island. i'd stay over at her place every other weekend or so. mid november she went to austalia on vacation for a month. i ended up getting together with this gal i'd been friends with for a while. i was honest with her and told her about the long island girl and would break it off as soon as she got back. i was in a bit of a panic, as i had no clue how to go about doing this. one day i was taking a nap (i worked nights) and the new gal told me i'd gotten an im from xx (unbeknownst to her, it was the first chick). i'm like, haha that's really funny. she said no, seriously. ok, what did you say to this person. i told them you were asleep, then they asked who this was. and you said? oh, i'm his girlfriend.
that made me feel so shitty.
and 4 years later, i married the new gal.

This reminds of my friend, his girl sent him a couple of home movies with her maturbating to cheesy nineties songs. This took place in her college dorm room, at different times she would stop everything because people would knock at her door. The videos were awesome, she was hot. Anyway my buddy found out she was cheating on him at college, with one of his friends. So he mass e-mailed the videos to the entire student body. If that is not bad enough he then fowarded it her fathers company as a mass email. Funniest thing I ever heard of. Not sure what her response was.
I was doing them a favor when I broke up with them so there really is no bad way.

Mine isn't how I did, but more of a really bad timing thing. My sophmore year of highschool it took me three weeks to work up the courage to break up with my chick. I finally do it before she can even get a word into edge wise. When she finally speaks the first words out of her mouth are telling me that her best friend died. I had nothing

When I was going to college I dated a girl for about 8 months. When the end of the year came I was planning on breaking up with her because I was young and I just didn't think that she was the one for me. Before I got the chance to say anything to her she showed up at my apartment late one night. When I answered the door she was standing there in some very hot lingerie. I thought that it was going to be a great night for me but as soon as that thought entered my head she dropped to one knee and asked me to marry her. I was in shock so I told her I would have to think about it. That apparently was the wrong thing to say because she seemed crushed that I would ask for the time to think about it. She started crying saying that "this was a stupid idea" and she left my apartment, hopped in her car, and drove home. I went to her house the next day to give her a "no" and she wouldn't come out of her room to talk to me. Her roommate was there so I told her to tell my chick that, no I don't want to marry her, and I left town the next day. That was the last time I ever saw her or talked to her until just recently when she sent me a message on Facebook. I still haven't replied to that message because I have no idea what to say to her.

Mine isn't that terrible...most of the guys I broke up with took it very well and, for the most part, I was classy about it. But there was ONE guy who just annoyed the living crap out of me. The sex was fantastic but he was really dumb and it was just too much. One night, as I attempted to discuss music and films with him - he announced that Highway to Hell was the BEST ROCK ALBUM EVER (emphasis his). I looked him in the eye and said, "Yeah, this isn't working for me. We need to break up." He said, "you're breaking up with me cause I love AC/DC???" what an idiot.
Looking back, I should have stuck with him for the sex...it was the BEST.

In high school, there was this chick I really liked, but I could never get close to her. She had a twin sister (not identical) who was good looking, but not quite as hot. Turned out the sister asked me out, we went out for a few weeks, meanwhile I was just getting to know the hot sister better. Soon as I found out she liked me, I dumped sister #2 for sister #1. She still hates me.

it ranks about #18 on "Best Flippin' Days of My Life" scale, but I am sure it will keep falling in the charts as I rack up better experiences.

My high school boyfriend was a headcase.
I broke up with him in the morning, before school started, one day. He showed up outside my History class to walk me to my next one later that afternoon. I yelled at him and told him to go away. He thought I was kidding.
I said no I wasn't kidding. Go to Hell.
This continued through the day. For the next two weeks. I started to threaten restraining orders and poisons.
The night he showed up after my choral group rehearsal ended (at 9pm on school grounds) I continued to threaten a restraining order, went home, found the ring he'd given me for our first anniversary (against my precise instructions that if he was going to spend any money, I'd rather go to the movies) wrote a very short, very to-the-point note, taped the ring inside. . .and handed it to my friend Kenny at lunch the next day with instructions to Kenny that he was to give it to the idiot that afternoon while I was elsewhere.
He got the point, but I couldn't so much as act remotely civil to him in the hallway or else I'd hear rumors that he thought we were getting back together. (Ewww.)
